Flourished Deer Holiday Card Tutorial - Margie Higuchi, Guest Designer

Greeting from Chicago IL! I’m MargieHiguchi and am so thrilled to be guest designing this month. Many thanks to Suzanne and Kathy Jo for letting me play with some of Quietfire Design’s wonderful products. I hope that my project will inspire others to try a new idea or two. Featuring the Flourished Deer DieSetModernGilding Powder in Copper Scroll and in Burnished Silver, I will create a dimensional element with heat embossing and a sheet of 3D Foam Creative Sheet.

Holiday Card Details
To make three rectangular card panels, cut a piece of white vellum and red cardstock to 5 x 3 3/4-inches, and a 5 1/8 x 4-inch in ivory cardstock. For a horizontal fold A2 size card base, fold in half a piece of 8 1/2 x 5 1/2-inch Kraft cardstock.

With the red card panel, stamp the snowflake design from the May Peace Be Your Gift stamp set with VersaMark Ink and an acrylic block.

Next, pour Modern Gilding Powder in Burnished Silver over the card panel. Tap off excess.

Flourished Deer Element

Using a sheet of 3D Foam Creative Sheet SM, die-cut the Flourished Deer Die. Note: For easy removal from the die, use a piece of wax paper.

Using a heating tool, melt the powder to a beautiful metallic silver finish. Set aside to cool. Let's work on the beautiful Flourished Deer Die :)

Take the backing off of the deer die cut and center it to the white vellum card panel. Note: I dusted the vellum with anti-static powder for any pesky and unwanted embossing powder.

Then take the top liner off of the deer and pour Modern Gilding Powder in Copper Scroll over the die cut. Tap off excess. Melt the powder with a heating tool. Be careful not to burn the vellum.

Bringing It Together
Adhere the ivory card panel to the Kraft card base. Place the vellum card panel to the red card panel with Adhesive Dots Large behind the deer. I did this because I placed a Creative Photo Corners Silver on each of the corners to also secure and for a shiny accent. With the Crafty Foam Tape, I secured the panel to the card front to lift the layer.

Stamp the inside with the sentiment from the May Peace Be Your Gift Stamp Set and black ink to finish. Here is a second look at the finished project.
