The 9 Days of Christmas - Day 9 - Sherry

Welcome to Quietfire Design's 9 Days of Christmas - Day 9
- our final day!
If you've been following along, you'll know we have a wonderful way to share these new stamps with you during this event.
If you are a subscriber to Scrapbooking.com you will have seen Judi Kauffman's Holiday Headstart article published Sept 1, 2013. In that article each designer created three cards of increasing complexity. We will be continuing that theme for all 9 days!

Each designer has created
  1. One "quick and easy" card - in a style you can make multiples of, but nice enough to send out to your friends.  Basically; cardstock, stamp, patterned paper.
  2. One "a little more" card - the same card as the "quick and easy", but adding some embellishment or more complex.  This one would take a bit more time or cost a bit more to make.
  3. One "over the top" card  - Enough said!  This would be an heirloom card, something you'd keep, frame, display every year - perhaps something with a removable ornament. For hand delivery or shipped in a box.

The new stamps may be found
in the New Stamps department

Thank you so much for joining us!  Check in tomorrow when all the winners will be announced.

Here are Sherry's creations!  Don't forget to leave a comment at the bottom of this post to be eligible for a prize.

For my projects, I decided to make tags that could be used on gifts or hung on the tree.  The basic elements for each tag are the same, including inks and papers, building on the design in progression until we get to the last “over the top” tag.

For each tag:

1.  Two pieces of watercolor paper were die cut with Spellbinders Labels Twenty-Eight (6 pieces of paper total).  Three of the pieces that were die cut with Labels Twenty-Eight were then embossed with Holiday Magic M-Bossabilities.   Prior to adding the paper to the M-Bossabilities, the folder was inked with Aspen Mist chalk ink.  The other three pieces were for the back, which were stamped with “To” and “From” and then glued to the back of the finished tag.

2.  Two sets of snowflakes were die cut from watercolor paper with Spellbinders Create-A-Flake Five.

3.  The sentiment “Merry Christmas” was stamped in silver and then die cut/embossed with Spellbinders Classic Ovals – LG.  Before removing the paper from the die, the inside of the die was sponged with Aspen Mist chalk ink.

4.  The edges of the tags, sentiments and any layer behind, was outlined with a silver leafing pen.

5.  Vintage lace from my stash was added to the bottom third of each tag and taped to the back.  The extra paper on the back not only gives me a great place to add some names if using this as a gift tag, but it also helps to cover the ends of the lace and the embossing on the back of front tag.

“Quick and Easy” Tag

For this tag, the sentiment was layered flat on the front and a small un-dyed piece of ivory wrinkled ribbon was added to the top.  Two smaller pieces of the snowflake were covered with Rock Candy stickles, glued together, and then glued to the front.

“A Little More” Tag

This second tag was made the same way as the first, with some additional embellishments added.

The sentiment was mounted on another sheet of paper die cut/embossed with Spellbinders Classic Scalloped Ovals .  Larger snowflakes were used that were covered with more stickles and held together with a silver brad.  A flourish die cut from watercolor paper with Spellbinders Venetian Motifs and colored with the silver leafing pen was added under the snowflake.

The ribbon was dyed with Aspen Mist chalk ink and tied in a bow.

“Over the Top” Tag

This tag was prepared the same as the first two, except for even heavier embellishment.  Another layer was added to the sentiment to make it stand out more and the addition of a loopier bow (dyed in the same chalk ink).

For the snowflake, the entire set of Create-A-Flake Five was used.  Each individual piece was covered with glossy accents and then sprinkled with vintage glass glitter.

A newly released Spellbinders Media Mixáge Silver Hatpin was added to the snowflake.  A small piece of designer paper and glitter was added to the inside of the hatpin and then it was filled with ICE Resin.  The bottom was embellished with beads to finish it off.  The hatpin is removable and is a separate gift in and of itself.

Thanks for joining me today and helping us celebrate Quietfire Design's 9 Days of Christmas!  Don’t forget to add your comment to be eligible for a prize!
