Sage Notecard

Hey Quietfire Fans! For today's project I'm sharing with you my Sage Notecard. By combining a variety of stamps and Modern Gilding Powder, they were perfect for creating my notecard. You'll want to grab a cup of your favourite beverage and learn how to recreate my Sage Notecard at home.

To start, cut a piece of green cardstock that measures 4" x 4". Distress the edges of the paper. Ink the edges of the paper using Walnut Stain Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Die cut a 3 3/4" Stitched Square out of a piece of white cardstock. Apply Emboss It Ink to the Grid Background stamp and stamp onto the square. Reapply ink to the stamp as needed and re-stamp as needed. Sprinkle Celtic Mint Modern Gilding Powder over the entire surface of the square. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with a heat tool. Distress the edges of the square. Ink the edges of the square using Walnut Stain Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Die cut a 3 1/4" Stitched Square out of a piece of book page. Distress the edges of the square. Ink the edges of the square using Walnut Stain Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Die cut a 3 1/4" Stitched Square out of a piece of kraft cardstock. Apply Shabby Shutters Distress Ink to the Parsley stamp from the Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme stamp, stamp onto the kraft cardstock square. Reapply ink to the stamp and stamp until the entire square is covered. Tear a bit of the cardstock down on the top right side of the square. Tear a bit of the cardstock up on the bottom left side of the square. Distress the edges of the square. Ink the edges of the square using Walnut Stain Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Die cut a 2 3/4" Stitched Square out of a piece of cream patterned paper. Apply Shabby Shutters Distress Ink to the Sage stamp from the Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme stamp, stamp onto the middle top of the cream square. Apply Forest Moss Distress Ink to the Sage word from the Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme stamp, stamp onto the right side of the cream square. Distress the edges of the square. Ink the edges of the square using Walnut Stain Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Adhere the 3 3/4" square to the left side of the 4" green patterned paper piece. 

Adhere the 3 1/4" kraft cardstock square to the 3 1/4" book page square. Adhere the 3 1/4" kraft square to the left hand side of the grid background square.

Foam square the cream square to the middle of the kraft cardstock square. Wrap twine around the left hand side of the card front. Tie a knot with the twine. 

To finish the card, wrap twine around the left hand side of the card front. Tie a knot with the twine. Cut a cardbase out of white cardstock that measures 4 1/4" x 8 1/2", score at 4 1/4". Adhere the cardfront to the cardbase.

Rosemary & Sage Notecard

Hey Quietfire Fans! For today's project, I'm sharing with you my Rosemary & Sage Notecard. By combining a variety of stamps, dies and the Modern Gilding Powders, they were all perfect for creating my card. You'll want to grab a cup of your favourite winter time beverage and learn how to recreate my card at home.

To start, you'll need the medium Flourished Corner. Apply Potting Soil Archival Ink to the corner and stamp onto a piece of cream patterned paper. Reapply ink to the same corner and stamp onto the same piece of paper. Fussy cut the corners out. Ink the edges of the corner using Walnut Stain Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Die cut the Flourished Frame out of white cardstock. Apply VersaMark Ink to the entire surface of the frame and sprinkle Copper Scroll Modern Gilding Powder over the entire surface of the frame. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with a heat tool. Apply VersaMark Ink to the entire surface of the frame again and sprinkle Copper Scroll Modern Gilding Powder over the entire surface of the frame. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with a heat tool. 

Die cut a 3" Stitched Rectangle out of the same cream patterned paper you stamped the corners on. From the Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme stamp set, you'll need the Rosemary and Sage stamps. Apply Forest Moss Distress Ink to the Rosemary image stamp and stamp 1" from the left of the 3" stitched rectangle. Apply Forest Moss Distress Ink to the Sage image stamp and stamp 3/4" from the right of the 3" stitched rectangle. Apply Shabby Shutters Distress Ink to the Rosemary word stamp below the Rosemary image. Apply Shabby Shutters Distress Ink to the Sage word stamp and stamp below the Sage image. Apply Potting Soil Archival Ink to the Grid Background and stamp randomly on the edges of the 3" stitched rectangle. Apply ink to the stamp as needed. Distress the edges of the rectangle. Ink the edges of the rectangle using Walnut Stain Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Die cut a 4" Stitched Rectangle out of kraft cardstock. Die cut a 3 1/2" Stitched Rectangle out of a green floral piece of patterned paper. Distress the edges of both rectangles. Ink the edges of both rectangles using Walnut Stain Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Adhere the 3 1/2" stitched rectangle to the 4" stitched rectangle. Adhere the flourished frame to the 4" stitched rectangle.

Wrap twine four times along the bottom of the 3" rectangle. Foam square the 3" rectangle to the middle of the 3 1/2" rectangle.

Adhere one of the corners to the top left corner of the 3" rectangle. Adhere the other corner to the bottom right corner of the 3" rectangle. To finish the card, cut a cardbase out of kraft cardstock that measures 5 1/4" x 8", score at 4". Adhere the cardfront to the cardbase.

Rosemary Notecard

Hey Quietfire Fans! I was busy this past weekend playing with the Gentle Thoughts stamp set which is perfect for creating projects for that gardener in your life. By combining the stamp set with a few other stamps and some A Way With Words dies, they were the perfect for creating my Rosemary Notecard. This notecard is perfect to give to that gardener in your life. You'll want to grab a cup of your favourite summer time beverage and learn how to recreate my notecard at home.

To start, die cut the 3/4" Stitched Fishtail Banner out of white cardstock. Apply Forest Moss Distress Ink onto the Rosemary word stamp from the Gentle Thoughts stamp set and stamp onto the fishtail banner. Place the notched end of the Stitched Fishtail Banner 2 1/4" from the Rosemary word. Run through your diecutting machine. Using a blending tool with foam, blend Antique Linen Distress Oxide Ink over the entire surface of the banner. Apply Ground Espresso Distress Ink to the Grid Background stamp and stamp randomly onto the banner as desired. Reapply ink to the stamp as needed. Distress the edges of the banner. Ink the edges of the banner using Ground Espresso Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Die cut the Flourished Oval Frame out of white cardstock. Apply Emboss It Ink to the frame and sprinkle Burnt Copper Leaves embossing powder over the entire surface of the frame. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with a heat tool. 

Die cut a 2 1/2" Stitched Oval out of white cardstock. Apply Forest Moss Distress Ink onto the Rosemary stamp from the Gentle Thoughts stamp set and stamp onto the middle of the stitched oval. Using a blending tool with foam, blend Antique Linen Distress Ink over the entire surface of the stitched oval. Apply Ground Espresso Distress Ink to the Grid Background stamp and stamp randomly onto the stitched oval as desired. Reapply ink to the stamp as needed. Distress the edges of the stitched oval. Ink the edges of the stitched oval using Ground Espresso Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

From the Garden Goddess patterned paper, choose a green paper. Die cut the 3" Stitched Rectangle out of one side of the patterned paper. Die cut the 3 1/2" Stitched Rectangle out of the other side of the patterned paper. Distress the edges of both stitched rectangles. Ink the edges of both stitched rectangles out of Ground Espresso Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Adhere the 3" Stitched Rectangle to the 3 1/2" Stitched Rectangle.

Adhere the flourished oval frame to the stitched oval. Foam square the stitched oval to the middle of the 3" stitched rectangle.

Wrap some twine around the bottom of the oval. Foam square the rosemary banner to the bottom of the rosemary image on the stitched oval. Tie a bow with the twine.

To finish off the card, cut a cardbase that measures 4 3/4" x 7", score at 3 1/2". Adhere the cardfront to the cardbase.

Tutorial: Botanical Edging Technique

Hello Crafty Friends!  Kathy Jo here sharing an inky fun botanical edge technique that can be used on your next crafty project.  This technique was originally used on the project I created for the Quietfiire Designs blog hop:  

The blog hop project was a 12x12 mixed media page.  The project today is a 6x6 card with step by step photo instructions.  Several products were used to create this card, including the following Quietfire Design products:

Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme stamp set

Illuminations 1 stamp set

Always Believe stamp

Instructions:

Cut a piece of mixed media paper and and draw an outline of the area in which you plan to use for your project.  (My area was slightly smaller than 6x6.)  For the outline, do not use a pencil or utensil that would bleed or smear after ink was applied.  Use washi tape to secure to a non-stick craft sheet.  

 Apply Broken China Distress ink to the center of the workable area leaving a small border (~1") left without ink.

Apply Mowed Lawn Distress Ink, as shown, to create a green border.

  Stamp plants around border using Bamboo Leaves Memento Ink.  Turn stamp while stamping to create a more natural looking border.  You may also stamp an image twice before re-inking to create depth to your border.  It is ok if the plants extend past your working area as you will trim your area to size when complete.

Use Olive Grove Memento Ink to stamp image from Illuminations stamp set. 

Heat or air dry project then spritz with a glimmer spray such as Art-C's glimmer spray. Dry.  (The glimmer spray was added to add a hint of "sunshine" to the scene.)

 Cut image to desired size.  Stamp sentiment using Jet Black Archival Ink.

 Apply Vintage Photo and Walnut Stain Distress Ink along edges.  Dry.  (You will probably want to wash your hands after this step to ensure you do not smudge your image with inky fingers.)

 Mount onto Kraft paper (it was pre-cut to size with Distress Inks applied) and then onto tent fold black card base.

 Time to add some wee flowers.  Use Nuvo Crystal drops or Liquid Pearls to create the flowers.

Below is a close up of the "flowers". 

I love butterflies and always have a bag of butterflies cut and ready for projects.  Most of my butterflies are cut from Graphic 45 patterned papers. 

After the butterflies were mounted (using liquid adhesive), Stickles was applied to their wings. 

The card is now complete with a botanical frame, shimmery blues skies, beautiful butterflies and a gorgeous, uplifting sentiment.
