May the Wings of the Butterfly - Kelly Klapstein, Guest Designer

Hello everyone! I am so happy to be invited to do a couple of guest blog posts here this month. I’ve had the pleasure of working with the Quietfire stamps as a designer for Canadian Scrapbooker magazine. I’ve been involved with the magazine for a number of years and also enjoy teaching scrapbooking classes. Although I consider myself to be a scrapbooker, I am happy making cards and other paper crafts as well.

I am a big fan of Quietfire Design products, especially the stamps, and was delighted to make projects with them. This summer has been a time of creative exploration with me, and I have delved into some hand lettering and brush calligraphy. Now I feel I can truly appreciate the skill and artistry of Suzanne whose beautiful calligraphy is featured on these stamps.

Here is my first project, a layout about my oldest daughter’s Graduation in May.

The “Butterfly Circles, May the Wings” stamp set is lovely for a Grad theme scrapbook page.
I used my Brother ScanNCut to cut circles and a label shape around the stamped images.

I also used my ScanNCut to cut the butterflies, which I then watercoloured with Tombow Dual Brush Pens.

I thought this font was similar to Suzanne’s beautiful calligraphy so I cut the title “Believe” from gold glitter paper and layered it on black for a shadow effect.

All images were stamped onto watercolour paper. I stayed with black ink for a classic look, to match the layout design and styling. Black is elegant, don’t you think?

The Quietfire Design stamps are wonderful for scrapbooking.  I hope you will try them out on your layouts too.
