Kindness Wreath Wine Tag Tutorial - Margie Higuchi, Guest Designer

Hey everyone! I am excited to be back as a guest designer for Quietfire Design to dress up a bottle of wine with a sparkly tag for the holiday season! My Kindness Wreath Wine Tag highlights the Kindnessis Like Snow Stamp Set and Modern GildingPowder in Burnished Silver.

Wine Tag Basics

With a 4 x 10-inch strip of white cardstock, score at 3.5-inches on the long side. Either punch or die-cut a 2 3/8-inch circle on the short side of the score line.

On the long side of the score line, ink the four edges with VersaMarkInk Pad. Pour Modern GildingPowder in Burnished Silver over the inked areas, tap off excess and melt with a heating tool for a beautiful distressed edge. Set aside.

Cut a 3.5 x 6 1/8-inch rectangle panel from red cardstock. Ink the four edges with VersaMarkInk Pad. Pour Modern GildingPowder in Burnished Silver over the inked areas, tap off excess and melt with a heating tool. Set aside.

A Unique Wreath
Cut a 2.75-inch ring (with a 0.25-inch width) out of white cardstock. Cut the black backing of the Creative Photo Corner Silver. Start with two photo corners by tucking one corner into the other to create a chain of photo corners and work around the ring to create your wreath.

Using the wreath as a guide, stamp the snow design from the Kindnessis Like Snow Stamp Set using the VersaMark Ink Pad and Modern Gilding Powder in Burnished Silver. Tap off excess and melt with a heating tool.

Secure the wreath with 3D Foam Circles over the stamped image.

Add the Sentiment
Stamp the sentiment from the Kindness is Like Snow Stamp Set using the VersaMark Ink Pad and Modern Gilding Powder in Burnished Silver onto a strip of 1 5/8 x 4.5-inch white vellum. Tap off excess and melt with a heating tool.

Fold the white vellum ends over the red panel edges and secure it with Adhesive Lines. Add Crafty Foam Tape Black on the back of the red panel and adhere to the wine tag base.

It’s ready for the holiday festivities to begin! Take a second look.

What kind of hostess gifts are you bringing? HELP! I need ideas! LOL! Let me know in the comments below.

Flourished Deer Holiday Card Tutorial - Margie Higuchi, Guest Designer

Greeting from Chicago IL! I’m MargieHiguchi and am so thrilled to be guest designing this month. Many thanks to Suzanne and Kathy Jo for letting me play with some of Quietfire Design’s wonderful products. I hope that my project will inspire others to try a new idea or two. Featuring the Flourished Deer DieSetModernGilding Powder in Copper Scroll and in Burnished Silver, I will create a dimensional element with heat embossing and a sheet of 3D Foam Creative Sheet.

Holiday Card Details
To make three rectangular card panels, cut a piece of white vellum and red cardstock to 5 x 3 3/4-inches, and a 5 1/8 x 4-inch in ivory cardstock. For a horizontal fold A2 size card base, fold in half a piece of 8 1/2 x 5 1/2-inch Kraft cardstock.

With the red card panel, stamp the snowflake design from the May Peace Be Your Gift stamp set with VersaMark Ink and an acrylic block.

Next, pour Modern Gilding Powder in Burnished Silver over the card panel. Tap off excess.

Flourished Deer Element

Using a sheet of 3D Foam Creative Sheet SM, die-cut the Flourished Deer Die. Note: For easy removal from the die, use a piece of wax paper.

Using a heating tool, melt the powder to a beautiful metallic silver finish. Set aside to cool. Let's work on the beautiful Flourished Deer Die :)

Take the backing off of the deer die cut and center it to the white vellum card panel. Note: I dusted the vellum with anti-static powder for any pesky and unwanted embossing powder.

Then take the top liner off of the deer and pour Modern Gilding Powder in Copper Scroll over the die cut. Tap off excess. Melt the powder with a heating tool. Be careful not to burn the vellum.

Bringing It Together
Adhere the ivory card panel to the Kraft card base. Place the vellum card panel to the red card panel with Adhesive Dots Large behind the deer. I did this because I placed a Creative Photo Corners Silver on each of the corners to also secure and for a shiny accent. With the Crafty Foam Tape, I secured the panel to the card front to lift the layer.

Stamp the inside with the sentiment from the May Peace Be Your Gift Stamp Set and black ink to finish. Here is a second look at the finished project.

Sending Hugs - Betsy Birge, Guest Designer

Betsy Birge is sharing her second post as guest designer today.  Simply gorgeous!
Thanks so much for joining us Betsy!

Hello everyone!  So excited to be sharing this “Sending Hugs” card with you today.  There are so many ways to use this stamp set, as well as the dies.  I have chosen a very soft palette of pinks and greens.

First I stamped my hearts using 2 shades of Tombow Markers – keeping the darker shade along the outside edges.  I then lightly misted it with water to get a watercolor effect.  I used a stamp positioner to do this on Strathmore Bristol card stock.

Next I cut out the hearts leaving a small white edge.  I die cut my “Sending” and “Hugs” from lime green pearlescent card stock.

I next put my base together.  For the main base I used an A2 size white top folding card.  I covered that completely with a piece of lilac pearlescent card stock.  Then I cut a piece of the lime green pearlescent card stock to 4.125” x 5.75” and my patterned paper measures 4” x 5.25”.  I adhered all of these together.

I adhered my die cuts to the card gluing the “sending” and “Hugs” flat and popping up the hearts with foam tape.

For an added embellishment I used Nuvo Jewel Drops in Honeysuckle.  And that completed my card.

And the Day Came - Betsy Birge, Guest Designer

Hello everyone!  I’m Betsy Birge and I am the Guest Designer for Quietfire Design for August.

For my project today I used the Butterfly Flourish Dies and And the Day Came stamp.  I started by cutting my cardstock: the base is A2 size top fold in gray, the dark violet panel is 4” x 5.25” and the focal panel is 3.75” x 5”.

Next I heat embossed the sentiment on the smaller gray panel which I stamped in a violet hybrid ink and used clear embossing powder.

I next die cut my butterflies.  I used the same violet paper to die cut the solid image and a pearlized vellum for the single butterflies.  On the small butterfly I cut away the the curled bits.

For the bigger butterfly I curled the vellum wings with the handle of a small paintbrush.  I adhered them on to the corresponding shapes of the violet die cut adding glue just to the very middle of the butterflies.  Then I adhered them to my panel.  I cut away a small portion of the flourish where it overlapped the stamped text.  I added the curl bits from the small white butterfly die cut and added small violet and white pearls.

I hope you’ll give this easy card a try!  So beautiful with Quietfire Design elements!

Supplies I used:

Gray card stock
Violet Pearlized card stock
Pearlized platinum vellum
White and Violet pearls

Fill Your Paper Tag Book - Nancy Nickel, Guest Designer

It’s Nancy back with you today. I’m here to share my second Guest Designer post.
When I saw this gorgeous “Fill Your Paper” sentiment stamp in the store, a project immediately came to mind. It was just a matter of finding a cut file in the shop that would work with the image I had in my head. Then I saw the Library Pocket Tag Book cut file, and knew that it was just the right one. Every once in a while, I come across a cut file that becomes a fast favorite. This file is one of those for me. In fact, I have already cut out a couple more, in different themes and colours, that are all ready to put together. The one I’m sharing with you today is done in a vintage style, and made to actually fill with writings and favorite quotes.

I cut out the album, adding a second cut of the front and back cover, of black cardstock. I also added a second cut of the reinforcements because I liked them so much, and I wanted to add them everywhere! I assembled the pockets. I then inked all the edges of all the pieces with Black Soot Distress Ink, including the inside of the pockets. I adhered all the reinforcements in place.

I stamped the tags with the Grid Background Stamp, using a light ink. That way it won’t interfere with any writing that will be added. The grid adds interest while offering some straight lines to write on. I used a black pen to frame the stamping, then I inked around the tag with Black Soot Distress ink. I added the reinforcements. Finally, I looped a piece of cream coloured seam binding through the hole at the top of the tag.

For the front cover, I adhered the piece of black cardstock to the back. I inked around the edges with Black Soot Distress ink. I stamped the Fill Your Page sentiment in place with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I cut the Flourished Oval Frame out of black cardstock, and fit it in place around the sentiment.

Finally, I cut the hanging heart from the Calligraphic Elements 3 set out of black cardstock. I didn’t want a black heart, so I cut a second one out of red cardstock. I trimmed out just the heart, and adhered it in place on the black cut. I added that to the cover.

Then all that was left to do was decorate the pages. I did this using more of the die-cut elements.

The Library Pocket Tag Book included several butterflies. I have added these to the tags and the pockets. I also added some more of the Oval Frames, cut from the designer paper, to the inside covers.

This offers a place to write something with a white marker or gel pen. Please refer to the photos to see how I decorated it all.

This was a really fun project to put together, and I’m really looking forward to filling it up with the “…breathings of my heart.”
Thanks very much for stopping by today! I’ve enjoyed sharing my project with you!

Courage - Nancy Nickel, Guest Designer

I’m very excited to be a Guest Designer for Quietfire this month! I’ve been a huge fan of Suzanne, and all things Quietfire, for a long time! To be sharing some projects here is really thrilling for me. Never mind all the fun I had making them!

Today I have a card to share with you. This card features the very lovely Leafy Garden Frame Card Cutting File. These layers come together so easily to create a really beautiful card. The hardest part is choosing the papers. I often like to use black on a layered card like this. It’s always pleasing to my eyes, and really allows the focal sentiment to stand out. This is such a lovely sentiment too.

I began with a black cardstock card base. The next layer was the pretty patterned paper that had lots of colours. On top of that came the corner cut piece. For this I chose the black with the gloss texture on it. It offers some interest but doesn’t compete with the layer under it, or the design showing through in the corners. Next, I moved on to the ovals. The small one that would contain the sentiment, I cut from a light turquoise cardstock that matched the patterned paper. The larger oval that matted it, I cut from a coordinating multi-striped paper, from the collection. Since it’s between two solid colours, it doesn’t get too busy.

Now it was time to stamp the sentiment. I used a stamp positioning tool to do this. I stamped it in black ink. What a lovely impression it gave…just beautiful!

At this point I decided that I wanted the sentiment to be glossy, to match the gloss texture of the black background. I left the stamped sentiment in place on the stamp positioning tool, and patted it with the anti-static pouch. I cleaned the black ink off the stamp, and inked it up with the embossing ink. I re-stamped the sentiment with the embossing ink. I removed the stamped oval, sprinkled it with clear embossing powder, and heat set it. In the close-up photo of the sentiment, you can see the beautiful shine on the words. I then adhered this oval onto the striped oval. I added foam tape to the back of the striped oval. Then it was just a matter of adhering everything in place, from the bottom up. Finally, I added a pretty white shimmer ribbon bow to the top of the oval, and my card was done!

This same design can be used over and over again. Just a change of papers, and different sentiment stamp, and you would have an entirely new look! It can even be used horizontally! I know it’s a cut file that I’ll go back to again and again!
