Garden Delight Mini Album

Hello Everyone, Terre here and I know what you all are thinking.....just what is she showing us now!

Well I really love creating mini albums just like the one you see here!

I have to show you all the pages because I used the amazing stamps from Quietfire Designs in with the amazing chipboard albums from Want2Scrap. Did you also notice the paper collection is from Graphic 45?

 





 

Look I told you there was Quietfire Design stamps in my album....lol! For this album I used the "Garden Delight" stamp set, it just went so perfect with the pattern paper from G45.

What is nice about this stamp set is there are 8 stamps in the set, so much creativity in just one stamp set.

 I'm beginning to get dependent on Holly's Technique of the Month to jumpstart my creativity.!

How does she think up these techniques??

This month's double layer embossing is here.

My first card I just shamelessly copied!

I embossed two sheets with Spellbinders Letter and Numbers embossing folder.

Following Holly's instructions, I  painted the numbers with watercolors and pressed out most of the emboss, matted and glue dotted it all together .

The quote is stamped with VersaFine Sepia, thermal embossed clear on Spellbinders Labels 25- a perfect fit! and colorized using the die as a stencil.

For the next card I added some and took some away!

Using the same folder, I cut one out of Spellbinders Dahlia ,and putting it back in the folder, brayered VersaMark on the high points and thermal embossed clear. Then I sprayed a bunch of stuff , and inked up the die cut till I was happy, and then ironed it between two pieces of clean paper till all of the embossing was removed and most of the emboss was flattened.

The quote is stamped on tracing paper and glued on with Glossy Accents so I can see what is going on underneath!

A new embossing folder ! 

This time I used both the front and the back side of the folder on my layers, with the folder inked up for a letterpress look that doesn't show in these photos.

I love how the lines merge where the layers meet!

The quote is stamped on Spellbinders Decorative Labels One, and I made a frame for the inside of the companion quote

and used the folder as a stamp for the background!

Sea Beauty - Thinking of You

My turn on the Quietfire Creations blog again and I've taken up Holly's challenge that she started the month off with. Thanks Holly for another fun technique.


Emboss two pieces of cardstock with the same embossing folder (Spellbinders mBossibilities "Sea Beauty"). Trim one down so the 2nd piece will show generously around the edges. Make sure the 2nd piece matches up with the underlayer one.

Color the trimmed down one (either the raised edges, or fill in the design which is what I did), then run through your embossing machine again, but this time, place it on top of your folder and with some extra cardstocks on top of that. You want to flatten the embossed image. I colored with Prisma Colored Pencils in every color of blue's and greens and some pinks/mauves in my arsenal...

Stamped a text bkgr'd stamp (Just Jhones "Pieces & Parts") using Versafine Black Onyx, stamping twice on some scrap paper before stamping on my colored images. You just want a very light text. Repeated till all the design was covered in text.

Adhere the colored piece to another piece of cardstock, trim down to get just a thin border all around, then adhere to uncolored embossed piece matching up the lines.

I added the glorious Sari ribbon available from Quietfire Design. I twisted two pieces together, then adhered to back of card layers. Tied a bow and adhered that with gel medium. Adhered the layers onto the same aqua side folded 5"w x 7"h card.

Applied Distress Stains (Mowed Lawn, Salty Ocean, Dried Marigold) onto my craft sheet to ink up my solid image seahorse (Another Stamp Co.). Stamped onto white cardstock, dried and cut out. Applied Perfect Medium all over and clear embossed, then applied Versafine all over into the crevices. Rubbed off excess. Added a black rhinestone eye. Adhered to card with 3D foam tape, wrapping the tail around my ribbon.

Stamped the sentiment (Quietfire Design) onto white Shrink Plastic using the black. Drew a shell shape around it and cut out. Added some detail lines and a large punched hole and then shrunk it. Attached to card with a black mini safety pin.

Have I Told You Lately - Guest Designer Holly Craft

I am Holly Craft, guest designer for June. I have loved Spellbinders products since being on their original Design Team beginning in 2004 (and subsequently in 2008) and have loved Quietfire images since I discovered them over five years ago. I have always felt that a beautiful classic look can be attained with products from each of these companies and that they complement each other so well.  

 

For today's project, a "Love" framed piece, I used Quietfire Valentine's Day/Love 2013 set. I chose three of the eight stamps included in this set. Don't let the "Valentine's Day" in the name of the set scare you....these stamps are so versatile and will work the other eleven months
of the year after February!

I also used Spellbinders M-Bossabilities, 3D Ornamental Swirls.  I love all of the Spellbinders embossing folders, but the new 3D folders give so much dimension you will be amazed! I also love the fact that the folder is 5 by 7 inches as I like to make larger cards and that size is also perfect for framing. If you want to stick to smaller cards, you can use a portion of the design on the embossing folder and make it fit your needs.

I cut a 5 by 7 inch piece of watercolor paper (140#, cold press) to create the embossed background for my stamped image. For correct placement, I used a stamp positioner to get the verse where I wanted it when stamping with black Versafine ink, placing the embossed paper over the folder so the stamped area will be supported from behind. To accent the deep dimension on the embossed watercolor paper, I highlighted with gold. You can use a gold ink with a small sponge or one of the many cremes available that can be applied with your finger. I have also handpainted the designs on these embossed pieces with watercolor paint or a shimmering paint. I heat embossed the verse after applying clear embossing powder, but then also brought some of the gold gently over the stamped image.

I wanted to carry the design out to the mat board, so I chose the two hearts, making masks for them so I could layer the stamped hearts over each other while preserving a nice, neat look. There are papers specifically made for masking or you can use a repositionable paper like the top edge of a
note.

I left the glass out of the frame for photos, but you can choose to use it or not. It could hang on the wall or be placed on an easel on a table top. I added a few rhinestones as accents on the ornamental swirls. I think those swirls work so well with the swirled calligraphy in the stamps. This piece could have so many uses. I can see it working great as a wedding gift for a bride and groom, a gift for a golden anniversary or even a present you give to your spouse for an anniversary or just because! Those are all events I have coming up in the next month!

 

I hope you have enjoyed this project. I love using stamps for things other than just cards! Plus, you see that you can use Spellbinders products and not make the first die cut! Thanks for allowing me to share!

Garden Delights Wall Plaque!

Sherry here with you today and I have another wall plaque made from an old chipboard album.  I picked out one of my favorite sentiment from Garden Delights and then decided that it would work great with Graphic 45’s Secret Garden paper.

The paper was adhered to the chipboard page with a glue stick and the excess was sanded way around the edges.  The edges were then sponged with Antique Linen Distress Ink. 

The sentiment was stamped on white cardstock with black pigment ink and embossed in clear.  It was then die cut/embossed with Spellbinders Ovals, the edges distressed with scissors and sponged with Antique Linen.  The backing is watercolor paper die cut/embossed with Spellbinders Floral Ovals.  This oval was sponged with Shaded Lilac Distress Ink and misted with water and gold perfect pearls.  A frame was made with chipboard by die cutting/embossing it with Labels Fifteen, painting it white, a little sanding here and there and then inked with Antique Linen.

The flower was made with Spellbinders Bitty Blossoms.  The edges were sponged with Antique Linen and assembled.  It was then misted with a white ink spray and misted with the same water and gold perfect pearls.  The leaves were die cut/embossed from watercolor paper and colored with Peeled Paint and Forest Moss Distress Stain.

The bow is wrinkle ribbon that was dyed with Scattered Straw, scrunched up and dried with the heat tool.

HAPPY FAMILY DAYS- TECHNIQUE CARD

Hi Everyone! Holly here with a technique I hope you enjoy.

Begin with embossing two pieces of cardstock. Retro Circles embossing folder.

Trim one of the pieces, keeping in mind where it will match up over the bottom layer. This will be explained better as we go. :)  Next, add colour. Peeled Paint & Faded Jeans Distress inks.

Distress ink with a bit of water was brushed on the raised areas. Dry thoroughly.

Now run this piece through your machine again but place it outside of the embossing folder. I also  put one piece of paper over the piece before I ran it through. This flattens the cardstock and gets it ready for the stamping. Nature Quotemarks. The stamp was inked up, stamped twice on scrap paper then the third stamping was on the painted design. Repeat this to cover the piece. We want a very subtle look here.

After matting, the piece is laid over the bottom embossed piece, matching up the painted design, with the embossed design. Attach to your base card. Stamp, die-cut and mat your sentiment, then adhere to your card. Happy Father's Day stamp.

I've kept the design very simple to show the technique better. I hope you try it and add all your own wonderful touches.

God Grant Me - Gift Card

It's Suzanne here on the weekend to share a card I recently received in the mail. 

Shirley Dolby in the UK asked me a long time ago to letter the Serenity Prayer and when it finally became a rubber stamp, I sent her one as a gift.

This is the beautiful card I received from her made with the stamp!

 

I took an extra photo from an angle so you could see the dimension in the butterfly and the layering.

 

And that wasn't the end of her card.  When I opened it, I found this beautiful corner pocket with a glittery silver bookmark.  Wow, how to make a presentation!  Thank you so much Shirley! This is amazing!
