Vintage "Tidings of Comfort and Joy" card

Hello Crafty Friends!

One of my favorite holiday stamps from Suzanne Cannon is the Tidings of Comfort and Joy.  It is a timeless beauty and I love finding new ways to use it every Christmas.  This year I combined it with the lovely poinsettia banner from the Poinsettia Banner Sentiments stamp set:

The Poinsettia Banner stamp was stamped in black alcohol proof ink onto 4" x 5.25" Kraft card stock.  After drying I used alcohol ink to color the banners.  Next, I stamped the poinsettia twice onto Kraft card stock, colored the flowers and then fussy cut.  

The Tidings stamp was applied onto Kraft card stock and die cut using an oval die.  Brown ink was applied along the edges of the oval die cut and the Kraft banner background.  Gold marker was applied along the edges.

A piece of 1/2" green ribbon was adhered to the background.  The background was mounted onto a 4.25 x 5.5 red tent fold card.  The oval die cut was assembled to the card using foam tape.  The fussy cut poinsettias were adhered as shown.  

The final touches were glitter in each corner and the poinsettia centers.  Nuvo Glitter Drops in red were applied to the holly berries. 

The vintage style and holiday colors coordinate so well with Suzanne's gorgeous stamps!

Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas Card

Hey Quietfire Fans! For today's project I'm sharing with you my Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas Card. I combined a variety of dies, stamps and Modern Gilding Powder, which were all perfect for creating this card. You'll want to grab a cup of your favourite beverage and learn how to recreate my Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas Card at home.

To start, you'll need the Flourished Christmas Tree die. Apply a patch of Emboss It Ink to a piece of white cardstock. Sprinkle Kells Gold Modern Gilding Powder over the inked area. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with a heat tool. Once cooled, die cut the dots and star from the embossed paper. Apply a patch of Emboss It Ink to a piece of white cardstock. Sprinkle Copper Scroll Modern Gilding Powder over the inked area. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with a heat tool. Once cooled, die cut the two flourished trees die out of the paper. Die cut the non flourished tree out of black cardstock.

Adhere the copper tree to the black tree. Adhere the star and dots to the tree.

Apply Emboss It Ink to the Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas sentiment from the Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas stamp set and stamp onto a piece of cream cardstock. Sprinkle Kells Gold Modern Gilding Powder over the stamped sentiment. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with a heat tool. Fussy cut around the sentiment. Ink the edges of the sentiment using Black Soot Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Die cut the Flourished Frame out of a piece of cream cardstock.

Die cut the 3 1/2" Stitched Indented Rectangle out of a piece of book page. Distress the edges of the rectangle. Ink the edges of the rectangle using Black Soot Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Choose two pieces of coordinating Christmas patterned paper. Die cut the 4" Stitched Indented Rectangle out of the first piece of patterned paper. Die cut the 4 1/4" Fitted Indented Rectangle out of the second piece of patterned paper. Distress the edges of both rectangles. Ink the edges of both rectangles using Black Soot Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Die cut the 3 3/4" Fitted Indented Rectangle out of a piece of black cardstock. Distress the edges of the rectangle. 

Adhere the 4" rectangle to the 4 1/4" rectangle. Adhere the flourished frame to the 4" rectangle.

Adhere the 3 1/2" rectangle to the 3 3/4" rectangle. Foam square the 3 3/4" rectangle to the 4" rectangle.

Foam square the flourished Christmas tree to the middle of the 3 1/2" rectangle.

Use adhesive and foam squares to adhere the Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas sentiment to the bottom portion of the flourished Christmas tree.

To finish the card, cut a cardbase out of White cardstock that measures 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", score at 4 1/4". Adhere the cardfront to the cardbase.

4 Seasons Die Set - "Winter"

Let me show you how I made my card.  I started by gathering my materials.  Most times I like to have my papers already chosen and go from there.

These dies are so perfect for the seasons!  I chose this beautiful blue snowflake paper

from Paperwishes.com.  It was perfect!

I made my card base first.  I took white card stock and cut it to 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" and

scored it in the middle.  I cut my blue pearlized card stock to 3 3/4" x 5 1/2" and

adhered it to the base.  I cut my snowflake paper to 3 1/2" x 5 1/2" and adhered that

on top.

Next I took the "Winter" die and cut it from white card stock 3 times. 

I then adhered them on top of each other using liquid adhesive.

I had cut the snowflake pattern paper so that the star was in the upper left corner

and would really set off the die cut.  I adhered the die cut onto the card...again with

liquid adhesive.  Then added some white pearls to the centers of the some of the

snowflakes and used a shimmer pen to the centers of the stars.

And that completed my card!  

This is a great card sketch to showcase a die cut and by changing out the

papers and the die, the possibilities are endless!

Christmas Delivery!

 Hi Artlets!  It's Suzanne dropping in today to share this quick and easy card!  I had a moment of inspiration to combine Christmas with Delivery!  Have a look at your A Way With Words stash and you might be surprised what you come up with!

Making this card is just a matter of die cutting and assembling on a 5x7" side-fold card base.

Slimline Christmas Garland Card

 I love decorating my house for Christmas but I have a love/hate relationship with my staircase.  I love the look of the garland along the staircase but putting it up and taking it down is a lot of work.  At least I have gone from twirling it around the wrought iron and banister to just using wires to have loops - way easier.  Every year I wonder if it's worth it but I'm also so picky that I don't let anyone else do it.  But as soon as the boys ask for it, I do it.  :)

Long intro into:  Look, the slimline card is perfect for a garland all the way across!  

I started off with 8.25" x 3.5" layer of white card stock.  I sponged some light green and yellow along the edges for a nice glow in the clean white center.  

 

I divided the card roughly in thirds and drew a soft loop as shown below.  For my garland, I alternated between the soft rounded sprig and then the pinecone.  They were cut with different shades of green card stock,

I added a 1/16" red mat to the layer and then trimmed off the greenery off the edges.  Using the same red, I die cut two of the bows.

For the Merry Christmas, I die cut the Merry Christmas 3 four times and glued them together.  The fourth layer I die cut out of a sheet of white card stock with a sheet of double sided adhesive on top.  I added Silver Sands Microfine Glitter over the adhesive.  A black card base turned the layer into a card.  I love how it looks in real life - so sparkly!

Definitely putting up the garlands this year!

Hey Quietfire Fans! For today's project I'm sharing with you my Merry Christmas Card. I combined a variety of dies, stamps and Modern Gilding Powder, which were all perfect for creating this Christmas Card. You'll want to grab a cup of your favourite beverage and learn how to recreate my Merry Christmas Card at home.

Start by choosing two pieces of Christmas patterned paper. Die cut a 4" Stitched Indented Rectangle out of the first patterned paper. Die cut a 3 1/2" Stitched Indented Rectangle out of the second piece of patterned paper. Ink the edges of both rectangles using Black Soot Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Die cut a 3 3/4" Fitted Indented Rectangle out of a piece of book page. Ink the edges of the rectangle using Black Soot Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Die cut a 2 1/2" Stitched Oval out of cream cardstock. Apply Emboss It Ink to the Merry Christmas stamp from the Poinsettia Banner & Sentiments stamp and stamp in the middle of the oval. Sprinkle Forever Platinum over the stamped sentiment. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with a heat tool. Ink the edges of the oval using Black Soot Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Die cut the Flourished Oval Frame out of a piece of white cardstock. Apply Emboss It ink to the entire surface of the frame. Sprinkle Copper Scroll Modern Gilding Powder over the entire surface of the frame. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with a heat tool.

The next three steps use the new Christmas Accents Die.

Die cut the small leaves twice out of a piece of dark green cardstock. Ink the edges of the leaves using Black Soot Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Die cut the medium flowers twice out of a piece of red cardstock. Die cut the small flowers five times out of a piece of red cardstock. Die cut the extra small flowers five times out of a piece of red cardstock.  Ink the edges of all the flowers using Black Soot Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Die cut the centre of the flowers five times out of a piece of dark yellow cardstock.

Adhere the 3 1/2" rectangle to the 3 3/4" rectangle. Adhere the 3 3/4" rectangle to the 4" rectangle.

Foam square the stitched oval to the middle of the 3 1/2" rectangle. Adhere the flourished frame overtop of the stitched oval.

Shape and adhere the flowers.

Adhere the two flowers with leaves to the bottom left side of the frame. Adhere the three flowers to the top right side of the frame.

To finish the card, cut a cardbase out of white cardstock that measures 4" x 10 1/2", score at 5 1/4". Adhere the cardfront to the cardbase.
