Sending Smiles

 I'm done with winter.  If it's not going to give me a beautiful snowfall, let's just move along.  Haha - I wish it was that easy but it is in my craft room.  I needed a cheery card and I always love butterflies in season and out of season.  So here is my happy versions of Sending Smiles in a slimline format.

I started by using an old leaf stencil by Art Impressions and sponging in some different shades of green with my Distress Oxides.  I then cut the Symbol background out of pastel green foil by Recollection and used trimmed it to use the smaller halves to flank the sides of my slimline base.

The Sending Smiles and butterflies from the Butterflies Spray and Butterfly Pocket Insert were cut from the same slightly different shades of blue cardstock.

American Crafts Bazzill Cardstocks in Turquoise Mist (pale), Patina, Navajo and Blue Oasis (dark)

Cardstocks in pale and dark yellow

Pink cardstock

White cardstock

Glue Dots

3D Foam Squares

Instructions:

1. Form a 6.5 x 6" tent-fold card base from Navajo turquoise.
2. Die cut flowers from Flourished Night Sky in the three palest colours of turquoise; 10 of Turquoise Mist, 9 of Patina and 10 of Navajo.
3. Die cut the Flourished Butterfly base from white, Navajo and dark yellow, stack them and adhere together.  Die cut the free butterfly from pale yellow and use a Glue Dot to attach to the base.  Fold up the wings. Die cut a pink heart from the Hearts spray and adhere it to the butterfly as shown in photo.
4. Diecut "Sending" and "love" from dark turquoise.
5. Cut a panel 5.5 x 5.75 wide from pale yellow and another, slightly larger to create a mat, from dark yellow. Attach together.
6. Adhere the butterfly flourish to the panel as shown and surround by the flowers in a pattern as shown.
7. Adhere "Sending" and "love".
8. Mount this assemblage onto the card base with 3D Foam Squares.
9. Send to someone you love!

Sending Hugs - Betsy Birge, Guest Designer

Hello everyone!  So excited to be sharing this “Sending Hugs” card with you today.  There are so many ways to use this stamp set, as well as the dies.  I have chosen a very soft palette of pinks and greens.

First I stamped my hearts using 2 shades of Tombow Markers – keeping the darker shade along the outside edges.  I then lightly misted it with water to get a watercolor effect.  I used a stamp positioner to do this on Strathmore Bristol card stock.

Next I cut out the hearts leaving a small white edge.  I die cut my “Sending” and “Hugs” from lime green pearlescent card stock.

I next put my base together.  For the main base I used an A2 size white top folding card.  I covered that completely with a piece of lilac pearlescent card stock.  Then I cut a piece of the lime green pearlescent card stock to 4.125” x 5.75” and my patterned paper measures 4” x 5.25”.  I adhered all of these together.

I adhered my die cuts to the card gluing the “sending” and “Hugs” flat and popping up the hearts with foam tape.

For an added embellishment I used Nuvo Jewel Drops in Honeysuckle.  And that completed my card.

Hugs - Love & Hearts Collection - Tea-Thee - Easel Cup Of Tea

Yogi Here today and  I've been meaning to make a tea cup type of easel card for a while now... So here it is.

I'm using an A Way With Words dies  "Sending Hugs Kisses" 3pce set from Elizabeth Craft Designs, also available on Quietfire Design HERE

And I'm using one of the newest sentiment  stamps from Quietfire Design ("Tea - Thee" 7pce set)

Also using a clear stamp set and a stencil from Suzanne "Love & Hearts Collection" 10 pce set and "Butterfly Kaleidoscope" stencil also available on Elizabeth Craft Designs HERE  and HERE

Open the "Easel Cup Diagram", resize so it's 7"w x 5"h approx, print and cut from some copy paper. This is your template to create the card configuration. Transfer to cardstock by outlining using a pencil, cut and score as per the template below. Transfer the cup design onto another piece of white cardstock and cut out. Trim if they don't match perfectly...

I outlined my design with a black marker. I created some masks from copy paper where needed - for the liquid in the cup, and the left edge of the cup/saucer.

Stamped the heart/hearts using Versafine "Habanero" and clear embossing. Inked the outline heart stamp with the Habanero and clear embossed.

Sponged some Distress "Tea Dye" for the liquid.

Used the side edge of colored pencils to color the cup and saucer.

Sponged Distress "Crushed Olive" around the cup background.

Lay the stencil on the background and sponged with some "Mustard Seed" and "Fossilized Amber".

Stamped the "Tea" with the Habanero, clear embossed on white cardstock. Added a shadow line with an HB pencil. Dye cut with Tim's "Stacked Baroque" die set and then cut off the bottom edge, sponged with the tea dye.  Punched a hole and added the ribbon. Made a slit in the cup liquid and adhered the ribbon to the back.

 

Die cut the "Hugs from a blue textured cardstock and adhered.

Stamped the "Mine, you're..." on white with the Habanero, trimmed down adding a picot edge, sponged around the edges and adhered to front.

Created the lemon by cutting a half circle. Used an orange/yellow colored pencil for the rind edge. Left a white rim and colored the rest of the lemon with another yellow pencil. Added white veins with a white gel pen. Cut of part of the lemon slice to make it appear it was sitting on the cup rim. Adhered to cup.( I only like lemon in my tea... dislike milk UGH)

On the floor: Direct to paper with the Crushed Olive pad.

Stamped the quote on white cardstock using the Habanero and clear embossing. Die cut with Tim's Stacked Baroque set, cut off the top area, sponged around edges and adhered to floor with 3D foam tape to act as my stopper.

Shaker Card with glitter background and extra sparkles

I'm getting better at playing with glitter!  I wanted to just make a pretty shiny background and ended up with this shaker card.  Sometimes you just play and let it go where it goes.

I covered a sheet of white card stock with ECD double sided adhesive and then added glitter to the top side and let it fall down in a diagonal manner.

I then burnished in the glitter with my finger to complete the background.

I cut out the "Sending" and little flowers out of white cardstock.  A rhinestone in the middle made the flowers match my sentiment perfectly.  The shaped glitter inside the shaker element added an extra dimension of fun.

Special Hugs For You

Today I have a friendship card created using a combination of the A Way With Words die sets and a rubber stamp.  This is Selma Stevenson and I love the way we can combine our die sets and or stamp sets to create a variety of sentiments.   Do you mix and match your dies to come up with fun sentiments?

I used four different A Way With Words die sets along with one stamp from a set of five.

Use the Special die from this A Way With Words die set.

Use the A Way With Words Sending Hugs Kisses die set to die cut the sentiment Hugs.

Use this A Way With Words die set to die cut the Forever sentiment.  Since only the word FOR is needed, carefully trim off the ever and flourishes along the bottom, with scissors, as shown on the card.

Use the A Way With Words Wishing You A die set to die cut the you

Use the Thanks Cuddler Set of 7 stamp set and use the for being my friend stamp to white emboss under the white die cut sentiments.

The die cut on the lower left of the card is the Lovebirds die from Elizabeth Craft Designs.  Small flowers from the CountryScapes Clematis-Ivy set was die cut and attached to the branches.

I hope you have fun looking for new sentiments you can create by combining dies from different sets.
