I Don't Need an Inspirational Quote...

Hello Quietfire fans!  Betsy on the blog today with this cute coffee card!  You'll see as we go along
that I changed my mind twice as I was making this!  Products I used:

I love the quote from this stamp set!  The first step was to cut my papers to the correct size.  My
card base is an A2 size top folding Neenah Desert Storm card.  My next layer is dark brown
and measures 4" x 5 1/4".  My patterned paper is 3 3/4" x 5".  I adhered those together in
that order.  My smaller panel starting with the dark brown card stock measures
2 3/4" x 3 1/2".  The patterned paper is 2 1/4" x 3 1/4".  I did not not adhere these
together at this point.

I heat embossed the coffee cup and steam on striped paper with the Acanthus Teal Modern
Gilding Powder.  I also heat embossed the sentiment with the same embossing powder
directly onto the smaller patterned paper panel.

I fussy cut the coffee cup and steam.  And then decided that I didn't like the quote stamped
directly onto the patterned paper.  So I decided to stamp it onto a scrap of patterned
vellum.

I really didn't like that either, so I heat embossed it onto some teal colored vellum.  It was very
easy to keep lining these up.  But I was finally happy with the teal vellum.  I used a Zyron Sticker
maker to adhered the vellum panel.  You really can't tell that I heat embossed this 3 times
and layered them one over the other LOL! I adhered the coffee cup and steam above the sentiment at an angle.  I then added some dark brown peel-offs to give the piece of vellum some definition and adhered this patterned panel to the dark brown one. Then I glued the whole small panel to the lower right corner of my card.  I added a small white & gold twine bow at the top left corner of
the sentiment and 3 gems in the lower right corner.  And my card was done!

I was really pleased with the final card and was glad I had made the changes
to the sentiment.

Falalalala...But First Coffee! A Gift Card Holder.

Christmas Gift Card Holder using Falalalala die and But First Coffee stamp set / Dragon Berry Modern Gilding Powders

Happy Monday! Kim here with a FUN gift card holder using the FALALALA die and But First Coffee stamp set! These two may not have ever been meant to”play” together, but play well they do!

Falalalala die designed by Suzanne Cannon for Elizabeth Craft Designs
Quietfire Design But First Coffee stamp set
This past summer I purchased a set of pewter reindeer ornaments. They were each individually packaged in burgundy envelopes, perfectly sized at just over 3.25” x 5”. I saved all nine and have been decorating them to used for gift cards! [ reduce-reuse-recycle! ]

I started by die-cutting my FALALALA die from a scrap. These dies....cut like butter! 😍

I then embossed the die cut using Dragon Berry Modern Gilding Powder. I used two coats to achieve this smooth, dimensional look. The colour is amazing and I LOVE how it keeps the details!

I stamped my coffee cup and quote onto some white Creative Scrapbooker Super Stock using Ranger Archival Black Ink.

Next, I edged my card using Distress Oxide Ink and adhered my embossed quote after running it through my Xyron. You could stop at this step, but why?

I stamped the coffee cup onto a scrap of water colour paper and quickly scribbled some colour on with my Derwent pencil crayons.

Using a water brush, I smoothed the colour out and cut along the lines of the image.

I like to edge hand cut images like this with a black marker. I used a few small adhesive foam squares and placed it on top of my original stamped image. Randomly placed sequins snow flakes, finish the gift card holder perfectly!

I have tucked in a $10 coffee card in a few of these. They will be the perfect little gift to say thank you to people who I want to acknowledge this time of year!

Coffee & Friends - Kim Gowdy, Guest Designer

Hello! I’m Kim Gowdy and I am popping in today with a quick card share for Quietfire Design.

I had the pleasure of helping Suzanne at the Great Canadian Scrapbook Carnival in September. I have worked her make-N-take table for the past few years, and always look forward to the “in-person” catching up.

It’s also a great time to take home a few new stamps to add to my growing collection!

The card I am sharing today, uses the But First, Coffee collection [#5697]! I LOVE it! I LOVE coffee…it was a match made in heaven!

The card itself was pretty simple to put together. I started with some Therm-o-web toner sheets and foil by Brutus Monroe! I have been on a bit of a foil kick lately…who doesn’t love some shimmer!

I inked over the foiled paper with Distress Oxides by Ranger Industries, completing the backdrop for Suzanne’s wonderful sentiment and coffee cup, which were embossed using some Emerald Creek embossing powders!

This fun all occasion card easily came together…now to decide which wonderful friend to gift it to!

Thanks for checking out my card! If you are a coffee lover as well…you NEED this awesome stamp set!

Coffee and Friends

When did you start drinking coffee?  I started after my second kid - and haven't stopped.  I'm still not a blank coffee drinker - I like my "froo froo" hazelnut but I admit it takes me all day to finish a cup.  And I always have a cup when crafting with a friend!

I started with a dark kraft card base and inked up some stains from the stamp set "Tea & Thee".  I then stamped the sentiment and two takeout coffee cups from the set "But first, coffee".  Just a bit of coloring with Copic markers and then adding some Crystal Effects to the hearts.

My final touch was to add a bit of hemp twine to a very simple card.  My kids are still home for the summer so simple is all I can manage most days now!  lol!

Life Happens, Coffee Helps....

Hello everyone,
The first thing I do when I get up is making myself a fresh cup of coffee....how I love the smell of freshly brewed coffee!
And then enjoying it cuddled up on the couch, often with our pup Noozy on my lap and seeing the garden come to life with the birds whistling....yep I love early mornings!

The lastest stamp release by Quietfire Design is tea and coffee themed...yay! what a pleasure to be presenting one of the sets to you called "But First, Coffee" (a set of 8 stamps!).

I colored the image with pencils.
Some simple layering and voila!

Used materials:

I hope you like the card.
Thanks for stopping by!

Hugs from Holland
