Look For The Dream Art Journal Page

Hey Quietfire Fans! For today's project I'm sharing with you my Look For The Dream Art Journal Page. By combining a variety of stamps, dies and the Modern Gilding Powders, they were perfect for creating my page. You'll want to grab a cup of your favourite beverage and learn how to recreate my Look For The Dream Art Journal Page at home.

To start, choose two pages in your art journal. Using a paintbrush, cover the two pages in a light coat of White Gesso. Once the gesso has dried, spritz Dylusions Spray Ink in Vibrant Turquoise, Fresh Lime and Lemon Zest on the two pages. Spritz the spray ink with water. Use a paper towel to remove the access ink. Allow the pages to dry.

With the pages dry, apply Emboss It Ink to the Grid Background stamp and stamp randomly six times on the right hand page. Reapply ink to the stamp as needed. Sprinkle Copper Scroll Modern Gilding Powder onto the stamped grid pattern. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with a heat tool. Apply Emboss It Ink to the Grid Background stamp and stamp randomly five times on the left hand page. Reapply ink to the stamp as needed. Sprinkle Copper Scroll Modern Gilding Powder onto the stamped grid pattern. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with a heat tool.

Apply Emboss It Ink to the Leafy Acanthus Background stamp and stamp randomly seven times on the right hand page. Reapply ink to the stamp as needed. Sprinkle Forever Platinum Modern Gilding Powder onto the stamped leafy acanthus pattern. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with a heat tool. Apply Emboss It Ink to the Leafy Acanthus Background stamp and stamp randomly six times on the left hand page. Reapply ink to the stamp as needed. Sprinkle Forever Platinum Modern Gilding Powder onto the stamped leafy acanthus pattern. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with a heat tool.

Apply Jet Black Archival Ink to the Grid Background and stamp onto a piece of Collage Paper. Reapply ink to the background stamp and stamp two more times on the same paper. Apply Jet Black Archival Ink to the Leafy Acanthus Background and stamp onto the same piece of collage paper. Reapply ink to the stamp and stamp onto the same piece of paper.

Tear up pieces of the Leafy Acanthus collage paper and the Grid Background paper. On the right hand page, adhere two pieces of Leafy Acanthus paper and one piece of Grid paper using a glue stick as desired on the page. On the left hand page, adhere one piece of Leafy Acanthus paper and two pieces of Grid paper using a glue stick as desired on the page.

Using the Peacock Feathers Distress Crayon, rub crayon along the edges of both pages. To add some highlighting around the embossed areas and collage papers, rub Distress Crayon in Twisted Citron and Squeezed Lemonade as desired.

Die cut a 2 1/2" Stitched Oval out of a piece of watercolour cardstock. Spritz Vibrant Turquoise, Fresh Lime and Lemon Zest onto the oval. Spritz the ink with water. Remove the excess ink with a piece of paper towel. Dry the oval with a heat tool. Apply Jet Black Archival Ink to the Look for the Dream stamp and stamp onto the middle of the oval. Apply Jet Black Archival Ink to the grid background and stamp randomly onto the oval as desired. Ink the edges of the oval using Black Soot Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Die cut the Flourished Oval Frame out of black cardstock.

Apply Peacock Feathers Distress Ink to the medium Flourish Corner stamp from the Flourished Corners stamp set and stamp onto a piece of white cardstock. Reapply ink to the stamp and stamp on the same piece of cardstock. Apply Squeezed Lemonade Distress Ink to the medium Flourish Corner stamp and stamp onto the same piece of white cardstock. Apply Jet Black Archival Ink to the large dragonfly from the Butterflies/Dragonflies stamp set and stamp onto a piece of watercolour cardstock. Apply Emboss It Ink to the Dragonfly word from the same stamp set and stamp onto a piece of white cardstock. Colour the dragonfly in using Turquoise and Lime Scribble Sticks with a waterbrush. Sprinkle Forever Platinum Modern Gilding Powder over the word. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with a heat tool. Fussy cut the dragonfly and dragonfly word out. Now we will start assembling the left hand page. Adhere the two scrolls 1/4" from the left and 2 1/2" from the top of the page. Adhere the peacock feathers corner 3/4" from the left and 1 1/4" from the top of the page. Adhere the squeezed lemonade corner 3" from the left and 1 5/8" from the bottom of the page.

Adhere one small butterfly to the right side of the oval. Adhere the remaining small butterfly to the right of the peacock feathers corner.

Adhere the squeezed lemonade corner 2 5/8" from the right and 1 3/8" from the top of the page. Adhere the large butterfly 2" from the right and 7/8" from the top of the page.

Foam square the tea ring that doesn't have the center cut out 1 1/8" from the right and 1 3/4" from the top of the page. Use adhesive and foam squares to adhere the other tea ring 1 1/2" from the right and 1 7/8" from the bottom of the page. Adhere the dragonfly to the middle of the tea rings. Stamp Focus: "Look for the dream"

Hello Crafty Friends!

Are you looking for an inspirational card for a friend considering a new career?  Or a loved one working hard on a goal?  Perhaps a family member is graduating soon?  The card I am sharing today has a wonderful and inspiring quote that is perfect for so many occasions.  The gorgeous calligraphy stamp is called "Look for the dream":
Look For The Dream - Mounted
The stamp is a beautiful focus for an inspirational card front.  For my card I created a simple inky background (spritzed with water) and cut to 3.75 wide x 5 high.  Versamark was applied along the edges and Modern Gilding Powder in Kells Gold was applied along the edges.
Next, the quote was stamped onto vellum paper using Staz On ink in black.  It was cut to 3.75 wide and the long edges torn.  Versamark was applied along the edges and Kells Gold was heat embossed.  The vellum was mounted onto the inky paper, mounted onto 4 x 5.25 lilac cardstock, and then mounted on a 4.25 x 5.5 card base.
A sweet little double bow was adhered as shown and the card was complete!

By combining a variety of stamps, dies and the Modern Gilding Powders, they were all perfect for creating my page. You'll want to grab a cup of your favourite beverage and learn how to recreate my cart journal page at home.

To start, apply Jet Black Archival Ink to the Wanderlust stamp. Stamp the word onto a piece of white cardstock. Fussy cut the word out. Ink the edges of the word using Black Soot Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Dry the dragonflies. Fussy cut all the dragonflies out. Ink the edges of the dragonflies using Black Soot Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam. Colour the wings of the dragonflies using the Wink of Stella - Clear Glitter pen.

Apply Jet Black Archival Ink to the Large Butterfly stamp from the Butterflies, Dragonflies stamp set. Stamp the large butterfly onto the same piece of watercolour. Let the circle dry and then rub Twisted Citron Distress Crayon along the edges of the circle.

Choose a couple of pages in your art journal and then choose a book and rip some pages out of it. Adhere the book pages to the left hand side of the page and then the right hand side of the page using Distress Collage Medium - Matte and a paint brush. Apply a coat of Distress Collage Medium - Matte overtop of the book pages on the pages. Allow to dry.

Apply two coats of White Gesso to both pages. While the gesso is still wet, use a baby wipe to wipe areas clean of the gesso on the pages as desired. Allow to dry.

On the right hand page, use Stabilo Woody pencils in Lime Green, Yellow and Turquoise to create a circle. To create the watercolour effect, take a paint brush and water and move the colour to give it a watercolour effect. Add more colour to the circle as desired and repeat the previous step. Blog Hop! Look for the Dream and 3D Foam Squares!

Good morning!  Sherry here and I would like to welcome you to the second day of our Blog Hop with Scrapbook Adhesives, makers of quality and creative adhesives!

Each day different designers will be sharing projects using both Quietfire Design and Scrapbook Adhesives product.

My project today is an altered frame using Quietfire Design, Look for the Dream, and 3D Foam Squares in both regular (1/2 inch) and mini.

March2014SCLookForTheDreamFrameLEFT

I began with a dollar frame from Michaels, that the regular (1/2”) 3D foam squares were added to around the outer edge.  Mini squares were used for the inner frame opening.  Once the 3D Foam Squares were added to the frame, a layer of gesso was added to secure the foam squares to the frame and to also cover up the adhesive on the top.

LookForTheDreamFrame

The frame was then painted with gray acrylic paint and when dry, was antiqued with white acrylic paint that had been mixed with a staining/antiquing medium.  Watercolor paper was trimmed for the backing of the sentiment area and painted the same colors.

March2014SCLookForTheDreamFrameCloseUP

The sentiment, Look for the Dream, was stamped in black and die cut/embossed with Classic Ovals SM.    A black background for the sentiment was die cut with Classic Ovals LG.   The 1/2” 3D Foam Squares were also used to mount the sentiment onto the black layer.  The flowers were made from watercolor paper with Grand Peony Creations and the leaves with Foliage.    The flower was colored with Fired Brick Distress Stain and the leaves with Forest Moss and Peeled Paint.
