LOVE does not consist....card

Hello everyone...Terre here with a creative card using Quietfire Designs "LOVE does not consist" stamp. I just received this stamp before I left for CHA and I think it is one of my new favorites..I think I say that about all of Quietfire Designs stamps...lol!

You will find lots of uses for this set way beyond V-Day.

This card is ATC size, held in place with a corner punch, and has the Have I Told You on one side and Happy Birthday on the other ( check for shout outs on my blog).

Stamped with Versafine Sepia, thermal embossed clear.

The easel stop starts as  a piece of chip board.

Stamp the Flourished Heart with Versafine Sepia on heavy cream paper and mold it onto the heart chip with wet glue.

The cards are colorized with Distress Ink, Spun Sugar , Tumbled Glass and Antique Linen.

The back of the card has room for a personal note. Stamped with the Flourished Border, Delicata Golden Glitz touched with Versafine Sepia

 Card below embossed with a Cuttlebug folder(shout out on my Blog), embellished with Spellbinders Labels One, stamped with Versafine Lagoon, thermal embossed clear.
The Tag is held in place with corners cut from a doilie.

Good morning!  Sherry here today and I have a quick and easy card to share with you.  When I first saw the new Spellbinders™ 3D M-Bossabilities™ folders, I knew that it would be a match made in heaven when teamed with the elegance of Suzanne’s calligraphy.  That open embossed banner on the front of the folders lends itself well to beautiful sentiments.

Recently I had the opportunity to pick up the Thank You Set of 4, and it so happens that I had an idea even then for this card.



The first thing I did, was die cut/embossed 3 sheets of watercolor paper using the new Spellbinders die templates for 5x7 card and for the front cover.  Those dies are S6-001 5x7 Matting Basic A, S6-002 5x7 Matting Basics B and E3D-003 Delightful Daisies.  All of these dies are available for pre-order here at Quietfire.

The Delightful Daisies folder was inked with peach pigment ink, the smallest watercolor paper layer was misted with gold perfect pearls and water and then placed in the M-Bossabilities folder.  Once the paper was embossed, it was removed, dried with a heat gun, and then the edges were inked with more of the same peach ink.



The sentiment was aligned, stamped in the same peach ink and then embossed with clear embossing powder.  To keep the card simple and easily mailed, a sheer ribbon was used down the front.  To keep from covering up any of the stamping, a small slit was cut at the top and bottom of the banner to that I could run the ribbon through.



The edges of the remaining two layers of watercolor paper with sponged with the same peach ink, misted with the gold perfect pearl/water mixture and then assembled.

MC Jan/13 Quill Fringing - Some People

My turn again and you guessed it - another quilled creation... Again this is a simple quilling technique since it uses a die to cut the fringe, then all you need to do is wrap a tight coil. BIG GRIN

The main card is cream toned, side folded (5"w x 7"h). I used a Craft Concepts embossing folder (Weaving Block set) for the background, shifting it to do the full card front. Then lightly touched the high points with a sponging tool and Distress Walnut Stain pad.

Next layer is the lace piece (Just Rite "Lace Background"), stamped on cream cardstock with Versafine Vintage Photo and touched here and there with Black Onyx, then clear embossed. Cut close to the stamping and sponged with Distress (Brushed Corduroy, Vintage Photo, lightly with Dried Marigold, and the edges with Walnut Stain). Adhered to card front.

Adhered the glittery brown ribbon.

The vase (Serendipity Stamps "Vase Set") is stamped on cream cardstock with Distress Pumice Stone and clear embossed, then colored with Pan Pastels using a Quilled Creations sponge tip applicator. Cut out and made a slit in the center vase to stuff my die cut branches through. Branches (Memory Box "Leafy Branch") die cut from dark brown cardstock.

PS a quilling friend gave me one of the gold edge Reader's Digest books, so the beige toned (as in not acid free...) flowers are die cut from these pages using a Quilled Creations "Mum" die, the darker one has the gold edging which you can't really see in the image, sorry. Rolled my Reader's Digest fringed flowers around tight coils of either brown or bright yellow paper. Adding a small rhinestone in the centers. The white fringed flowers are die cut from Arches Text Wove paper - a really great paper for quilling.

Stamped my quote (Quietfire Design) - same as lace background and clear embossed. Die cut with Spellbinders Label Four, cut off the edge on the right side and adhered to card front with a double layer of 3D adhesive tape to make it really stand up.

Hi Y'all, Monica here this morning. Today I have a quick and easy tag for you.
 

The background uses the Distress Spritz and Flick technique. Stamp saying, Wheresoever you go - go with all your heart, with Archival Jet Black Ink. Above and below the saying you will see one of the images from the new Valentine's Day 2013 Release, Ornamental Heart Border. It was stamped with Distress Ink Fired Brick. Add some fibers and you're done.

SOME THINGS ARE FELT- CARD -CRAYON RESIST EMBOSSING

 Hi Everyone! This is Holly and I'm hoping to inspire you with a technique today. Crayon Resist Embossing is easy to do and very versatile.

The first card uses white crayon and the second uses silver crayon. Begin by embossing the white card stock and leaving it in the folder. I used Heart Blocks and Imperial embossing folders. Drag the side of the crayon over the raised embossing which is supported by being in the folder. Remove from the folder, brush off any crayon crumbs and apply the ink(s). I sponged on the ink but you can also apply it by brush or spray. Lightly buff the surface with a tissue, to remove any excess ink and give the crayon a bit of shine. I also went around the edges of the hearts with the silver crayon.

*If crayon gets onto the folder, clean it with a damp cloth, a baby wipe or scrub it under the tap.

That's the technique-simple and very exploratory.
Other parts of the first card include;

 

Distress ink  brushed on to colour the heart, with Lumiere Super Sparkle brushed on the dry ink, then coated with Diamond Glaze and set aside to dry.

The same ink was sponged along the edges of the card and card stock layers, then edged with black ink.

This same ink, Archival Jet Black was used to stamp Some Things are Felt and Love Does Not Consist for each card.

The Only True Gift....Card

Hello Everyone, Terre here with another crafty card using Quietfire Designs stamps.
For this card I used "The Only True Gift" stamp, My Minds eye pattern paper, Spellbinders Labels Twenty-Five,  Spellbinders Wonderful Wings, Want2Scrap's Labels Twenty-Five Nestabling and Nestaboard.

After I stamped my sentiment, I air brushed the white cardstock to make the sentiment pop.

I die cut my butterflies out of pattern paper and added some pearls to create their body.

How Old Would You Be, Flourish,Life Journey Words,Happy Birthday, If You Need a Shoulder...

Happy New Year Y'all and I hope it will be a year filled with creativity and Peace for all!

Shout out to Sue B who introduced me to this card structure during the Byhand Artist 12 Days of Christmas swap.

This is a birthday card about 3 weeks late, so I love this sentiment.

Journey on the tag is from the Life Journey Words Set.

The back of the card-left plain for personalization has Happy Birthday from the Happy Family Days Set. 

The Flourish is stamped in Versafine Sepia (NYR to use more colors of Versafine!LOL) and Happy Birthday was stamped in Ranger sticky emboss and then Glitter Ritz Frosty Mint (NYR-get more colors of Glitter Ritz!!)

To make the card you start with these pieces

 You only need one label- the others were from other cards I'll show at the end of the post.

The base is 11"x3 3/4" and you score at 5 1/2" and 2 1/2"

You need 5 cover papers- scraps are great for this( note to Yogi!)

2-3 1/2 x2 5/8

2-3 1/2 x 2 1/4 

all measurements in inches

I cut the tag from a T!m Holtz Sizzix Tag and Bookplate die- you can use any tag and label.

Glue everything together, position your label with some dimentional adhesive-I use fun foam and wet glue.

Folded flat it fits nicely into an envelope if you don't embellish too much.

Above is an ATC version-the base is 3 1/2" x 10" scored at 5" and 2 1/2".

The ATC is held in place by a corner punch- you could just cut slits.

Unfortunately this is a condolence card .

A Journey of a Thousand Miles . . .

begins with a single step!

Good morning!  Sherry here today and I’ve got a mixed media project to share with you.

Much to my dismay, when I went down to my storage area looking for one of the small wood frames I keep on hand, I didn’t have a one left.  I must have used the last one recently for another project and I haven’t had time to get out and do any junk store shopping to fill my stash back up.  Because I had my heart set on using this specific sentiment today - - A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step - - I decided to make a frame from chipboard.

The frame was made by die cutting thin chipboard pieces with Spellbinders Grand Labels One and Labels One and then layering them all together.  In total, the base is 4 pieces and the top frame is 6, leaving an opening for me to mount the sentiment on one piece and popping it up with foam tape.



The top layer of the frame is made with gold embossing foil that was embossed with Spellbinders Dainty Dots M-Bossabilities and sanded to show the gold layer beneath.



The flowers are made with watercolor paper that was die cut with Rose Creations.  Each petal was colored with Dried Marigold and Fired Brick Distress Stains, misted with Heirloom Gold Perfect Pearls and water, and then shaped and scrunched while they were still damp.

The leaves were colored with Vintage Photo, Peeled Paint and Forest Moss Distress Stains, misted with the same Heirloom Gold solution and shaped while damp.  The flourishes were die cut from watercolor paper with the flourish/flair from Venetian Motifs and then painted with a gold leafing pen.

DT Jan/13 - Quill Weed Love

Happy New Year everyone. May 2013 be the best and most creative one...

Anyone following my blog knows I love quilling... So thought I'd make a card with the most basic quill shapes that anyone can do - BIG GRIN. You do need some limber fingers though... but no special tools.

You don't even need to buy quilling strips - just use some text weight copy paper or something similar like Canson Ingres, Light weight scrapbook paper etc. Cut 8" strips 1/8"wide with a ruler and x-acto blade or a rotary cutter. Each of the white & cream toned floret pieces are 4"long (I used 33 pcs white & 14 cream) & some cream and mid toned green for the stems. Die cut Leaves made from Sizzix Tim's Tattered Poinsettia die, colored and then cut apart.

This card is side folded 4.25"w x 5.5"h made from dark blue cardstock.

Moisten the tip of the white quill strip (not wet, just dampened between your lips), start a wrap around the point of your awl, or pin tip, then with your left hand fingers - thumb & pointer - press against the needle tip and twist/slide fingers to roll the paper. Continue rolling till your 4" piece of paper is tightly coiled and relatively even edges (they can be tamped down after removing from your tool). With a toothpick put a miniscule dab of white glue on the end of the paper strip and glue to coil. Hold the end for a couple seconds to ensure adhesion. Remove from tool using your fingernail to push up against the coil and tool - otherwise the coil may come apart from the center... Continue with other 32 pieces of paper... Tap the coil with your finger or press down with a small flat object to get the coils even.

For the cream toned oval coils, same procedure as above, but wrapping around a bamboo skewer instead - so you get a larger hole in the center when coiled. After gluing the end, pinch the coil at the glue end to create the oval shape.

Glue some strips to your card front for the stems by using your thumbnail to curl the paper a bit - similar to putting a curl on curling ribbon. Apply a thin bead of glue to the edge of the paper strip with a toothpick and then shaping on card front. HINT: You can put a piece of waxed paper on your card to protect it from excessive glue as you press down one part of the stem at a time, pulling the waxed paper out as you progress.  I used cream paper for the Queen Anne's lace flower and the pale green for the weed flowers. Long thin leaves are just a piece of green strip folded in half (ranging from a 2" strip to about a 5" piece), pinched at the top and adhered with a bead of glue along the edges and to the stem.

Die cut the smallest poinsettia, color with Distress Stain "Mowed lawn", dried, then cut points toward the center, scored to create a center vein on each leaf, then adhered to flower.

Sentiment stamped with Perfect Medium and embossed with white embossing powder.

Inside - stamped the flower (Magenta "Botanicals" #CS-043) and quote with the Perfect Medium and the white embossing powder.
