Merry Christmas Wreath - Card

Hi there!  It's Suzanne today with a card using the calligraphic wreath from the new Snowflakes are the Butterflies stamp set. Oooh, where to start with this stamp.  So many possibilities!

I fussed quite a bit with design.  The more complicated it got, the less I liked it!  So I went simple colour coordination.

I really like the foiled script paper, so did my best to match it.  Olive green for Christmas - well why not!?

I'm always happy when I find one of the stamps unexpectedly fits inside a Spellbinders die.  This was a bit snug, but I didn't cut off any of the flourishes! It did work a bit better by turning the square into a diamond.

If the truth be told I had to finesse one of the flourishes which didn't quite stamp nicely - that's one of the great things about stamping with Distress Ink.  If it's not perfect, you can sometimes fix it with Distress Markers.

The wreath was stamped with Crushed Olive, but the colour blending around the edge was the darker Peedled Paint. I coloured the pearls using a few drops of Red Pepper Alcohol Ink.  Pretty nice effect, I thought! (Yes, I'm smug about the colouring!)

I Will Honour Christmas Card

Ho, Ho, Ho and all that holiday Cheer!!! Terre here with another festive Christmas card with Quietfire Designs amazing stamps. For this holiday card I used one of my favorite Christmas stamps "I will Honour Christmas". I saw this is my favorite stamp because it seems to be the one that I keep picking up and using and that's not a bad thing...right?

For this card I also use Spellbinders Create Flake Two and Create a Flake Three, dusted them with some diamond dust and there you have it, they glisten just like the fall of a new snow.

This card reminds me of an old world style Christmas and the stamp "I Will Honour Christmas" a snip it from Charles Dickens just seemed to fit this card perfectly.

Snowflakes are the Butterflies of Winter

There is a flurry of activity in Robyn's studio over these new Holiday Stamps and I'm sure your creative wings will be all aflutter when you get your own set.

This is a fun interactive seasonal card.

Left, you see it closed and when you pull on the sides of the card it opens to reveal your sentiment.

I started with two pieces of 90lb watercolor paper, 5x7 inches and embossed with a T!m snowflake folder. With the paper still in the folder dab the raised flakes with an acrylic paint dabber for texture and resist.

The background is painted with a brush using Salty Ocean and Pewter Distress stain, mixed with some water. The acrylic paint will make this easier as a resist.
My new best friend is the Faber -Castell Big White Stamp Pen. Any boo boos are easily covered with the india ink from it's hard bullet tip. This is the best opaque white I have used in pen form, if you don't need a fine tip. Waterproof too, when dry.

Score both sheets at 1" and 1 1/2" on both short sides and fold.

Cut the opening out of Spellbinders Butterfly circles and use the cutout to stamp the quote.

Here you see it opened! Fun!

The quote is stamped in Versafine Onyx and thermal embossed clear. Use the ink blending tool to colorize the outside of the circle with Stormy Sky Distress. Glue that on to the back sheet centered into your front opening

Now for the tricky part.  I cut two sets of strips of butterflies  with a punch and covered them with Stickles frosted lace and let dry.

 Make 2 tabs about 1x2inches.

Put your front and back together to figure out where the tabs should go and glue your butterfly strips to them. 

This is a bit of a wiggly process. You can hold everything together with some repositionable adhesive or clips.

Once you know where everything goes, glue your tabs to the back and glue the front to the back.

I added some Stardust pen and Stickles for accents- can't see them in the photo.

A dimensional card that easily fits through the dreaded postal 'slot'.

The butterfly cutouts from the die make great confetti to add to your envies!

Peace on Earth!

Good morning!  Sherry here and I’ve got project to share using Peace on Earth today!  You could use this as either a gift tag for a package or an ornament for the tree.  I think it would work well in either case.

The base is chipboard that was die cut with Spellbinders™ 2012 Heirloom Ornament.   I used My Mind’s Eye Lost & Found Christmas for the project, and die cut/embossed a matching piece to cover the chipboard ornament.
 
The sentiment was stamped on a matching sheet from the MME Pad in Forest Moss Distress Ink, then die cut/embossed with Spellbinders Circles SM.  

Using coordinating paper from the pad, layers for the sentiment were die cut/embossed with Spellbinders Large Circles and Eyelet Circles.  A rosette was made by cutting a strip of cardstock 1.5” and scored every 1/2 inch.  The edges of the rosette were sponged with white ink and then covered with Rock Candy Distress Stickles.  

Seam binding was dyed with Forest Moss and Aged Mahogany Distress Stains.

Dec/12 - Scene - Xmas Mittens

Yogi here... Love this latest batch of Xmas rubber. This card came together really quickly, especially if you have a large scenic stamp to fill the area.

Stamped my scenic image (Stampendous "Forest Cottage Scene") with Versafine Black Onyx on a side folded white 5"w x 7"h card. Colored with Prisma colors. Added some white Puffy Velvet to the roofs and heat to puff, then squished it down a bit.

Stamped the sentiment on white cardstock with the black and clear embossed. Die cut with Spellbinders scalloped circle and sponged around the edges with Distress Worn Lipstick.

Drew out some mittens on a scrap of white cardstock, colored with Prisma colors and some Distress red, cut out, punched a hole on the edge of the mitten and on the die cut scallop. Tied together with some embroidery floss.  Adhered the scalloped circle to card front. Then added some white glue to the knot and added the white pearlescent star.

Die cut some snowflakes (Sizzix Tim's Mini snowflakes dies) from white cardstock, inked with Perfect Medium, clear embossed and while still hot and semi liquid, sprinkled Stampendous Crystal Snow glitter and gently pressed it into the hot embossed area using a scrap piece of release paper. Adhered to card.

Decided I wanted some texture around the edges of the card, so used Tim's embossing folder snowflakes border and my rubber mallet.

As a final touch added some cross hatching with a black Zig Writer to mimic sewing around the scenic design.

Snowflakes are the Butterflies!

Sherry here with you today!  I’ve been in a tag and snowflake making mood recently and what better thing to hit my mailbox yesterday, but the new Quietfire Design set – Snowflakes are the Butterflies.

This tag was made with watercolor paper that was misted with a combination of Tumbled Glass and Evergreen Bough Distress Ink Refills that were mixed with water and Heirloom Gold Perfect Pearls.  While the paper was still damp, it was embossed with Spellbinders Holiday Magic M-Bossabilities.  Leaving the paper damp gives such deep embossing and adding some Perfect Pearls to the water mixture gives great shimmer.

The sentiment was stamped in Tsukineko Delicata Golden Glitz Ink and embossed with Clear Super Fine Detail Embossing Powder.  The sentiment was then die cut/embossed with Spellbinders Ovals LG.  The background layer to the sentiment is another piece of watercolor paper misted with the same Distress Ink mixture and then die cut/embossed with Spellbinders Floral Ovals.  Both layers of the sentiment, including the tag, were edged with Krylon Gold Leafing Pen.

The snowflakes are white shipping labels that were die cut with a combination of Spellbinders Create-A-Flake Three, Create-A-Flake Four and the 2012 Snowflake Ornament.  Each piece was covered with Glossy Accents and sprinkled with Krystallos Vintage Glass Glitter.  The flourishes were die cut from a white shipping tag with the flair from Spellbinders Venetian Motifs and painted with the Krylon Gold Leafing Pen.

The seam binding ribbon was dyed with a combination of Evergreen Bough Distress Ink and then misted with the Tumbled Glass Perfect Pearl mixture.

SNOWFLAKES ARE THE BUTTERFLIES-CARDS

 

Hi Everyone! This is Holly and I'm very excited to present my cards today. There's a brand new stamp set available now at Quietfire Design, called Snowflakes Are the Butterflies 

There are six stamps in the set and this card uses four of them, with Distress Inks.

'Christmas' was stamped with Pumice Stone, then 'Merry' was stamped over it with Chipped Sapphire. I trim my stamps fairly close so it was easy to see the Christmas image and center the Merry image over it. The same Chipped Sapphire ink was used for the main sentiment as well. Milled Lavender was used for the snowflakes and the sponging around the outside edge.  Pumice Stone was also sponged around the edge.

Design paper from the Webster Pages Triple Pack was used to block the sentiment. A little bling here and there and it was done. I was on a roll and this happened....

I don't think it took five minutes to complete this card.

This beautiful stamp set is filled with design possibilities.

Look for the dream Card

Hi Y'all, Monica here today.  Here's a quick and easy card. 

Apply Distress Stain, Picket Fence to middle of cardstock to act as a resist.  Use  Ink Blending Tool and Distress Inks (Spun Sugar, Worn Lipstick, Shaded Lilac, Dusty Concord) to create a Spritz & Flick background.  Emboss with Crafts-Too Embossing Folder, Swirl Frame.  While the cardstock is still in the embossing folder, use blending tool to highlight the swirls.  Stamp Look For The Dream with Archival Ink Pad, Jet Black.  Use Tim Holtz Paper Distresser and rub edges with Distress Ink, Dusty Concord.  Add tiny rhinestones to the stars for a bit of sparkle.  Attach to base card with Be Creative Sookwang double-sided tape.
