There Are Many Gifts ~ Christmas Card

Quietfire Design There Are Many Gifts stamp set / CopperScroll Gilding Powders / Christmas card designed by Kim Gowdy

Monday mornings are a whole lot more fun when I get to share some creative play on the Quietfire Creations Blog! Over the weekend I was working to get a few more Christmas cards completed, time is ticking away and soon I’ll need to get my cards in the mail! Quietfire Design has some beautiful stamp sets with amazing quotes and images, it was hard to decide which to create with. Once I choose to play with the “There Are Many Gifts” set...the fun started!

My background was created with three colours of Distress Oxide inks, blended on top of Creative Scrapbooker Superstock. Lately I have been grabbing greens, but any combination of Distress Oxides always seem to work perfectly!

Once my layers were blended, I splattered water over top very randomly. I like to let it sit for a bit before lifting excess water with paper towel. This adds lots of visual texture and interest. I often soften the water spots with some more blended ink.

I stamped the sentiment from the stamp set with Vintage Photo Distress Oxide and then embossed with the Copper Scroll Modern Gilding Powder. Oxide inks are fluid and wet enough to use with embossing powders. I used the same ink to the edges of my cardstock.

I made a decorative element by embossing a chipboard die cut with Copper Scroll Modern Gilding Powder. Embossed chipboard is YUMMY!!! I love it! I layered a mono print and a Tim Holtz Paper Doll to create a frame, that sits just above my sentiment.

I felt it needed just a little something else, so I stamped a few random stars (from the same stamp set) on the background and glued on a few snowflake sequins. Sometimes it’s the smallest detail that makes me go from liking a card to loving it!

This card is beautiful, I love the blended distress ink background, and the tone-on-tone stamped stars are a nice detail. Teal is so pretty with the copper gilding powder.
