Live Like Someone Left the Gate Open Art Journal Page

Hey Quietfire Fans! For today's project I'm sharing with you my Live Like Someone Left the Gate Open Art Journal Page. I combined a variety of stamps, A Way With Words Dies and Modern Gilding Powders which were all perfect for creating this art journal page. You'll want to grab a cup of your favourite beverage and learn how to recreate my Live Like Someone Left the Gate Open Art Journal Page at home.

To start, you'll need an art journal. Start on the right hand page. Spritz water and then spritz Dylusions Ink Spray in Blue Lagoon, Island Parrot and Fiery Sunset. Dab off the excess ink spray and allow to dry.

Spritz water on the left hand page and then spritz Dylusions Ink Spray in Blue Lagoon, Island Parrot and Fiery Sunset. Dab off the excess ink spray and allow to dry.

Apply Detail Black Ink to the Grid Background Stamp and stamp randomly five times of the right hand side of the page. Reapply ink to the stamp as needed. Apply Detail Black Ink to the Grid Background stamp and stamp randomly five times on the left hand side of the page. Reapply ink to the stamp as needed.

Rub Black Soot Distress Crayon along the edges of both pages.

Die cut a 1 3/4" and a 2 1/4" Fitted Indented Rectangles out of a piece of kraft cardstock. Apply Emboss It Ink to the Dotted Harlequin Background stamp and stamp onto the 1 3/4" rectangle. Sprinkle Forever Platinum Modern Gilding Powders over the stamped rectangle. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with a heat tool. Apply Emboss It Ink to the Dotted Harlequin Background stamp and stamp onto the 2 1/4" rectangle. Sprinkle Forever Platinum Modern Gilding Powders over the stamped rectangle. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with a heat tool. Ink the edges of both rectangles using Black Soot Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

From the Flourished Frame die, you'll need the scroll. Die cut the scroll once out of black cardstock and a second time out of a piece of white cardstock.

From the Butterfly Flourish die, you'll need the medium butterfly. Die cut the medium butterfly once out of white cardstock and a second time out of vellum.

Die cut the Peace on Earth die out of white cardstock.

Apply Emboss It Dabber to the Live Like Someone quote from the Live Like Someone Left the Gate Open stamp set and stamp onto a piece of white cardstock. Sprinkle Gothic Black Modern Gilding Powders over the stamped image. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with a heat tool. Fussy cut the quote out. Ink the edges of the cut out quote using Black Soot Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

From the There Are Many Gifts Stamp, you'll need the star stamp. Apply Candied Apple Distress Ink to the stamp and stamp onto a piece of white cardstock. Reapply ink to the stamp and stamp another three times, reapply ink as needed. Apply Twisted Citron Distress Ink to the stamp and stamp onto a piece of white cardstock. Reapply ink to the stamp and stamp another two times, reapply ink as needed. Apply Mermaid Lagoon Distress Ink to the stamp and stamp onto a piece of white cardstock. Reapply ink to the stamp and stamp another three times, reapply ink as needed. Apply Squeezed Lemonade Distress Ink to the stamp and stamp onto a piece of white cardstock. Reapply ink to the stamp and stamp another two times, reapply ink as needed. Fussy cut all of the stars out.

Now we will put the right page together.
Adhere the white scroll 1 1/4" from the right and 1/2" from the bottom of the page. Foam square the 1 3/4" rectangle 3/8" from the right and 7/8" from the bottom of the page. Foam square the Live Like Someone quote to the middle of the rectangle.

Adhere one green star in the top right corner of the rectangle. Adhere a red and green star in the bottom left corner of the rectangle. Adhere a red, blue and yellow star in the top left corner of the rectangle.

Now we will put the left page together.
Adhere the Peace on Earth die cut 1 3/4" from the right and 1 1/8" from the bottom of the page. Foam square the 2 1/4" rectangle 1 3/8" from the left and 1 3/4" from the bottom of the page. Adhere the black scroll to the middle of the rectangle.

Adhere the vellum butterfly to the white butterfly. Foam square the white butterfly to the middle of the black scroll.

Adhere a red, yellow and blue star in the top left corner of the rectangle. Adhere a blue and yellow star in the bottom left corner of the rectangle. Adhere a red, blue and green star in the bottom right corner of the rectangle.

Christmas slide out pocket card

Hello Crafty Friends!

Christmas card making is in full swing!  My craft table is covered in bits of holiday colored paper, pretty Christmas stamps, and sweet premade bows.  Holidays bring out the joy in our spirit and that is translated to handmade cards to loved ones.

Today's project is an interactive card with a lovely holiday message.  Both stamps used on the card are from the There are Many Gifts stamp set available at Emerald Creek:
Such a sweet stamp set!  The ornate tree looks great stamped in green with wee baubles applied using Nuvo drops or half pearls.  After stamping, it was mounted on patterned paper and mounted onto a card front using double sided foam tape.  Next, the sentiment was stamped onto paper and mounted onto a tag.  The tag slides easily under the stamped tree image and adds a special detail to the card.
If you do not want to make it a slide out pocket card, the tree is gorgeous by itself on the card front and the sentiment could be stamped on the inside.
I am a big fan of cards with a fun little detail such as a slide out tag.  It makes a card even more special.  :)
Thank you for stopping by!  I do hope you enjoyed the holiday card.
Feel free to check out more of Suzanne's stamps, dies and Modern Gilding powders at Emerald Creek.

Have a happy, crafty day!
Big Hugs,
Kathy Jo

There Are Many Gifts ~ Christmas Card

Quietfire Design There Are Many Gifts stamp set / CopperScroll Gilding Powders / Christmas card designed by Kim Gowdy

Monday mornings are a whole lot more fun when I get to share some creative play on the Quietfire Creations Blog! Over the weekend I was working to get a few more Christmas cards completed, time is ticking away and soon I’ll need to get my cards in the mail! Quietfire Design has some beautiful stamp sets with amazing quotes and images, it was hard to decide which to create with. Once I choose to play with the “There Are Many Gifts” set...the fun started!

My background was created with three colours of Distress Oxide inks, blended on top of Creative Scrapbooker Superstock. Lately I have been grabbing greens, but any combination of Distress Oxides always seem to work perfectly!

Once my layers were blended, I splattered water over top very randomly. I like to let it sit for a bit before lifting excess water with paper towel. This adds lots of visual texture and interest. I often soften the water spots with some more blended ink.

I stamped the sentiment from the stamp set with Vintage Photo Distress Oxide and then embossed with the Copper Scroll Modern Gilding Powder. Oxide inks are fluid and wet enough to use with embossing powders. I used the same ink to the edges of my cardstock.

I made a decorative element by embossing a chipboard die cut with Copper Scroll Modern Gilding Powder. Embossed chipboard is YUMMY!!! I love it! I layered a mono print and a Tim Holtz Paper Doll to create a frame, that sits just above my sentiment.

I felt it needed just a little something else, so I stamped a few random stars (from the same stamp set) on the background and glued on a few snowflake sequins. Sometimes it’s the smallest detail that makes me go from liking a card to loving it!

Stamp and Gilding Powder Focus: "There are many gifts" elegant holiday card

 Hello Crafty Friends!

'Tis the season to finish up your holiday cards for friends and loved ones.  With Suzanne Cannon's lovely products, you can create an elegant card for someone to cherish for now and forever.

Today's card used three of Suzanne's products: The There are many gifts stamp set
There Are Many Gifts - Set of 3 Stamps - Mounted
Kells Gold Gilding Powder
Kells Gold
Burnished Silver Gilding Powder
Burnished Silver
The background was created using two stencils and watermark ink.  With the first stencil I applied Kells Gold Gilding Powder and the second stencil Burnished Silver Gilding Powder.  Isn't it stunning?
The elegant stamp was heat embossed using Kells Gold Gilding Powder.  The Burnished Silver Gilding Powder was also applied onto a doily edge die.  It added a gorgeous contrast on top of the ribbon.
A gold satin triple bow with a gem was the finishing touch on the timelessly beautiful Suzanne Cannon inspired card.  This card is going to someone very special on my card list!

Product used:
