I will write peace on your wings

Hi, Diana here today to share with you a card I made with the "I will write Peace" stamp and how I changed it up just a bit for a second card with the same layout to show you how different materials can be swapped in and out.

After I stamped the quote on a sheet of white card stock, I used the slope die from Elizabeth Craft Designs Adventure Edges.  Now you can simply sketch and cut out a wavy line but the dies makes it a bit easier and cleaner as I wanted to do this twice.

The second time I did it I had the bottom point touch and the top about an inch and a half apart to make a small V shape cutout.

I then used green and blue Copic markers to color the inside.  I popped the white layer up on foam tape on a blue card base but not the colored swatch to add depth to the card.  I also added a butterfly from the Butterfly Flourish die set covered in Elizabeth Craft Design Microfine Glitter Silver Sands.

After I did, I thought about how I could have made it using different mediums.  This time I stamped and embossed with Gothic Black Modern Gilding powders.  It made the quote defined and just more striking. 

The other change I made was to use a gradient of Silk Microfine Glitter for my swatch of color instead of Copics.  Since I used the glitter for the background, I switched to Burnished Silver Modern Gilding powders for my butterfly.

I love both of these cards - they each have their own beauty to them.  Hope that inspires you to play around - because that's what it's all about!  Have some fun.

New Year Cheers Card

Happy New Year! Kim here, hoping everyone had a lovely holiday season, shared with friends and family! I certainly did! The New Year is certainly a time to raise our glasses with lots of good cheer! It’s also a time I love to send cheer to friends I may have missed sending a Christmas card to!

Today’s card share is a simple design that uses Quietfire Design’s Cheers die as the element that packs the most punch on the card!

I layered 4 cuts of card-stock “cheers” and then embossed with Burnished Silver Gilding Powder. It looks amazing in real life, like a heavy, metal embellishment!

Before cutting each layer of the word “cheers” I added a piece of double sided adhesive to my card-stock, making it easy to layer the pieces together.

Once my word embellishment was created, I layered patterned paper, acetate ephemera and  sticker phrase from Pink Fresh’s Just A Little Lovely collection with my DIY Cheers word. I love how it tuned out!

This is a great time of the year to send cheer to friends who live away. I promise it will put a smile in their heart!

I was asked to do some decoration for the dinner table on Christmas Eve. So I came up with this Christmas ball ornaments. This is a combination of a digital file, dies, stamps and gilding powders.

Stamp and Gilding Powder Focus: "There are many gifts" elegant holiday card

 Hello Crafty Friends!

'Tis the season to finish up your holiday cards for friends and loved ones.  With Suzanne Cannon's lovely products, you can create an elegant card for someone to cherish for now and forever.

Kells Gold Gilding Powder

Burnished Silver Gilding Powder

The background was created using two stencils and watermark ink.  With the first stencil I applied Kells Gold Gilding Powder and the second stencil Burnished Silver Gilding Powder.  Isn't it stunning?

The elegant stamp was heat embossed using Kells Gold Gilding Powder.  The Burnished Silver Gilding Powder was also applied onto a doily edge die.  It added a gorgeous contrast on top of the ribbon.

A gold satin triple bow with a gem was the finishing touch on the timelessly beautiful Suzanne Cannon inspired card.  This card is going to someone very special on my card list!

Kindness Wreath Wine Tag Tutorial - Margie Higuchi, Guest Designer

Hey everyone! I am excited to be back as a guest designer for Quietfire Design to dress up a bottle of wine with a sparkly tag for the holiday season! My Kindness Wreath Wine Tag highlights the Kindnessis Like Snow Stamp Set and Modern GildingPowder in Burnished Silver.

Wine Tag Basics

With a 4 x 10-inch strip of white cardstock, score at 3.5-inches on the long side. Either punch or die-cut a 2 3/8-inch circle on the short side of the score line.

On the long side of the score line, ink the four edges with VersaMarkInk Pad. Pour Modern GildingPowder in Burnished Silver over the inked areas, tap off excess and melt with a heating tool for a beautiful distressed edge. Set aside.

Cut a 3.5 x 6 1/8-inch rectangle panel from red cardstock. Ink the four edges with VersaMarkInk Pad. Pour Modern GildingPowder in Burnished Silver over the inked areas, tap off excess and melt with a heating tool. Set aside.

A Unique Wreath

Cut a 2.75-inch ring (with a 0.25-inch width) out of white cardstock. Cut the black backing of the Creative Photo Corner Silver. Start with two photo corners by tucking one corner into the other to create a chain of photo corners and work around the ring to create your wreath.

Using the wreath as a guide, stamp the snow design from the Kindnessis Like Snow Stamp Set using the VersaMark Ink Pad and Modern Gilding Powder in Burnished Silver. Tap off excess and melt with a heating tool.

Secure the wreath with 3D Foam Circles over the stamped image.

Add the Sentiment

Stamp the sentiment from the Kindness is Like Snow Stamp Set using the VersaMark Ink Pad and Modern Gilding Powder in Burnished Silver onto a strip of 1 5/8 x 4.5-inch white vellum. Tap off excess and melt with a heating tool.

Fold the white vellum ends over the red panel edges and secure it with Adhesive Lines. Add Crafty Foam Tape Black on the back of the red panel and adhere to the wine tag base.

It’s ready for the holiday festivities to begin! Take a second look.

Fourished Deer ~ Believe in the Magic!

Hello! Kim here again on the Quietfire Creative Blog. I’m excited to share another card using the new seasonal release! With so many new dies and stamps, it’s hard to choose what to play with! The Flourished Deer is definitely one of my absolute favourites!

So I had this wonderful idea for my card...that failed! I was a bit frustrated, walked away and came back to salvage my idea and in the end, I LOVE the final result!

First I used the snowflake die from Flourished Mini 2. I die cut several snowflakes and placed them on top of my gel plate. 

I brayered a few acrylic paints over them in blues and black, allowing the Dior cuts to be some masks. I carefully lifted them from my gel plate before taking my pull. I splatters some white acrylic paint on my mono print to keep the snowy feel to my print.

I was quite pleased with my final print and was ready to use it as a background for my card. I die cut a Flourished Deer and embossed with Burnished Silver, a Modern Gilding Powder. I was pretty excited with how gorgeous it turned out. 

This is when it went downhill. My thought was to have the Flourished Deer flying through the snowy sky! How magical!? Not the case! Individually my parts where all great! However, when I added the deer...he got lost. There was too much going on and the scale wasn’t working. Despite turning and flipping the background, it was not going to work for me! This is when I walked away, frustrated!

The next day I came back with one last attempt to salvage the card. I had an old piece of light blue vellum in my stash. I cut it down, placed it over my busy mono-print and it instantly softened the look and made it recede to the background allowing the gilded Flourished Deer to take centre stage, where it belonged! 

My sentiment is from the Let Your Heart be Light collection, also part of the newest release! It is perfect for the magic the Flourished Deer brings to the card. I’m happy I stayed the course with this card, it really makes me smile!
