Big Balloon Shaker Card

Hello, Connie Nichol here today with shaker cards featuring the Big Balloon die from Quietfire Design.  I had picked up a bunch of birthday confetti from my local dollar store, and that inspired these shaker cards.  They are super simple to make.

Just use the Big Balloon die to cut out the balloon on any kind of cardstock.   Dry emboss the cardstock if you wish.  Glue a piece of acetate to the back of this die cut, then place dimensional foam tape all around the perimeter of the die cut piece.  Add dollar store confetti, and then adhere the same sized back piece of cardstock to seal the shaker.  Decorate the back piece as you wish before you stick it down - I added celebrate and small happy birthday die cut words, but you could also stamp a birthday sentiment.

Here's the ballon die - the surprise die is not included, but it would work really well in the shaker card too!  Have fun experimenting with shaker cards and thanks for stopping by, Connie

Celebrate and making a subtle background with stamps

Hello!  Diana here with a card that can be used for any celebratory occasion but feels like spring to me!  It's in the 70s today and it's FEBRUARY!  I like it.

But on to the card itself:

It's hard to see in some of the photos because the background is so subtle but that was what I wanted so that the beautiful Celebrate die cut would really pop.  I used the "Celebrate" clear stamp from the Happy Birthday collection to make my background.  I stamped it repeatedly on a white card stock and clear embossed.  Though the picture looks almost ivory there, it was the best picture that captured the clear embossing even though everything was done with Neenah white card stock.

The Celebrate and butterfly die cut were sponged with Distress oxide inks and then adhered to the front of the card.  I added a bit of adhesive rhinestone to my butterfly and voila, all done!

For a little big of extra sparkle, I went over all the die cuts with a clear glitter Wink of Stella pen.  It's so pretty and delicate in real life!

Love to create with watercolors

Hi and welcome to the Quietfire Design blog today.  Today i have a card to share using mixed media paper and Tim Holtz inks and a new Die from A Way With Words called Celebrate.  It's such a great sentiment and i hope you like how it came out.

I haven't used Mixed Media paper in a while and wasn't sure how this would work but i really love how all the back round colors mixed together on it.  Doing watercolor back rounds can be so fun and you really never know how it will come out.  I guess that is the fun of it.

 On top of the watercolors i added a chipboard die cut to make it Lacey and pretty and then die cut the "Celebrate" die and also cut a back round for it in bright pink to make the sentiment stand out and also go with the cards matting.

Here are all the colors that i used for it.  I started with the 5 Distress inks and put a little on my mat and then spritzed it with water.  Then i pressed my precut paper into the colors until i got the effect that i wanted.  I used the Versa color ink in pink to go around the finished edges of the piece and also used the Gingerbread to make it pop.  The Lindy's moon shadow i spritzed on the top and that was neat because it blends in even more color to it. 

And for my Celebrate die piece i cut it with 120lb white cardstock and glued it on the pink paper and let it dry.  Then i carefully cut around the outside of the die and little places inside of it.  I think it would be better to use an exacto knife or maybe smaller scissors that are sharper.  Something to think about when you are cutting things out on your own.  But it's a good way to frame the dies.

Celebrate

Hello!  I have a surprising number of family and friends with birthdays pretty close to Christmas.  So one must make sure there is a separate card for birthday!

I had an extra die cut of the Impression Obsession Gift Border that went perfectly with the Celebrate die cut from Quietfire Design.  I colored the gifts with Copics and brushed over with a clear glitter Wink of Stella.  The cut out a blue corner and added several layers of the Celebrate die cut.

Hello, Connie Nichol here with a scrapbook layout featuring two Quietfire A Way with Words dies manufactured by Elizabeth Craft Designs.   I am slowly scanning and scrapbooking 35 mm slides from my childhood.  My parents did not take a lot of photos when I was growing up and always used slide film, and these days, who sits down with a slide projector to look at a picture?  So, it is a bit of a process to turn these slides into digital and hard copies, but well worth it.

The Celebrate die is perfect for a birthday page title and the flourish and exclamation point from the Calligraphic Elements 1 add that extra emphasis.

The background paper is a old piece of kraft Stampin Up paper from my stash.  I dressed it up a bit by repeatedly stamping Happy Birthday from the Quietfire Happy Birthday Plain and Simple stamp set. (The musical note background is very subtle, and if you want the exact same look, you could stamp the musical notes stamp included in the Quietfire Crows stamp set  using clear embossing ink).

All the square page embellishments are Shimmer Sheetz from Elizabeth Craft Designs that have been dry embossed with two different Elizabeth Craft Designs embossing folders.  I just love the beautiful colours and shimmeriness (is that word?) that they add to the page.  I cut some of the leftover pieces into little triangles to make a banner.  Then I added a few birthday candles I had purchased from the dollar store.  Done!  Have a great day and be sure to scrapbook the pictures from your childhood.

Yvonne here with a new card using one of Quetfire Design/ECD  A Way with Words metal cutting die.
This card is really simple and quick to make.

Here's how to make the card:
The silver lines background is made using  ultrafine silver glitter.
To get the shiny stripe effect: simply glue self-adhesive tape stripes upon some white cardstock and peel of the tape.
Then poor some microfine glitter upon and gently rub the glitter over the tape stripes and voila....
Die-cut the the text Celebrate from shiny gold and from black cardstock.
Glue to gold die-cut upon the black die-cut with the black die-cut leaves a shadow.
Glue the text upon the card using 3D foam squares for an extra dimensional effect.

Used materials:

• Quietfire Design/ECD: A Way with Words metal cutting die Celebrate
• self-adhesive tape size 1/8 inch
• silver microfine glitter
• cardstock: white, black, shiny gold
• Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L: 3D foam squares.

ECD Laugh, Celebrate, Happy Birthday

Yogi here today with a Pyramid card for a guy. It's that time of year again, for me, when I need a couple guys cards... It's been eons since I last made one and I forgot how much I enjoy them BIG GRIN. They look complicated but are really easy and so much space to decorate. This one ends up being 5"w x 6"h (when closed) and folds flat for mailing.

Used a couple of the Elizabeth Craft Designs A Way With Words dies "Laugh", "Celebrate"; also available on Quietfire Design HERE and HERE. And I'm using a sentiment ("Happy Birthday") and part of a quote ("Home, Congratulations" 5pce set) stamp.

I started with an 8.5" X 11" piece of deep brown textured cardstock, scored and folded it (see cutting/folding image below). Also created a template slightly smaller of the triangle shape. Used it to cut 3 pieces from 90# hot press watercolor paper.

I created the background pieces with a wax crayon resist technique. Inked the watercolor paper triangle, direct to paper, with Distress "Salty Ocean", ran through my embossing machine using Sizzix "Blueprint" for side 1; "Gears" for side 2; & "Steampunk" for side 3. Kept the paper on my embossing folder and used a white wax crayon (any wax crayon will work depending on the look you want) and hit the high points here and there. Removed from folder and used Distress stains "Vintage Photo", misted with water, smoodged with my finger a bit, then went here and there with "Tea Dye", dried. Adhered to card sides. On side 1, I cut off one leg and adhered to the under piece so they matched up. Love the distressed look it gives.

Created eCut files for the gears (Gel A Tin "Shifting Gears") and also die cut one of Tim's "Gadget Gears". PS you can use any gear images you have either die  cut or stamped and fussy cut, or even electronic images. Just get a nice assortment in small to medium sizes. Inked the stamps with Versafine Black Onyx and embossed with a mix of embossing powders. A touch of "Kettle Copper", a touch of "Chic Camo" and a touch of "Turquoise Shimmer". All these are Emerald Creek Hot Stuff embossing powders. I did this on a piece of scrap paper leaving the excess powders on the sheet as it fell to press the other gears into, adding powder as needed. Love the verdigris/rusted kind of look.


Die cut the word "Laugh" and the word "Celebrate" from white cardstock, inked with the ocean and embossed with the Turquoise Shimmer. Adhered to card.

Stamped the "Happy Birthday" with the ocean and embossed with the turquoise on white cardstock. Die cut with Spellbinders "Grommet Tags", sponged some brown around the edges, removed from die and sponged "Old Paper" lightly all over to tone down the white. The grommet was a bit too long for my side, so cut of the ends...

Added a screw head brads in the gear centers.

Inside Flap:

Die cut the lower case letters for "Birthday" (Elizabeth Craft Designs "Alphabet 2 - Lower Case") from various decorated scraps. Adhered to card.

Stamped the quote ("Home, Congratulations" 5pce set), minus the word "Home" using the black and clear embossed.

Added an adhesive backed Velcro closure.

PYRAMID INSTRUCTIONS:
Start by finding the mid point on your long side. (it can be any size you want). For this card it's 9"w with a mid point of 4.5".

Measure from the mid point to the end (A1), Then place a tic mark on the side edge (A2) using the same measurement (mine is 4.5").

Score from those 2 marks. Repeat on other side.

Along that score line, use the same measurement as for A2, starting from the mid point (A3). Repeat on other side.

Using a quilting or right angle ruler, lightly draw a line to connect and create your bottom point. This should be a square shape.

Now draw a line to connect your outside edges to the center square and cut along that solid line.

Score down the middle

You are ready to fold and decorate.

It's A Party ~ Celebrate - Enjoy Your Day - Easel Alcohol Ink Splatter

Yogi here today with an alcohol ink splatter technique. 

They say everything old is new again and that's for sure with this technique - BIG GRIN. I did a bunch of them in 2009, some of which were published in a couple of Just Card magazine in 2010 Here & Here

I'm using two of the newest 2016 dies from Elizabeth Craft Designs "It's A Party" & "Celebrate" (also available on Quietfire Design HERE & HERE)

I'm also using a couple sentiment stamps from Quietfire Design  ("Twirl & Enjoy" 3pce set); ("Happy Birthday Plain and Simple" 7pce set) .

 
I scored and folded my mango toned  card. Cut using my circle scissor then scored and folded the front panel to create my easel. Card size is 5.25"w x 6.5"H - card closed. Cut another circle from the fuchsia cardstock and adhered to card front.

Created my alcohol splatter background on glossy paper (see pics below) using Ranger's "Butterscotch", "Pool" & "Raspberry". Dripped some of one color onto the paper and immediately blow through a straw to splatter it (you can use a spray dust tool or other aerosol tool). Dropped another color and blew and repeated till satisfied.

Stamped the 2 sizes of a firecracker type stamp (gg designs) using Versafine Black Onyx and clear embossed. Used the circle cutter to cut my circle. Adhered to a mango circle. Punched a couple notches in the circle and wrapped some blue twine around it twice. Adhered to card front. Wrapped the twine around two of my fingers several times to create the bow. Adhered using a hot glue tool, and then adhered the round jewel.

Die cut the "It's a Party" (also available on Quietfire Design HERE) from blue textured cardstock and some white cardstock. Adhered the two layers together slightly off set to add contrast. Adhered to outer edge of circle.

On the floor: Stamped the sentiment ("Twirl & Enjoy" 3pce set) using the black and clear embossed.

Stamped the firecrackers using Versamark and embossed with Emerald Creek Hot Stuff "Turquoise Shimmer" embossing powder.
Die cut the "Celebrate" (also available on Quietfire Design HERE) from fuchsia cardstock and white cardstock, adhering the two layers together slightly off set. Scored through the letters to create a fold, adhered to floor as my stopper.

Stamped the "Happy Birthday" several times around the edge of the circle using the black and clear embossed.

Let's Celebrate!!

With a brand new year starting what better way to begin the new year than making up some fun
cards with the new Celebrate die!  This is one of the best dies since you can use it for so many things and the possibilities for using different papers in your stash are endless.

I used a paper pad from Kaisercraft to make my card with a bit of an old fashioned feel.  I cut simple shapes and layered them with the die cut border in the set and then cut a bold black "Celebrate" to focus in the middle of the card.  It really pops with the colors in the papers and I didn't need much to finish it but a few sequins and ribbon. 

Here is a quick look at how beautiful the die is and it's amazing how beautiful Suzanne creates the calligraphy to make them.  Below too is the die and the link so that you can get one too.
