Create - A Card using the Six Gentle Words set

Hi there! It's Suzanne today. 
I wanted to share this easy card made with the bright bold Snap Color Vib from Simple Stories.  I spent some quality time in the Simple Stories both at CHA in January and I love their stuff! (and the fellow who helped me was such a sweetie!)  It was very Scrapbook oriented, but I love to pick and choose from what a manufacturer has to offer.  This paper stole my heart.

You see this "formula" card all over the place these days.  Basically the card is divided in half with two different colours of paper, a ribbon over the joint and some other embellishment layered on the ribbon. Very easy and quick! We can do that!
I tried to make a "Sherry Cheever fabulous messy bow", but I think I need lessons!

Instructions:

• Cut cardstock (white or off-white) for basic card to 10" x 6.5" and fold in half so card is 5" x 6.5".
• Cut red cardstock panel to 6.25" x 4.5"
• Cut polka dot paper to  6" x 2.25"
• Cut orange zigzag paper to 6" x 2.25"
• Stamp Create on the same cardstock as you used for the base card using Versafine Hanabero
• Die cut stamped image using Fancy Frame
• Attach red polka dot paper along lower edge of red panel, leaving about 1/8" red border showing
• Attach orange zigzag paper to upper edge of red panel, leaving a 1/8" red border showing.  There may be some overlap of decorative paper.
• Run a strip of Be Creative tape where the decorative paper overlaps and around the red panel to the back.
• Tie a bow with lots of loops and attach the loose ends the bow to the strip of Be Creative tape you have just laid. Wrap around to the back and tape down the ribbon ends.
• Use Pop Dots to attach the Fancy Tag die cut over the ribbon.
• Attach the red panel with all the decoration onto the card base.
• Attach three self-adhesive pearls to the bottom right corner.

Home-Congratulations Card



Hello Everyone, Terre here with another creative card featuring Quietfire Designs! I hope that everyone had a very special Mother's Day! For my card today I used the "new" Home-Congratulations Stamp set which feature 5 fabulous sentiments.

The paper choice for this card was a collection from Basic Grey, I used my favorite glue Beacon Adhesives Zip Dry...love it to secure all of those wonderful die cut pieces together.

I stamped my sentiment in the inside of my card and created a sliding band to go around the outside of my card.

My card base is created using Spellbinders LF-246 Grand Labels Eleven, the die template on the outside attached to the band is a Die D-lite Medallion. I used some Want2Scrap bling to accent the medallion as well as a Nina Bracket Border Bling for the inside. Thank you for stopping by my blog post today and remember to "Like" us on Facebook! Home-Congratulations

 Robyn here, and where ever you are, whatever you are doing, Congratulations! You deserve it!

Here are two quick cards highlighting the new Home-Congratulations set by Quietfire Design.

I shaped the card using Spellbinders Resplendent Rectangles and cut out one of the small tags to hold a gift card made from Decorative Labels One.
I left the card stock in the dies while I added Distress Lilac and China, and that held the crisp white edge.
Th quotes are stamped in Versafine Deep Lagoon and thermal embossed clear.
Just a touch of gold around the outer edges gives it a finished look.

The flourished home stamp and Congratulations created the background.

The inside

This card is simply 3 layers of Spellbinders Card Creator Matting Basics A2.

Be Not forgetful is a re -sized oldie and goody!

The background I got at a GNO at my LSS. We all brought some of our fav stamps, lots of card stock and ink and stamped away. There was also lots of food and chocolate! We had tons of fun and I'm amazed at how often I am using these pre stamped panels. Thanks girls of ASAP!

Be Not Forgetful - Faux Stitching

Yogi here using the faux stitching/quilting technique that Holly started our month off with. I expanded on it a bit...

So I raided my scrap drawer of decorated papers in green tones and punched a whole bunch of 3/4" squares using an EK Success slim punch. I then adhered them to cream toned cardstock, avoiding the middle area since it would be covered with the quote. When everything was adhered, I then did faux stitched using a Micron pen. Trimmed my background down and adhered to my cream toned card front (5"w x 7"h), then did faux stitching all around.

Stamped my quote (Home/Congratulations set) on another lighter toned cream cardstock using Versafine Black Onyx and clear embossed. Die cut with Spellbinders "Floral Ovals" using a piece of Tyvek between my die and cardstock. The die cut just pops out beautifully... PS you can use the Tyvek over again in the die or color it and use it on a card.

Sponged Distress "Shabby Shutters" and a touch of "Mustard Seed" around the edges and adhered to card with 3D foam squares.

Tied a peg bow from 1.5"w green gauze ribbon and adhered to card with Golden's Extra Heavy gel medium.

Dug into my stash and pulled out a matching green butterfly (Cottage Cutz "Filigree Trio"). Added some white half pearls to the body. and voila!!

The Perfect Pair of Shoes - Jolis DeAngelis, May Guest Designer

Jolis has been a guest designer with us before - you may remember the wonderful video she made to accompany her equally wonderful teabag folding project.  You may see that here.

This time, Jolis has a stitching project to share with us.

Supplies:

Embossing Powder, Thread, Needle, Bone Folder, Decorative punch, Ribbon

Instructions:

1. Tape stitching pattern to the front of your cardstock with removable tape and prick holes as indicated.  If you do not have a pricking tool, you can use your needle or make a tool with a cork and stick needle head into cork, so you can prick with the point, or you can remove the thread from a mechanical pencil and replace it with a needle, as shown in photo 2

2. Making your own pricking tool from a mechanical pencil:

It is helpful to hold up your pricking to the light, so you can see what has been pricked and what hasn't.  In this photo, the back shoe and outline of front shoe are done, and you can see the light shining through clearly.  Just the inner holes on the front shoe need to be pricked.  It's a great way to see if you've missed any of the pricking holes!

4. With the stitching Pattern, cut out the shape of the shoes from Eclipse tape {Ed. note.  Eclipse tape is a masking tape. As an alternative, simply cut out the shape and use removable tape to hold it in place} Carefully place over your pricked out holes.  Then, randomly stamp the big Flourish stamp on your cardstock to get a lovely overall pattern.  When you are satisfied with the background, remove the tape and begin stitching your shoes, carefully following the pattern.  (Hint:  It is easier to stitch if you lightly trace the stitching guide in pencil on the back of your cardstock.)

5. Carefully rub the back of a spoon or your bone folder or like tool over the back of your stitching when complete to close the holes as much as you can.  Although this step is optional, it does give an added touch of "finish" to the final product.

 

 

 

6. Stamp "The Perfect Pair of Shoes" with clear embossing fluid, cover with embossing powder in a coordinating color, heat set and layer on cut tags.  I also rounded all the corners on my tags and card, although this is optional.  Also, I "aged" each layer with a finger sponge and ink.  Also, you can triple punch your decorative punch or scissors from each cardstock color and layer accordingly, finishing with a lovely ribbon.  And here it is, the completed card:
