Love You To the Moon Treat Box

Oooo, such a sweet way to tell someone you love them!
Today is all about Valentine's Day projects at Elizabeth Craft Designs' blog and here is my contribution.

It's pretty in pink and fits a surprising number of treats so don't just buy one or two - yes, you may eat the excess!  And yes, I do have to go buy treats for staging my photos... :-)

Here are the supplies you'll need:

AWW Gable Box  QFD | ECD
AWW Butterfly Flourish  QFD | ECD
AWW Soar Collection  QFD | ECD
Pink Cotton Candy  ECD
Clear Double Sided Adhesive  ECD
Fitted Squares ECD

Transparency
VersaMagic Black Ink
Stamp positioner
ribbon
white cardstock
candies!

Instructions:

  1. Die cut the Gable Box from patterned paper.  Position the second smallest Fitted Square die in the middle of one of the side panels of the Gable Box and die cut a window.
  2. Cut a square from a transparency slightly larger than the window and adhere it to the inside of the box.  Assemble the Gable Box.
  3. Die cut the butterfly from the Butterfly Flourish in a coordinating colour of cardstock.
  4. Stamp the sentiment on white cardstock and cut with banner dies or tag dies.  Back with a slightly larger mat and adhere the layers together.  Trim to size, if necessary.
  5. Punch a 1/8" hole in the tag, thread ribbon through and tie with a bow to the Gable Box.
  6. Gently curve the butterfly wings up and adhere its body to the Gable Box.
  7. Fill with treats and share!  You're sending your love and if you fill with treats, you know you'll be loved right back!
Happy creating!
(and Happy Valentine's Day!)

Boo Treat Box

Hey Quietfire Fans! Halloween is only 37 days away and I'm thrilled to be back on the blog as I've been busy in my craft room creating this spooky Boo Treat Box. By combining a variety of stamps as well as dies from A Way With Words, they were the perfect for my treat box. You'll want to grab a cup of your favourite fall beverage and learn how to recreate my treat box at home.

To start, apply Emboss It Ink to the Bat stamp from the Something Wicked stamp set and stamp onto a piece of white cardstock. Reapply ink to the bat stamp and stamp three more times on the white cardstock piece. Sprinkle Gothic Black Modern Gilding Powder over top of the stamped bats. Stamp off the excess powder and emboss with a heat tool. Fussy cut five of the bats out. Ink the edges of the bats using Black Soot Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Apply Jet Black Archival Ink to the Boo sentiment from the Something Wicked stamp set and stamp onto a piece of white cardstock. Apply Jet Black Archival Ink to the Tree stamp from the Something Wicked stamp set and stamp onto the same piece of white cardstock. Fussy cut the Boo sentiment and tree out. Ink the edges of the sentiment and tree using Black Soot Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Die cut the 1 1/8" Diagonal Stitched Fishtail out of a piece of white cardstock. Apply Emboss It Ink to the Leafy Acanthus Background stamp and stamp onto the fishtail. Sprinkle Gothic Black Modern Gilding Powder overtop of the fishtail. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with a heat tool. Cut the fishtail down to 3 1/4". Distress the edges of the fishtail. Ink the edges of the fishtail using Black Soot Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Choose some Halloween patterned paper to cut the Gable Box out of.

From some coordinating Halloween paper, cut out a 1 3/4" Stitched Square. Distress the edges of the square. Ink the edges of the square using Black Soot Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

From some coordinating Halloween paper, cut out a 1 1/2" Stitched Indented Square. Distress the edges of the square. Ink the edges of the square using Black Soot Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Use adhesive to adhere your gable box together. Ink the edges of the box using Black Soot Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Adhere the stitched square to the fishtail. Foam square the indented square to the stitched square on an angle.

Adhere the tree to the right hand side of the indented square. Use foam squares to adhere the Boo sentiment to the left of the tree.

Adhere three of the bats around the tree and sentiment.

Use a clothespin to attached the Boo fishtail to the gable box. Adhere the other two bats as desired on the gable box around the Boo fishtail.

Here are a few closeup photos of the finished treat box.

Here is the finished Boo Treat Box.

Thank You Mom

Today we're celebrating Moms.
I really have to thank my Mom for everything she did for me.  I'd love to start listing the things I have to thank her for, but there are just too many.  I guess unconditional love covers it all.

This card and gift box could be given for so many reasons, not just Mother's Day.  It's also part of the group post with Elizabeth Craft Designs today. You can head over to their blog to see what other designers have done to celebrate Mother's Day.

Here is how you can make this set:

Instructions:

  1. Form a 6x6" tent-fold card base from white cardstock.
  2. Die cut the Rosebud Wreath and 4 flourished rosebud elements from white cardstock.  Die cut the Gable Box and Thank You 2 also from white cardstock.
  3. Assemble the Gable Box.
  4. Sponge green and red inks on all the elements sparingly, as shown in photos.
  5. Use Glue Dots to attach the rosebuds to the back of wreath as and to assemble the flourished rosebuds for the side of the box.  Attach the flourished rosebuds to the sides of the box.
  6. Center the wreath on the card base and adhere the wreath using the dimensional clear tape to pop it off the surface of the card.
  7. Use Glue Dots to attach Thank You.
  8. Give to Mom with your thanks. <3

Gable Box Christmas Finery

It's Suzanne here today and I’m thrilled to share this blog post with you!  I thought it would be fun to see how the Gable Box could be decorated for Christmas, so I asked around….  And here are the amazing results!  Many thanks to all the designers who came out to play.

It’s easy to get started.... and hard to stop!  Simply die cut the Gable Box and start playing...

Although the Flourished Christmas Minis were designed to fit in the Love Joy Peace Christmas Ornament, they work beautifully on the Gable Box!

Christine Pooler  has used traditional colours to create these sweetie gift boxes.  So simple to make and so joyfully received!  Use them for small gifts or chocolates.  Leave them at each place setting!  Growing up, we always had one last gift at the dinner table.  These boxes would have been perfect.  I think the tradition will include decorated Gable Boxes this year!

I mentioned the Love Joy Peace Ornament….  Well why not use the inserts from that die set on the sides of your Gable Box?  Frances Byrne has done just that with some help from Elizabeth Craft Designs Glitter!  I want to know if she's eaten those chocolates yet....

Sandy Diller was on a roll  creating luminaries!  It’s an awesome way to decorate your mantle for Christmas or as a centerpiece on your dining table. Visit her blog to read the details as she uses both the Flourished Christmas Minis and the inserts from the Love Joy Peace Christmas Ornament as well as other dies and stamps from Elizabeth Craft Designs.

Kathy Jo Wood used Joy from the Love Joy Peace Christmas Ornament to create this adorable clear ornament box. So delicate and sweet! Fill it with a special ornament or tasty treats - the contents become part of the decoration!

Connie Nichol went with the elegant and formal look, sticking to fabulous gold and white. Simply stunning!

Kelly Booth swung into the icy blues using the snowflake from Brrrrrr and the flourished heart from Calligraphic Elements 1 to create these peek-a-boo boxes filled with yummies! What a fabulous little gift!

Yogi Grunwald created a Gingerbread cottage for the Gingerbread family. Of course it looks like a little house!  Too cute!  See the details on her blog.

Wanda Hentges created a gorgeous background paper to make this lovely ornament with a hint of advent!  She’s used the Merry Christmas Small die and stamps from the Merry Christmas Collection and the Months and Numbers Collection, too!  See the details on her blog.

I wanted to use some of those wonderful muted Christmas papers by ModaScrap on one of my boxes.  This is a combination of papers from the Christmas Holiday Collection and the Xmas Vintage Collection.  I’ve also used the snowflake from Brrrrrrr and the Noel die as a little tag element.  The layered squares are cut from Fitted and Stitched Squares dies from Elizabeth Craft Designs.

And now we have absolutely adorable versions!  Diana Nguyen has created two boxes using the Flourished Christmas Minis, the words from the Love Joy Peace Christmas Ornament and Penguins!  You can see lots more details on Diana’s blog where she got on a roll!  Here are a couple more:

Katelyn Grosart loves the earthy colours – and so do I!  She has cut windows and added inserts, using Joy from the Love Joy Peace Christmas Ornament.  You can read all the scrumptious details on her blog.

Robyn Josephs created this charming little box from printed paper and festooned it in gilded word tags from the Love Joy Peace Christmas Ornament.  She has all the details on her blog.

I had a lot of fun with this box!  This is Alcohol Ink on Yupo (Lettuce, Red Pepper and Watermelon ink) with some Schminke Pale Gold TroCol sprinkled in.  Using stamps from the Merry Christmas Collection, I lifted out the colour using Alcohol Lift-Ink.  Additional embellishments were the snowflake from Brrrrrrr and the stars from Calligraphic Elements 3.

You will already have seen this recently, but I couldn’t help adding it here!  I’m always so proud of myself when I make one of Susan Tierney-Cockburn’s floral creations!  All the details on this project are here.

Remember that hint of Advent I mentioned with Wanda’s box?  Well, the last few boxes are full on Advent!  Here are some simple ones in blues that I created using the numbers from the Months and Numbers Collection with some help from layered Fitted and Stitched Stars.  I’ve added in the snowflake from the Brrrrrr die set and well as some trimmed died cuts (Brrrrrrr and the flourish from the Flourished Frame die set).

But it was Diana that really did Advent!  Look at this!!

Isn’t this spectacular? The heart in the top of the box makes it easy to add a bow or twine to allow for hanging the box as an ornament.

And here they are on a tree!  Doesn't it make you want to get cutting and decorating?

Share your creations on the Elizabeth Craft Designs Family Facebook Page or on the Quietfire Design Facebook Page.  We'd love to see them!

 Merry Christmas! Suzanne
