A Mother's Greatest Masterpiece

Today I am sharing a card that would be great for a mother-in-law or aunt, best friend's mom... it's just such a great quote.  "A Mother's Greatest Masterpiece is her children."  I knew I wanted the sentiment framed with a small bouquet of flowers to the side:

I sponged a circle frame from Divinity Designs with a combination of Raspberry Pink and Seedless Preserves Distress Ink.  The flowers and wood background are both from Tim Holtz  - extras from previous projects that were sponged and colored with Copics.  

The sentiment was stamped in black pigment ink and then embossed with clear embossing powder.  A gray card base kept the card soft and serene.

Good Morning! Kim here, on this last day of April 2020! Despite the uncertainty that has been our past month, this I know for sure; it’s tulip season and Mother’s Day is right around the corner. Today’s card share could be used for your Mom or a Thank You in general.

This card uses a simple watercolour technique that should be on everyone’s ‘to try at least once’ list. If you have never tried it, let me show you a quick step by step. I have used the Quietfire Design Tulips stamp for my focus image.

1- Use water based markers like Tombow, Stampin’ Up or Ranger’s Distress markers. I have used two colours of green, a pink and a light purple.

2- Colour your stamp, not worrying too much if your colours overlap a bit, I often add in order of light to dark.

3- Gently mist your coloured stamp with water. This reactivates the ink and will allow for the watercolour effect.

4- Carefully stamp your image onto watercolour paper, using other types of paper will produce slightly different results, not quite as soft as watercolour paper.

When you lift up the stamp, the magic is revealed!

My sentiments both come from the Quietfire Design Thanks Cuddlers set. I used the watercolour technique using just one colour on ‘for all you do’.

For a little extra fun I embossed the word stamp ‘THANKS’ using Armenian Pink Modern Gilding Powder.

Check out that colour and shine! Armenian Pink makes my knees week, it is absolutely GORGEOUS!

Thank You Mom

Today we're celebrating Moms.
I really have to thank my Mom for everything she did for me.  I'd love to start listing the things I have to thank her for, but there are just too many.  I guess unconditional love covers it all.

This card and gift box could be given for so many reasons, not just Mother's Day.  It's also part of the group post with Elizabeth Craft Designs today. You can head over to their blog to see what other designers have done to celebrate Mother's Day.

Here is how you can make this set:

Instructions:

1. Form a 6x6" tent-fold card base from white cardstock.
2. Die cut the Rosebud Wreath and 4 flourished rosebud elements from white cardstock.  Die cut the Gable Box and Thank You 2 also from white cardstock.
3. Assemble the Gable Box.
   
4. Sponge green and red inks on all the elements sparingly, as shown in photos.
   
5. Use Glue Dots to attach the rosebuds to the back of wreath as and to assemble the flourished rosebuds for the side of the box.  Attach the flourished rosebuds to the sides of the box.
6. Center the wreath on the card base and adhere the wreath using the dimensional clear tape to pop it off the surface of the card.
7. Use Glue Dots to attach Thank You.
8. Give to Mom with your thanks. <3

Happy Mother's Day!

Just in time for Mother's day

Hi everyone it's Teresa here today to share a quick Mother's Day card that you can whip up with just a few simple papers and one of my favorite stamps called "Mother's Hold their children's hands". This is such a beautiful saying and would be perfect to give to a special mom or grandmother too.

To make this card i used a watercolor paper that i got from Micheal's that had tiny gold flecks in it for my background.  I matted it with a matching pink cardstock and then a shiny ivory cardstock for my card base.  Over that i glued two strips of pink and gold ribbon to the base and then i cut out a gold filigree die from Becca Feeken.  This gave the perfect trim to go under my stamped image.

 I thought that gold embossing would really set it off so i stamped it in black Versafine ink and embossed it with gold powder.  It came out really thin and clear and really made all the gold in the ribbon and backgrounds pop.  I hope that you like it.

Mother's Day card- Mothers hold their children's hands

 Happy Friday, All!  Kathy Jo here sharing a Mother's Day card using Quietfire's heartwarming Mothers hold their children's hands sentiment:

This is a perfect stamp for Mother's Day, mom's birthday or a "thinking of you mom" moment. 

There are several layers to the card (from the bottom up): tent fold ivory card stock base, black card stock, antique pink card stock cut using Spellbinders Romantic Rose, ivory card stock cut using Spellbinders Devine Floral, ivory card stock cut using Spellbinders Floral Ovals, and ivory cut using Spellbinders Labels 39.  The sentiment was heat embossed on the ivory card stock prior to die cutting with Labels 39.  Prior to popping out the die cut from the die, I applied Distress Ink in Tattered Rose in the areas shown.  

To complete the card, a double bow using the beautiful 1.5" wide ivory crinkle ribbon and a cameo embellishment applied using Zip Dry glue.

Mom card using Mom rose stamp from Keep Calm & Call Mom set

Hello Crafty Peeps!  Kathy Jo here sharing a card for Mother's Day. The card used the Mom rose stamp from Quietfire's Keep Calm & Call Mom stamp set:

The stamped Mom is so beautiful that I wanted it framed on the card and heat embossed in gold.  The stamp looks gorgeous in gold!  

Here are the steps for the card:  

1. Form a tent fold card from ivory card stock
2. On watercolor paper stamp Mom in Versamark and heat emboss using gold embossing powder.
3. Apply Distress Marker in Peeled Paint along the inside edge of a leaf and use a water brush to give a watercolor appearance to the leaf.  Repeat with all leaves.  Apply Distress Marker in Worn Lipstick to each rose petal and repeat.  After drying apply Glossy Accent to the rose and Stickles (Lime Green) to the leaves.

4. Dry emboss watercolor paper with embossing folder.  Die cut into a frame using Spellbinders Matting Basics dies.  Apply Peeled Paint to raised edges with water brush. 

5. Cut white card stock to size and double heat emboss (along the outside edges) using Versamark and gold embossing powder.  Mount onto card base.

6. Mount Mom stamped paper onto gold edged paper.

7. Use foam dots or squares to mount frame to card.

8. High five yourself for a job well done.
