Merry Christmas - May Your Longest List - Step Back Technique

Yogi here today with a Step Back technique I discovered recently and thought I'd give it a whorl...

I'm using an A Way With Words dies  "Merry Christmas 2" 2pce set from Elizabeth Craft Designs, also available on Quietfire Design HERE

I'm also using a quote stamp from Quietfire Design ("May Your Longest List...")  

 

Scored and folded my red textured cardstock to create my easel structure. Cut another piece in white the same size as card and adhered to front.

The technique calls fro a rubber stamp and die set. Since I don't own the die for this holly branch I cut my top layer with my electronic cutter...

Stamped the holly (Sheena Douglas "Holly" set) on white cardstock using Versafine Black Onyx and clear embossed. Painted with watercolors.

Electronically cut the upper layer in the same orientation as the bottom layer. Cut a piece of fun foam and adhered to the top layer then onto the bottom layer, then onto the card front.

Doodled some faux stitching using a black Zig marker.

Die cut the "Merry Christmas" from an Oriental Menu that was mailed to me. I was about to throw it out, but said to myself, it's a nice glossy heavy weight cardstock with really nice food images... I love the way the die cuts turned out. It was a 6page menu so have lots of die cuts BIG GRIN.

Added some white dots to the berries with a gel pen ad then Glossy Accents.

On the floor: Stamped the quote using the black and clear embossed. Die cut with Elizabeth Craft Designs "Stitched Rectangles", sponged edges with Distress "Candied Apple". Adhered to some mat board and then to the floor to act as my stopper.

Die cut the holly sprig (Tim's thinlits "Holiday Greens"). Colored with Distress pads.

Tied a multi loop bow and adhered with hot glue. Added the large white pearl.

 

Sanded Embossing; May Your Longest List This Christmas

Happy Monday to You!!!  I hope you had a good weekend!!  It's Wanda here today to share an easy Christmas card.  Be sure to click on the pictures to bring them up larger.  

I'm using Quietfire's fabulous stamp - May Your Longest List This Christmas.  It is stamped onto cream card using Archival Ink Potting Soil and then die cut with a Stitched Square cutting die (Tim Holtz/Sizzix).  The edges of the square are sponged with White Fire Fresco Finish Paint (PaperArtsy).  The square is wrapped with Craft Thread (Tim Holtz/Eclectic Elements) that I've tied a couple of bells (Tim Holtz/Idea-ology) onto.

The background is super easy.  Cut Kraft Core paper (Tim Holtz/Core'dinations) to fit the Poinsettia Embossing Folder (Tim Holtz/Sizzix).  Emboss the panel.  Sand the paper to expose some of that Kraft Core and to bring out the poinsettia more.  Die cut the bottom left corner with the Poinsettia Mixed Media die (Tim Holtz/Sizzix).  Attach this panel to a cream colored panel leaving a small edge.  Splatter with White Fire paint thinned with water and then sponge White Fire around the edge. 

Onto a folded cream card, using double stick tape, attach a piece of Kraft Core Metallic Gold that you've distressed the edges on. Attach the background panel using foam tape.  Attach the quote panel using foam tape.  You now have a beautiful, elegant Christmas card!!!

A Way With Words - Merry Christmas and Season's Greetings Mini Album!

 

Welcome to A Way With Words!  Each day during this event we’re sharing projects made with the brand new Elizabeth Craft Designs word dies.  All these designs are from original hand lettering by Suzanne Cannon and can be found on the Quietfire site and on the Elizabeth Craft Designs site.  

It’s Kathy Jo here today and I am beyond excited to share my project using two of the new dies, Merry Christmas and Season's Greetings.  

 

I used both dies on a festive 5x7 Christmas album.  Full disclosure: this is the first time I have made an album.  I always thought that an album would be overwhelming or difficult but it was the opposite - it was easy to do using the new dies and stamps from Quietfire.  (I plan on making more!)

The Merry Christmas die was the focal point on the album cover. 

The first two album pages...

...have a sweet Santa scene on one page...

...and the next page has Quietfire's stamped sentiment, May your longest list this Christmas.  What a sweet sentiment!

Next we have a cute indoor stocking scene.

On the left is Santa filling the stockings with the wee ones looking on...

...on the right is Quietfire's stamped sentiment, Christmas is a piece of home.

The last two pages remind me of my hubby and I.  

The first sheet has a cover scene from The Saturday Evening Post and the heartwarming sentiment, My idea of a perfect Christmas.

The right side is an old postcard with snowflake tags:

The back of the album is a mirror of the front's layout.  The die used is the new Season's Greetings die.  Gorgeous die!

Easel - Holly & Ivy - May Your Longest List

It's Yogi here today on the Quietfire Creations blog and I wanted to use my Copic attachment for my air brush machine and the new Copic Sketch markers I got... BIG GRIN

I'm also using a couple dies from Elizabeth Craft Designs (ECD)

I'm using the newest "May Your Longest List..." from Quietfire Design as well as an eCut available on the Silhouette onLine store

 I scored and folded my red textured cardstock to create the easel (7"w x 5"h closed). Cut another red piece for the front.

As I mentioned above I used my Copic attachment for my airbrush machine spraying basic colors (YG03, G17, R08) through one of Tim's stencils (Holly Bough) on white cardstock.

Cut a piece of dark green textured cardstock as a frame with 1/2" borders. Adhered the two together and then tied a piece of red Sari ribbon/bow on the left side, then adhered it to the easel front.

eCut the "Holly & Ivy" from white cardstock. Applied Versafine Toffee all over and then embossed with Queen's Gold embossing powder. Adhered it to front.

Die cut the holly branch (ECD) from white cardstock and hit with Distress pads "Shabby Shutters" & "Pine Needles". Then applied Stickles "Holly" with my finger on the leaves. Adhered to card and added red pearls.
On the floor: Dry Embossed it partially with Sheena Douglas "Holly " embossing folder - hit the high points with a dirty green sponge lightly. Stamped the quote ("May Your longest List...") with Versafine Black Onyx and clear embossed.
Die cut the holly leaves (ECD) hit direct to paper with the shabby shutters & "Mowed Lawn". Adhered to a small piece of cardstock to create my stopper. Colored the berries with "Fired Brick" and clear embossed then adhered to leaves then to the floor.

May your Longest List this Christmas

Happy Wednesday!!!  It's Wanda here today.  Christmas in July, you see if everywhere, and it does get us thinking doesn't it.  So I've made a Christmas card for today using the new Quietfire Design stamp, May Your Longest List This Christmas.  Onto a white base I've layered a green panel that has splatters of gold paint and gold around the edge.  Next is a white panel embossed with the ECD folder #119 Swirly Curves and edged in gold.  The quote is stamped with Archival Ink vermillion onto white card, Distress Ink pine needles and peeled paint are sponged around the edge and then the edges really distressed.  This is layered to a red panel with very distressed edges.  The ornament is made with the ECD die set #762 Ornament Set 2.  The whole ornament is cut from white card.  The decorative top is cut from gold card with adhesive on the back.  After sticking them together I colored in the openings with either Distress marker (festive berry, twisted citron, shabby shutters) or Posca paint pens (gold, yellow).  Over the red areas I added Glossy Accents and clear glitter.

Christmas in July...already?

If you are following the Quietfire blog this week you have probably seen all the new

stamps that were just released.  And wow are they ever gorgeous! And... Since they are 

starting to put out things in the craft stores i thought i would use a few things that i

found and create an ornament and card with one of the new Christmas stamps.

For my card and ornament i use the gorgeous new "May your Longest List" stamp.  For both of them i stamped with Golden Glitz Delicata ink and embossed with gold so that the sentiment would really stand out. For the card i stamped on vellum and the ornament i used ivory cardstock.  And i also used a few dies on the card and ornament to give it a little more glitz and make it fancier.

The ornament I bought is paper with a glass insert so i painted it first with a couple of coats of

Americana Gloss Enamel and let it dry.  And then i brushed on Decou-page over the top and

added lots of red glitter and let that dry too.  It's messy but i like it.  And then i stamped the

image on the ivory card stock and then used the glass to trace the circle and cut it out by hand.

And since my little candy cane wouldn't fit inside i put it all together and glued it on the front.

And for my card i used solid gold and dotted papers from Micheal's.  The dies are

from Spellbinders and i used tiny clear rhinestones around the outside to make it 

sparkle with the sentiment.  And to finish a pretty red bow to really set it off.  And i 

tried a new adhesive to glue the vellum and it worked really good.  It's from Beacon

and is called 3 in 1 and it's pretty amazing for alot of hard to glue things.  

Guess it's always good to start your card ideas early... there are

some really cute ones so check back again for more fun ideas :)

New Stamps Sneak Peek

It's Suzanne here again! Whew, it's quite a week here at Quietfire!  We announced our new dies from Elizabeth Craft Design on Tuesday and now we want to share our seven new stamps!

They are so new we don't have any artwork to share with you yet! Sorry! You may order these now but orders containing them will not be shipping until I return from holidays, July 30th.  I had originally planned to do a Christmas in July event, but there has been so much going on behind the scenes that the ducks didn't line up! Nevertheless, we still have Christmas stamps to share with you.  The Design Team will be having fun with these soon, so stayed tuned for great inspiration.
