Merry Christmas Cheer Card

Hello, friends! It's Nancy here with you today!

I'm happy to be here to share another card I created, using two dies from

  the wonderful 2019 Calligraphic Christmas Release.
Both of these dies are so lovely, and the perfect addition to all our Christmas craft projects! 

Here's the card I made:

I began with a white cardstock card base,

and added a layer of the fun designer paper.

Then I chose some fun glitter cardstock in matching colours

for the die-cut words.

I positioned the sparkly words onto a white die-cut oval.

I then matted that onto a glittery green oval.

The green oval was then mounted to the center of the card front with foam tape.

Here's a close-up look at the beautiful words:

Finally, I added a white grosgrain ribbon bow.

It's such a fun and cheerful card!

Joy, Love, Peace, Merry Christmas word tree - What Is Christmas

Yogi here today with and Xmas word tree inspired by something I recently saw and that clicked in my brain... an Xmas word tree rubber stamp, so I thought I'd create one using Suzanne's word dies. BIG GRIN

I'm using an A Way With Words dies  "Flourished Circle - Joy, Love, Peace"; 4pce set, I used this love because I wanted something larger than what was in the flourished circle set... "Love" and  "Merry Christmas" from Elizabeth Craft Designs, also available on Quietfire Design HERE, HERE and HERE I'm also using one of the newest quote and design element stamp sets from Quietfire Design  ("What Is Christmas..."2pce set)

 

I scored and folded my red textured cardstock to create the easel structure. Cut another piece same size as card and adhered to front.

Dry embossed white cardstock using Sizzix "Flowers" embossing folder. Trimmed down and adhered to front.

Die cut all the words using various cardstocks, red, DoCraft gold mirror, gold decorated Kraft, and a pretty tissue box cardstock. Adhered to front. Cut a small rectangle to mimic a tree trunk, inked with Distress browns and adhered to tree. Die cut the star from the gold mirror cardstock.
 

 

On the floor: Stamped the quote onto white cardstock using Verafine Black Onyx and clear embossed. Die cut with Elizabeth Craft Designs "Stitched Rectangles" die set. Adhered to floor with 3D foam tape to act as my stopper.

Stamped the flourished stars with Versafine "Toffee" and embossed with Queen's Gold embossing powder. Fussy cut around the image. Applied Quickie glue to the stars and sprinkled with gold micro fine glitter.

Leafy Acanthus - Merry Christmas - When This Christmas - Multi Loop Bow

Yogi Here today and I thought I'd play with the Leafy Acanthus and the 3D die cut word technique... Really hard to photograph - sigh!!

I'm using an A Way With Words dies  "Merry Christmas" from Elizabeth Craft Designs, also available on Quietfire Design HERE

I'm also using a quote and design element stamps from Quietfire Design ("Leafy Acanthus"); ("When This Christmas")

Scored and folded my dark green textured cardstock to create the easel structure. Cut another piece of gold cardstock (Paper-Garden.ca)  same size as card and adhered to front.

Using my Tim's stampin platform stamped the acanthus on white cardstock using Versafine Toffee, flipped the stamp over to have a mirror image and stamped next to the first stamping overlapping the images slightly then embossed with Queen's Gold embossing powder.

 

Die cut the "Merry Christmas" making sure I kept all the little pieces intact.

Trimmed down and adhered the Acanthus background to a piece of the dark green cardstock. I put a small drop of white glue on all the negative pieces and re-glued them in place to the background.

For the positive part of the die cut, there are several ways you can create depth - adhering several, 4 or 5 layers of die cut cardstock - time consuming; or cutting minuscule pieces of 3D foam tape - very finicky; I tried using Fun Foam and Sookwang on both sides and die cutting, but the die isn't thick enough to go through all the layers SIGH!!; so I ended up using Glossy Accents - mine is old a thick... and just putting a thick layer onto the whole back, setting aside to dry and repeating to get a thicker coat... then putting a bit of white glue and adhering to Acanthus background. Adhered to card front.

 

On the floor: stamped the quote onto a piece of the gold cardstock using Versafine Black Onyx and clear embossed. Die cut with Elizabeth Craft Designs "Stitched Rectangles" die set. Adhered to floor with 3D foam tape.

Tied a multi loop Gold Sari bow (see instructions below) and adhered to floor with hot glue (click on images to enlarge)

 

Using a quilling comb or dog comb etc loop the ribbon over and under the prongs. You should be over 2 sets of prongs and under 2 sets of prongs. I do it every 4th prong (depending on size of bow loops wanted)

Work your way back going between the original prongs. Continue in this manner back and forth until you've done it 5 times, ending with the tail on the opposite side of starting. This will give you 4 loops for the bow. Add more loops if you want a fuller bow.  Cut the end.
 
Thread the ribbon through the mid point prongs and tie a tight double knot. Remove from tool and fluff up, trimming ends pleasingly.

Christmas in July - May Your Heart Be Warm, Merry Christmas

Hello!!!  I hope you've been enjoying Christmas in July this week!!!  Beautiful projects have been shared and I love Suzanne's video.  Don't miss it.

I'm sharing 3 cards, all with different looks, but all done with the same stamps (May Your Heart Be Warm and Merry Christmas Background) and die (Merry Christmas 2).  All the details are below.

This first card came about when our daughter was here for a visit and I was showing her the Distress Resist Spray.  I built layers onto a piece of cardstock starting with Resist Spray, inking, spraying again with Resist, adding more ink, and then repeating a third time.  Each layer of Resist is a different tone from light to dark since I worked from light to dark with my colors.  Once I was done and I had this beautiful background of reds I thought, "Oh, this would be great for a Christmas card and I need one this month for QF", so it became one.

I stamped the quote in the center of the paper and then die cut two Stitched Ovals (Elizabeth Craft Designs).  I added gold embossing (Queen's Gold - Ranger Ink) around the main oval and a hint of gold paint around both the inside and outside of the other oval.

On my folded green card I stamped the Merry Christmas Background down the center using Versamark Ink for that watermark look and then added white paint splatters.

Merry Christmas was die cut from Gold Metallic Cardstock.  Red Stickles dots were added to the branches and on the dot above the letter "i" of the diecut.  Everything is attached flat except the main oval and that is attached with foam tape.

This next card has a much more vintage feel.  (and I think it's my favorite of the three cards)

The quote was stamped onto white cardstock.  I used a stamping platform so I could ink the quote with black and stamp, then ink the branches with green and stamp.  After stamping I covered the paper with embossing ink and embossed it with Baked Texture Vintage Beeswax (Emerald Creek - Seth Apter).  I added a second layer of embossing ink and powder and heated it again.  Isn't it gorgeous!!!  

My background was created on Transparent Yupo Paper.  I used alcohol inks and alcohol blending solution on felt to dab onto the Yupo adding layers until I liked it.

Once it was dry I stamped the Merry Christmas Background with the Alcohol Lift-Ink.  This pulls alcohol ink off the yupo paper.  (You can only remove alcohol ink with the Lift-Off ink if you have the alcohol ink on a non-porous surface such as Yupo).  So now you have alcohol ink mixed with the lift-ink on your stamp.  You can then stamp onto a porous surface, such as regular cardstock, to transfer the ink.  I did this twice to get all the way down the Yupo paper.  On my regular cardstock I left an open area when I stamped the second time.  I used this card of stamped transferred ink to create another Christmas card that I shared early this week on my blog HERE.

The Lift-Off ink on the Yupo will still be wet.  Now you dab over that ink with a paper towel until most of the ink is removed and then you can lightly rub to get the last of it making what you stamped really pop.  If you rub too soon, you will smear your stamping instead of it staying crisp and clear.

Merry Christmas was die cut from white cardstock and my folded base card is white cardstock.  I gave the die cuts and edges of the base card a creamy, shimmery look by brushing it with Nuvo Mousse (Mother of Pearl).  A perfect look for a vintage card.

Again I used Red Stickles for berries on the branches and over the letter "i".

My final card has a much brighter look.

I stamped and embossed the Merry Christmas Background in clear onto white cardstock.

Next I sprayed over the cardstock with Distress Spray Stains, blotted it, dried it, and, once I knew what size I needed, trimmed it down.

I attached double sided tape to the top of silver cardstock, die cut Merry Christmas, removed the liner from the top and added Silver Silk Microfine Glitter.  After dumping off the excess glitter and putting it back into the jar, you then use the pad of your finger to rub over the glitter to burnish it down well and really bring out the shine.  It's fun to watch it sparkle more as you rub over it!!

I stamped the quote onto white cardstock, embossed it with Carnation Red embossing Powder and die cut it with a Stitched Oval die.

I added Silver Glitter Paste around the edges of the oval.  If you don't have glitter paste but you do have glitter, you can make your own paste by mixing glitter with gloss gel medium.  Silver Stickles were used over the berries on the branches. 

White cardstock was folded for the base of the card.  

There ya go.  Three completely different looks using the same stamps and dies.  Isn't it great!!!  Which one is your favorite?

Glittery Merry Christmas card

Hello Crafty Friends!

Oh- we are so close to the holidays now.  This season has flown by!  Now I am using the cards created thus far...and quickly making last minute cards, too.  One of the many reasons why I love Suzanne's dies is the fact that the dies help to make a gorgeous card in a flash.  Today I am sharing one of those quick cards.

The card's focal point is the beautiful Merry Christmas die.  The die was used to cut some red glitter paper.  Isn't it stunning?

The instructions are super easy:

1. Create a top fold 5 x 5 card using white card stock.
2. Cut patterned paper smaller than 5 x 5 and mount to card base.
3. Adhere doily.
4. Adhere Merry Christmas to doily using liquid adhesive.
5. Adhere embellishment as shown.  (I used holly but a bow looks just as great!)

Merry Christmas - I'm Telling You - Card In A Box

Yogi here today. The last time I made this type card was in 2014... since I'm seeing a lot of these cards pop up again... I thought I'd make one again and let you know how to make one yourself...

I'm using an A Way With Words dies "Merry Christmas" from Elizabeth Craft Designs, also available on Quietfire Design HERE

I'm using Quietfire Santa/Reindeer sleigh  file available on the Silhouette OnLine store Click on pic to purchase.

I'm also using quotes and the newest background stamps from Quietfire Design. ("I'm Telling You..." 2pce set); ("Merry Christmas Background")

See below for the cutting and construction details.

Before the box was glued together to make the box card, I decorated the inside by stamping the cloud background (Impression Obsession Cover A Card "Clouds") inking with various Distress blues.
Electronically cut the Santa sleigh & reindeers from white cardstock and colored while still on my mat using Distress dabbers "Black Soot". I cut off the first 2 reindeer and adhered them to the back of the other 3 reindeer. That way I was able to cut my image larger than would fit on my card... Adhered to clouds.

Die cut the evergreen trees a couple times (Tim's On The Edge "Tree Line") then colored with various Distress green's. Used the edge of a piece of cardstock to create shadow on the hill, sponging with "Stormy Sky".
Stamped the house (AlteNew "Winter Cottage") using Versafne Black Onyx and clear embossed. Fussy cut around the top edge.
 
Trimmed down the 3 layers as suggested below adding the 1/4" tabs to adhere to the box sides.

Stamped the quote onto a piece of white cardstock using the black, clear embossed and trimmed close to stamping. Sponged some blue around the edges and adhered to the house insert strip.

On the side flaps: Stamped the "Merry Christmas Background" onto white cardstock using the black and clear embossed. Sponged some of the blue lightly all over and trimmed down and adhered to fit edge to edge on both flaps.

On the large flap I adhered a piece of heavy texture white heavy paper (Coral Reef paper) edge to edge.

Die cut the Merry Christmas from a light blue cardstock, then inked it with Versamark and embossed with Emerald Creek "Turquoise Shimmer" embossing powder. Adhered to flap.

 I cut and adhered some decorative paper to the front. Left the back as white cardstock. PS this was a scrap piece of decorative paper from a previous card I had made... It just seemed to fit perfectly...

Stamped the sentiment with the black and clear embossed. 

Please note, the back panel does not have a score line down the middle, only the front piece does... If you've accidentally scored it, then cut another piece of cardstock the same size as back and adhere so that it remains as a stiff upright panel.

When ready to assemble, apply glue to the back panel tab and adhere to the inside of the front panel un-tabed side.

After trimming and decorating the strips, adhere the right hand tab to the partially assembled side, aligning it with the center fold. Continue with other two strips, leaving even spaces between the strips.

Apply double sided adhesive to the left hand tabs,  make sure your strips are aligned properly, then fold over the front panel and press down to adhere.

Adhere the card front panel tab to create the box. Voila, you're done.

Another option is to totally create and adhere the box and strips to create the card, then just adhere die cuts to the edge of each strip. Easy Peasy.
