Creating fun ornaments

Hi Everyone it's Teresa here today to share with you a quick and easy ornament i made with the new Noel die cut die.  There is so many fun things starting to go out for the holidays and last time i went out browsing i found these really cute wooden ornaments in a pack of 6 so i thought i would get out a few dies and see what i could come up with.

The ornament is made of wood so i traced the size on a piece of paper and then set to work to cut strips of pretty paper to cover it.  When i got it all done i glued it to the back of the ornament and then inked it with a pretty brown chalk ink.  Then i found this Santa in the papers so i fussy cut that and a bit of the greenery and glued all that down.  Then I cut the Noel die 2x out of matching white paper and glued that on the ornament as shown. It took a bit of time but it's fun to make custom ornaments for your tree and even to give as gifts to family throughout the years.

There are lots of beautiful dies you can use here.....  you can never start too early!!

Happy Tuesday everyone !!

Remember life's little things

Hi everyone it's Teresa here on this gorgeous Thursday in California with a post to remind you to always remember the little things in life.  Last week the angels came for my mom and when something tragic happens like that happens in your life you start remembering so many amazing times with that person during their lifetime.  It's a good thing to do and making up pretty things to cherish all those memories to remember your family and friends is really special and an even better thing to share with all of them as a gift in some way.  This would be a cute cover for a mini book too or maybe even a photo disc to give with pictures that you found tucked away like we did.

So this card is really simple using just die cut squares created with some papers and things sent to me from a fellow team member Yvonne. We both love to watercolor and little bears so i thought i would make up this card to put in some pictures i found to remember my mom.  The new "Remember die" was perfect to cut out and put at the bottom of the wood die cut she sent me.  I inked the "Remember" die a little on the top and the bottom to make it stand out and let it sit out on the card to make it more 3D.  Just something a little different.  And... The bear I colored on watercolor paper with Copic markers and colored it in subtle shades of brown and pink to match with the Maja Design papers.  It was quick and easy and i love the colors and my mom would have loved it too.

Here is a closeup of the die and the chalking.  You could even use a couple of different colors together and blend them with a sponge to make a pretty watercolor effect on it.  And just to make it more fun with the new release of dies I have 2 dies i would love to give away to 2 lucky readers. Just leave us a comment with your favorite dies you love in this new release and we will pick 2 of you to get the new Remember die or the new Memories die.  Both are great for cards and books and would be so handy to have in your stash to use.

Thanks so much for dropping by and you have until Sunday night at midnight PST Sept 11th to get in on the drawing! Winners will be announced Monday on the Blog....

Have a wonderful day...

Merci to you...

Hi everyone, it's Teresa here and thanks so much for stopping over today to see what's new on the Quietfire blog.  I have an easy card to share today that i did with the "Merci" die and the new "I don't tell you often enough stamp set".  There are so many fun ways that you can mix and match the Way with Word dies and stamps these days and these two went perfect together for this card for my friend.

For my card i used the "Merci Die" and cut it out and layered it with brown printed paper. Then I  paired it with a fancy die that i had in my stash to make a medallion for it to lay on.  I used dark brown paper to shawdow the die and it made it pop out really nice even though it's more vintage looking.  The flowers and papers are from Prima Marketing and it's called Tales of you and Me.

Here is the stamp set that i used for the inside.  I cut a small piece of ivory paper and then stamped the "I am thankful for all you do" in the dark cocoa that i used for the front of the card.  These are such great multi purpose stamps and you can use them for so many cards and things.

And here is a quick closeup of the die and the shadow.  I love to do this because it makes the die thicker and more bolder and it really stands out more.

Thanks again for stopping by and have a wonderful day!!

Thank you for all that you do....

Hi Everyone it's Teresa here today with a share using one of the beautiful new Way with Words Thank you dies and the Thanks Cuddlers mounted rubber stamp set.

I wanted to keep the card really simple so I used a really simple dotted pattern paper to make the base of my card and layered it with 3D foam squares to make it stand out more with the white matting on the top piece.  We needed to match a die with a saying so i found this wonderful set of Thank you sayings and it fit perfectly in the bottom corner.  The ink didn't take on the embossed dots like i wanted it to but i think it looks really nice and works really good with the die cut words.

To finish my card I added a red ribbon that i cut in half to make it double and then added a pretty bling button on the top.  It was super easy and took no time at all to do.  You gotta love that :)

Here is a quick peek at the stamp set and all the other sayings that come in the set.  It's really nice. There are so many choices to chose from.

And here is the die set and you can order both on the website.  Be sure and check out all
the other Way with Words die here and have fun crafting and making pretty things with them!

Love you always and forever

It's Teresa here today on this beautiful Monday in California.. posting a pretty and whimsical card that i did combining 2 of the new Way with Word die sets.  The dies worked perfect together and i was really happy with how quick and easy that it went together.

The first die i used is called "Love" and it has beautiful serifs and cut the glittery red cardstock that i used perfectly.  Then i used the "Thank you" die set and only cut the you from it.  The papers i used are from Doodlebug and they gave it a whimsical and bright contrast with the glitter red papers and bright pink bow that i put on it.

The card backround is pretty basic with just using a 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 inch white card base and then adding layers of the glittery paper to make the words pop and some machine stitching around the outside.  You can get this effect by punching it with a poker tool of somekind or just stitching around the card with no thread in the machine.  It's so easy and you can adjust the holes to any length that you think looks good.

You can buy both of these dies in the online store here with lots more that you can have fun with and create amazing cards and projects with!!  Have a nice and very crafty day and don't forget to check back for more Quietfire inspiration this week!

Believe....Blessed is the season...

Hello everyone,
Yvonne here today with a Christmas card.
Here in Holland almost all the leaves have fallen and the weather is starting to get colder.
Realizing it´ll be Christmas before we know, it´s time to make some Christmas cards :-)

Personally, I absolutely love Christmas...it's that time of the year we all seem to be just that bit more friendly and forgiving to eachother....like there is that special love is in the air and all around.
And that is exactly what my card is about....just by combining  Quietfire Designs gorgeous Believe die-template with a matching Quietfire Design stamp...

Used materials:

I hope you like the card.
Thanks so much for stopping by
and wishing you a great day,

Hugs from Holland,
Yvonne

And A Little More Food for Thought! (Dessert!) Guest Designer - Judi Kauffman

Guest Designer Judi Kauffman took the holiday cards you've already seen during the roll-out week for A Way With Words Collection dies and added Silver Glitter Dots Peel-offs to them for some extra sparkle. (The sheets have hundreds of Dots in four sizes. She used the largest size in the corners of the ivory cardstock rectangles and the smallest size for the berries on the dark green branches.)

It adds only a couple of minutes per card and is such a nice touch, don't you think?

A Way with Words- With Sympathy

Welcome to a Way with Words.  Each day during the event we're sharing projects made with the brand new Elizabeth Craft Designs word dies.  All these designs are from original hand lettering by Suzanne Cannon and can be found on the Quietfire site and on the Elizabeth Craft Designs site.

My die today is called "With Sympathy" and i really love all the delicate loops and curves on the sentiment.  I decided to use some of the "Shimmer sheets" in both the blues and the reds to make it look like the sky and clouds and the red of a loving heart.  The cloud i just cut freehand around the sentiment so you don't even need to have a die.  Just draw your own.  And i finished it with a pretty matching black satin bow and a rhinestone.  It was really easy and the dies cut like butter, you will love them.

We have lots of inspiration for you each and every day using the new dies so be sure and check out our Facebook page and the Elizabeth Craft Designs for inspiration from their designers too.  Have a fun and crafty day and thanks so much for stopping by.

Color Burst Flowers - Hello - Those Who Find - BD Wishes

Yogi Here today using Color Burst powders by Ken Oliver that I recently acquired - very nice. They work as well as the Brusho's, but are easier to use since they already come in a nozzle type dispenser... There are only 6 colors at this time, so it's pretty hard to make a mistake with them. I like that Brusho's have 24 colors... So between the two products, I have lots to play with...

I'm using the newest "Hello" die on the outside; a quote stamp (Always Be My Friend... 3pce set) and sentiment stamp  (10 tiny tag sentiments 10pce set) on the inside from Quietfire Design as well as an eCut (Happy Birthday) from Suzanne available on the Silhouette onLine store.

Side folded my white cardstock (5"w x 7"h). Embossed using Ecstasy crafts "Leaves" embossing folder.

I sprinkled the ColorCraft powders onto misted Canson Biggie watercolor paper (smoother - backside), then misted some more. Dried and stamped the flowers (AlteNew ""Floral Motifs") using Versafine Toffee" and embossing with Queen's Gold embossing powder. Fussy cut around the flowers to create the border.

Used a slot punch to thread my salmon colored narrow ribbon through.

Adhered the border to the card front, adhering the ribbon tails to the inside.

Die cut the "Hello" from a scrap section of the background. Then cut 3 more layers, coloring them with a blue Prisma colored marker, as well as the edges of the first die cut. Adhered all 4 layers together and then onto card front.

Added the large mauve rhinestones to the flower centers.

On the inside: hit the high points of the embossed background using Distress "Iced Spruce" and then with "Peeled Paint". Adhered a piece of scrap paper towel (from my Gelli print session at Artsy market...) using a glue stick.

eCut the "birthday" at 5"w from white cardstock. Colored with a black watercolor marker, then applied Versamark and embossed with "Oak Leak Olive" embossing powder - twice - to get a nice thick coat.

Masked and stamped the "wishes" (10 tiny tag sentiments ) onto white cardstock with the black, punched it out with Whale of a Punch "Butterfly", sponged using dirty sponges (raspberry & yellow), adhered to birthday word.

eCut a bunch of flowers (AlteNew Floral Motifs") from translucent vellum, stamped with versamark and embossed with Queen's Gold. Adhered to card with Glossy Accents. (if you don't have an electronic cutter, just fussy cut around the stamping...)

Stamped the quote (Always Be My Friend... 3pce set) with the Black, clear embossed. Added faux stitch lines using a Prisma Colored Marker in an olive tone.

Thanks - Judi Kauffman Guest Designer

Designer Judi Kauffman is back as today's guest designer. Her project is a thank you card made with our  new "Thanks" die.

http://www.quietfiredesign.ca/product.php?productid=3594&cat=736&page=1
Quietfire Design's new Thanks die
She cut the word from alcohol ink-altered ShimmerSheetz, backed with Elizabeth Craft Designs' transparent double sided adhesive sheet before cutting.*

She sewed on the star beads with pink thread, but you could use Beacon GemTac glue if you don't feel like stitching.

The leaves are gold outline peel-offs on the same ink-altered Shimmer Sheetz (fussy cut along the outline), accented with Gold/Silver Glitter Dots peel-offs.

Judi used a soft pink cardstock rectangle atop an Anna Griffin patterned paper left side folded card base and foam tape to pop up the leaves.

(*Reminder: You MUST use a metal adaptor plate when die cutting Shimmer Sheetz - review the YouTube video if this is new to you.  Also when cutting Shimmer Sheetz backed with double-sided tape, it's necessary to use the Elizabeth Craft Design's transparent double-sided tape which is thinner than other brands.)

A big thanks to Judi for sharing this beautiful card and technique with us!

Introducing the New Quietfire Metal Dies

It's so exciting to finally have these.  I've been planning this for a long time and it's amazing to finally see it happen!

For all those who'd rather have a real die than a cutting file, we now have the start of the  Quietfire Metal Dies line.  We hope you love them as much as we do!  I just can't stop playing with them.  Please note that Believe and Hello are both available as digital cutting files.  The links are in the product descriptions on our website.

These dies are wafer thin steel dies, made in the USA, and can be used in most table top die cutting machines.
Sandwich Recipes:
For the Grand Calibur: use the same sandwich as for Spellbinders dies.
For the Cheery Lynn Crossover: use pressure setting at approximately #4.

Only a few members of the Quietfire Design Team have received the new dies in the mail, but we wanted to share what we've done so far!

Here is Yogi's first creation - you can see the rest of this fabulous card, including the inside on her blog here.

Kathy Jo has been burning the midnight oil with the new Quietfire dies! She'll be posting these designs on her blog over the next few days.
She started with a guy card...

Then she moved on to practical and pretty....  (wait till she gets this on her blog, then you can see the inside!)

then Kathy Jo moved on to just plain pretty (and golden!).

I've been having so much fun!  Here is what I've done so far.  You can see and read more details (like which patterned paper I used, as well as complete instructions) on my blog here.
Flying pigs. I know you believe.

The direct link to blog post with these cards is here.

I had a little inlay fun!  Normally a calligrapher would fill in all these counterspaces with paint, but now you can do it with paper! You can read more here.

And here is Believe combined with a Quietfire rubber stamp. See the details here.

I hope you've enjoyed our little introduction. Please visit the designers' blogs to see lots more!  The design team will be posting even more creations over the next few days.  I'll share their post on the Quietfire Facebook Page and I've started a new Pinterest Board for the dies as well.
Happy creating!
Thanks for visiting!  Suzanne
