A Card Featuring the Even A Little Star Stamp

Hello, everyone! It's Nancy here with you today!

Today I'm sharing a fun card that features a beautiful stamp,
  some gorgeous gilding powder, and a fabulous digital cut file! 

Here's the card I made:

Before I began, I knew that I wanted to use the Acanthus Teal Gilding Powder,

along with the Even a Small Star Stamp.

As I was trying to decide just what to make,

I popped over to check out Suzanne's section in the Silhouette Design Store.

I entered "star" in the search menu and many options popped up.

This is the one that caught my eye the most!

It's called: Knitted Star.

Isn't that a fun design? 

It could be made in so many wonderful colour combinations!

Since I was using the teal gilding powder, I opted for a teal and yellow combination.

The file includes one more smaller star mat.

I chose not to use it, as the stamp fit perfectly in the bigger space.

I cut all the layers out first.

Using embossing ink, I stamped the sentiment onto the star.

I sprinkled it with the gilding powder and hit it with my heat tool. 

In my photos the embossing looks greener than the paper

but in real life it's an excellent match!

I adhered all the layers together, and mounted them on a white card base.

Finally, I added a small ribbon bow, and a few matching sequins!

I think it's a fabulous design!

The star on the knitted background is just so cozy and fun!

Kindness is Like Snow

Hello, everyone! It's Nancy here with a new card to share with you. 

This card features one of the great New Release Stamp Sets. 

It's called "Kindness is Like Snow", and it's such a beautiful quote!

Here's my card:

I've combined the beautiful quote with the Noel Snowflake Card Digital Cut File.

The cut file creates the lovely snowflake background, and provides the layered ovals.

I added some white cardstock behind the card front, to show off the cut snowflakes.

I stamped the quote onto the teal cardstock, using white ink.

After layering the teal oval onto the white oval, I used foam tape to adhere it to the card front.

Finally, I added a pretty shimmery ribbon bow!

Lovey Stuff Digital Cutting Files!

Hi artlets!  It's just Suzanne squeezing in between the talent to share the Lovey Dovey collection of digital cutting files.  I'm nearing a milestone of 400 designs on the Silhouette Online Store. It sort of crept up on me!

I've collected up what I think are most of the Love and Valentine's Day designs.  In the right colours, some of them might even do for a wedding.

I also wanted to share an extra photo of the Heart Treat Purse.  (Silhouette initially rejected the design because I added the photo of the inside to the thumbnail....)  So now you know how it opens and where the extra pieces go! Here is the purse

And here is the inside. I used a little magnet closure - it works really well!

 Here are a whole bunch of cutting files, some just went up yesterday afternoon, but they're all available. AND they're on sale right now. (But I don't know for how long.)

Color Burst Flowers - Hello - Those Who Find - BD Wishes

Yogi Here today using Color Burst powders by Ken Oliver that I recently acquired - very nice. They work as well as the Brusho's, but are easier to use since they already come in a nozzle type dispenser... There are only 6 colors at this time, so it's pretty hard to make a mistake with them. I like that Brusho's have 24 colors... So between the two products, I have lots to play with...


I'm using the newest "Hello" die on the outside; a quote stamp (Always Be My Friend... 3pce set) and sentiment stamp  (10 tiny tag sentiments 10pce set) on the inside from Quietfire Design as well as an eCut (Happy Birthday) from Suzanne available on the Silhouette onLine store.

Side folded my white cardstock (5"w x 7"h). Embossed using Ecstasy crafts "Leaves" embossing folder.

I sprinkled the ColorCraft powders onto misted Canson Biggie watercolor paper (smoother - backside), then misted some more. Dried and stamped the flowers (AlteNew ""Floral Motifs") using Versafine Toffee" and embossing with Queen's Gold embossing powder. Fussy cut around the flowers to create the border.

Used a slot punch to thread my salmon colored narrow ribbon through.

Adhered the border to the card front, adhering the ribbon tails to the inside.

Die cut the "Hello" from a scrap section of the background. Then cut 3 more layers, coloring them with a blue Prisma colored marker, as well as the edges of the first die cut. Adhered all 4 layers together and then onto card front.

Added the large mauve rhinestones to the flower centers.

On the inside: hit the high points of the embossed background using Distress "Iced Spruce" and then with "Peeled Paint". Adhered a piece of scrap paper towel (from my Gelli print session at Artsy market...) using a glue stick.

eCut the "birthday" at 5"w from white cardstock. Colored with a black watercolor marker, then applied Versamark and embossed with "Oak Leak Olive" embossing powder - twice - to get a nice thick coat.

Masked and stamped the "wishes" (10 tiny tag sentiments ) onto white cardstock with the black, punched it out with Whale of a Punch "Butterfly", sponged using dirty sponges (raspberry & yellow), adhered to birthday word.

eCut a bunch of flowers (AlteNew Floral Motifs") from translucent vellum, stamped with versamark and embossed with Queen's Gold. Adhered to card with Glossy Accents. (if you don't have an electronic cutter, just fussy cut around the stamping...)

Stamped the quote (Always Be My Friend... 3pce set) with the Black, clear embossed. Added faux stitch lines using a Prisma Colored Marker in an olive tone.

Hello!  Diana here today to share you a card I made with one of the new digital cutting files from Quietfire Design.  I haven't used my Cricut in a long time but when I saw this Peace Digital Cutting File, I had to literally dust it off.  Totally worth it!  It's so elegant and the card came together very quickly. I cut the Peace twice, once in red card stock and another in gold metallic card stock.  I also used the holly from Feather and Holly Posey Card digital files.  After adding glossy accents to the holly leaves and setting it aside to dry, I used Spellbinders Resplendent Rectangles to frame my cuts.  To make the layers stand out more, I popped it up with foam tape and added a gold backing to the smaller layer.

When I adhered the two Peace layers, I offset it a little bit so the gold would give it a shadow effect.  I also added some pearls in the corner - gotta have a little bit of bling for Christmas.  :)

Using the Quietfire Believe Cutting File in a Beautiful Way

I had an email the other day from Paula Hecker, who had purchase the Quietfire Believe cutting file from the Silhouette online store.  She wanted to know if I had done the word Peace similar to Believe and shared what she had done with Believe.  I thought this was so beautiful, I had to share it with you.  It looks like Paula is all ready for Christmas!

Paula bought 5x7" shadow boxes from Michaels, lined the back with scrapbook paper.  She cut Believe from red vinyl (which she cut in reverse image) and placed it on the inside of the glass so the outside could be cleaned easily.  She added a handful of fake snow inside the box and assembled the frame.  In her words:

SUPER SIMPLE.  Like, ridiculously simple but major impact.  I love how it came out!

 

Paula goes onto to say how addictive making these is!  I think she's onto something very cool here.

QUIETFIRE & WALNUT HOLLOW- THANKFUL

To get to this point, I did the following...after a light sanding, I painted watered down acrylic paint, purposely leaving a streaked, distressed look. I applied darker and lighter thinned paints to harlequin and flourish stamps, and placed them randomly on the painted wood cover. More sanding along the edges, and here and there completed the distressing. I glued the calligraphic frame to the two pieces, then cut between them, then attached the hinge hardware. The whole album was 'painted' with a coat of white glue mixed 1/1 with water, to seal everything.

All the leaves and flowers were sponged with Distress Inks. 

Some pieces were stamped lightly, others were embossed.

The cut words were clear embossed for shine.

The hardware was dabbed with alcohol ink.

Watered down distress ink was then splattered onto the cover.

 I still have the option of gluing the sunflowers flat, if using the album is too hard on them.

I love this album so much, and really enjoyed working with the quality wood and all the great Quietfire Design products.

IF I HAD A STAR- CARD & HAMMERED METAL TECHNIQUE

Hi Everyone! Holly here with an old technique, and a bonus 'newer' technique. 

The card above shows the 'hammered metal' applied to the fabulous FRAME CUT FILE.

I began by cutting out the frame using black card stock. Silver craft paint was sponged on, and while the card stock was still damp from the paint, the handle end of a paint brush was pressed into it. I placed the frame on a paper pad first, and that gave it a bit of give when pressing in the paint brush handle. This leaves dents in the card stock- the more the better. 

Once dry, I attached it to the card layer with the DISTRESS INK sponged background, and IF I HAD A STAR stamped in jet black ARCHIVAL INK. This was attached to the card base, more dots of silver paint were added, and a few sequins were glued on, completing the card.

This card uses washi tape to create a print design behind the beautiful BUTTERFLY.

First, I cut this......

Then, I applied strips of WASHI TAPE.

The washi tape is applied to a butterfly shape, slightly larger than the butterfly and the butterfly cut-out. Once placed behind the embossed cut-out, it will extend past the edges and completely fill the space.

The center (body) of the butterfly was glued down and it's wings folded up a little.

Believe in Yourself from IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE IN MIRACLES was stamped onto vellum with jet black archival ink and clear embossed.

These cards are so simple, and the beautiful stamps and cut files make them a pleasure to create.

Simple Creations with Quietfire Designs Digital Files

HI!!!  It's Wendy Jordan and today I am sharing a simple gift creation using Quietfire Designs digital files, a Silhouette Cameo digital cutting machine and software and vinyl.

This entire post was RIDDLED with technical difficulties on the user's  (ME) part.  The video below is a screen video of the file being  created in the Silhouette Cameo Designer Edition software.  I had plans of actually videoing the creation of the gift, BUT my wonderful son borrowed my video camera over the weekend and left it with a dead battery.  Gotta love sharing!!!

Anyhoooo…onto the important stuff…..

The file has been created and is being cut by a Silhouette Cameo.  I used red Oracal 651 vinyl.  I am applying the design to the glass of a 5 x 7 photo frame and I don't anticipate any harsh condition for the gift, but none the less, 651 will do the trick.

Here is the design after being weeded and transfer paper has been applied.  

I used R Choice Clear Transfer Sheets.  They are the perfect amount of tack for any project.

The design has been applied the glass and has been burnished.  The blue tool to the right is a burnishing tool.  I rub it over the design to adhere the adhesive from the vinyl to the glass.

See how easily the transfer paper comes off of the design and the glass.  Piece of cake.

Remember in the video how I flipped the design horizontally for cutting?  Now that the design is right way, can you see that you can't feel the vinyl on the outside of the glass?  

The finished gift!!  

I placed a white piece of card stock on the back of the design, but one of my favorite things to do is create a "floating" frame.  It is so simple.  Hot glue the glass to the frame from the inside and leave the back of the frame off.  You can then hang your frame not the wall and it looks as if the frame and design are floating.
