Summer Love with markers on Photo Paper

How is your summer going?  I can't believe it is August already.  Kids start school soon and but before that, we get to go shopping for school supplies.  I LOVE school supplies and office supplies.  I do hate having to find just the right colored folders though.  My favorite purchases are markers... so I thought I'd show you a card I did using a new technique I saw on the Tombow facebook page.  It is so incredibly easy and the end result is amazing.  You can see it in the background of this Summer love card here as well as in the words themselves.

I simply scribbled different Tombow markers on a sheet of acetate, spritzed some water over it and pressed the photo paper to it.  Voila - all done!  (I used the blue, green, and purple from the Primary Palette set.)

This is the final result - it dried very quickly.  And the colors just seem to glow off the paper.

I trimmed the paper to fit an A2 card base and added some seashell outline stickers from Elizabeth Craft Designs filled in with ECD silk microfine glitter.  I added a light gray background using a very old Spellbinders die set - Deckled Rectangles so that the words Summer love would not get lost into the background. The words Summer and love were also made from another sheet using the same technique.

A very fun and easy card to make, especially the background.  It's a great way to make your own designer paper with whatever colors you need.

The Earth Laughs - Summer Memories Scrapbook Layout

Hello, Connie Nichol here today with a flowery layout featuring The Earth Laughs in Flowers and Rose stamp set from Quietfire Design.  In the dark days of November, I like to remember the beautiful colours and fragrances of the summer garden.

This is the stamp set I used.  I had so much fun with the rose - I stamped it with embossing ink, embossed with black embossing powder, and then coloured with Chameleon alcohol ink markers.  The embossing helps me stay in the lines when I colour.   I cut out a handful of these roses and arranged them to highlight the scrapbook page.  They are so pretty and you can customize the colour to whatever you want.

The Earth Laughs Rose, Set of 2 - Mounted

For the title, I used two of the Way with Words dies and a scrap of green cardstock.  So easy!

4 Seasons, Set of 4 - Metal Cutting Dies
Memories - Metal Cutting Die

Supplies Used:  FabScraps patterned paper, Quietfire Design stamps, Clearsnap embossing ink and powder, Brother sewing machine, Chameleon pens

Keeping it Straight - In Summer!

Ever have trouble getting your A Way With Words diecuts straight? It's Suzanne here with a little weekend project sharing a technique to help you out!  It could save you a lot of aggravation!

Here is a little video so you can see it in action.  The tutorial is only a minute long because that's the longest that Instagram will allow!  The video below is full width and can be viewed here or on YouTube.

I love using Glue Dots.  It gives me the flexibility to remove the diecut if I don't quite get it right!
The soapstone pencil which was not necessary for this project can be found on the Quietfire site HERE.
Have any questions?  Just ask in the comments!

Here is the supply list for making this card (the links go to the Quietfire site):

In Summer Quietfire rubber stamp
Elizabeth Craft Designs Stitched Rectangles
Kaisercraft Fairy Dust 6 1/2" Paper Pad
Core'dinations Valiant Violet Cardstock

Instructions:
  1. Form a 6.5 x 5 inch tent-fold card base from purple cardstock.  Die cut Summer from the same cardstock.
  2. Cut three nesting panels of patterned paper from the Stitched Rectangles as shown.
  3. Stamp the sentiment at the bottom of the smallest panel.
  4. Follow the demonstration in the video for placing your Summer diecut using Glue Dots to adhere the diecut.
  5. Assemble the card using foam tape as shown.
Thanks for dropping by!  Happy creating, Suzanne
