There is always something to be thankful for

I can't let Thanksgiving pass without using this particular stamp from the Quietfire Design Give Thanks set.  It's one of my favorites and perfect for any time of the year really, but an especially appropriate now.

I recently received the Cherry Blosson Branch and Symbol Background dies by Elizabeth Craft Design so I had to work them into the card somehow.  After die cutting the Cherry Blossom die out of white card stock and the Symbol out of black card stock, I colored the flowers and leaves with Copic Markers.  I used a colored pencil to add some lines to the flowers for details.  The Symbol dies was trimmed so that the circle became 4 corner pieces as shown above.

I stamped the "There is always something to be thankful for" with black pigment ink and then added the Modern Gilding powder Gothic black on top of it.  Using black ink and black powder makes it a little harder to see where you've melted the powder but I love how crisp and defined it makes the image.

I then added some Nuvo drops to the center of the flowers to finish the card.

Instructions:

1. Create a white cardbase.
2. Cut and adhere a mat from soft green cardstock and alter the edges of the patterned paper using brown distress ink and an ink blending tool.
3. Use Scrapbook Adhesives® E-Z Runner Permanent Strips Refillable Dispenser to affix onto card base.
4. Die-cut a frame from gold cardstock and glue to the cardbase using 3D Foam White Mix.
5. Stamp Quietfire Design stamp Christmas Is the Day  on white cardstock and die-cut.
6. Glue the die-cut on the card base using E-Z Runner Permanent Strips.
7. Glue the embellishements onto the card base using Dodz Adhesive Dots Medium.
8. Finish the card with some self-adhesive rhinestones.

And voila…your card is ready to be sent to someone special this Christmas.

Hello!!  I've created a card just right for Autumn using one of the gorgeous Quietfire calligraphy stamps from the Give Thanks Set.  It's stamped onto a panel that's been brayered with Distress Oxide Inks and die cut with a Stitched Rectangles cutting die.  In the background I've smooshed some regular Distress Inks and then stenciled with Oxide Ink using the wonderful leaves on the Leaf and Snowflake Spray stencil.

Everything is held together with either E-Z Dots Permanent Adhesive Dots or 3D Foam Squares.  I've also used the small 3D Foam Squares as an embellishment on the quote panel by covering them with Distress Glitter Dust Vintage Platinum.  A line of the Adhesive Dots along the bottom covered with foil give another touch of bling.

Thank You - Give Thanks - Alcohol Inks Stencil Leaves Easel

 

My turn on the Quietfire Creations blog and I thought I'd play with a stencil and alcohol inks... There are several variations using the same stencil, so take a peek...

I'm using an A Way With Words die from Elizabeth Craft Designs "Thank You", also available on Quietfire Design HERE

I'm using a quote stamp  from  Quietfire Design  ("Give Thanks" 2pce set);

 

Scored, and folded my cream toned cardstock to create the easel. Cut a pumpkin colored cardstock same size as card and adhered to front.

Created my alcohol stenciled background using glossy paper I mentioned getting a while back. Taped it to my work surface, then taped the stencil (Pronto "Leaves) down. Dropped various colors of alcohol inks (all the yellows and oranges, some Limeade, Pesto and Espresso). There was a lot of wetness and of course it seeped under the stencil - sigh!!, so I removed the stencil and set it aside to dry.

Now the stencil had a ton of dried ink on it, so not to waste it I continued playing. See below for the various results.

After playing with the other variations, I came back to the original one. I taped the glossy paper down, matched up the stencil, and adhered one end firmly to my work surface. Applied lots of blending solution to my felt and pounced on part of my stencil, then immediately pressed it down on my glossy paper giving the bubbly effect between the solid leaves. Continued applying the blending solution on different areas of the stencil and pressing down on the paper till the whole negative areas were bubbled... 

Trimmed it down, adhered to a sage green cardstock, then onto my card front. Adhered a burgundy narrow ribbon and bow, adding an amethyst cabochon to the bow center.

Die cut the "Thank You" from a cream toned cardstock and a dark colored cardstock. Applied Versamark to the dark one and embossed with Emerald Creek "Oil Rubbed Bronze" embossing powder, then adhered both layers together slightly off set, then on to the card front. On the Floor: Used the same stencil and Distress inks, sponged various colors of yellows, oranges, greens and brown. Dried thoroughly.

Stamped the quote using Versafine Black Onyx and clear embossed.

Adhered the 3 buttons to act as my stopper using a glue gun.

THE VARIATIONS: (Click on images to enlarge)I applied a generous amount of blending solution to my felt, then swiped it over the glossy paper all over leaving a nice wetness on the paper. IMMEDIATELY flipped it over on to my dirty stencil and pressed down, burnishing the wetness into the stencil to release the dried ink.I  started this one the same as above, then pounced with the wet felt, which released the dried up ink from the stencil.

Note: my stencil had ink on both sides, so the 1st step was the result on one side of the stencil and the 2nd step was the other side of the stencil. For this one I just used a clean wet felt and and in a cleaning/sweeping kind of motion moved the dried ink off the stencil and onto my glossy paper.
 

Give Thanks ...

Good morning to all of you and thanks so much for stopping over today.  It's been a really nice week of weather here in California and the leaves are changing and dropping from the trees so it's a good time to do all those Thankful cards and projects that you have been wanting to do.

My stamp that i used for this little mini banner i made is called "Give Thanks" and 

actually has 2 stamps in the set.  Both are beautiful sentiments and can be used lots of ways.

I stamped mine on a piece of printed ivory paper but I think i should have embossed it with dark brown to make it pop more but i still like the vintage ways that it all came out.  

And the pumpkin i made with oval dies and then used some leaf dies to do the rest.

It was a really fun project to make and doing things like this with your stamps is a good

way to decorate for the holidays and fun little things for your kids to make too.

Hi Everyone it's Teresa here today to share a fun card that i did using the "Thanks" metal cutting die and the "Thanks Cuddlers" set of 7 that goes with it.  I wanted to make something different this time so i used Basic Grey Aurora papers, die cuts and pockets and then used the Thanks to create a die for the title of my card on the front.  It was fun and easy to do and that always makes it great!!

This was a fun cosmic inspired paper line so i added gold around the edges of the layers

and then embossed one of the layers of the Thanks die cut in gold too.  The black staggered

layer really made it pop and the gold makes it fun and shiny.  I love that!!

Here is a closeup of the Thanks die cut and the embossing.  Embossing things with ink and

gold or silver powder is a great way to achieve a gorgeous effect without having to find

the perfect paper, especially when it's late into the evening and stores are closed :)

Inside of my card i stamped 3 of the sentiments in black but you

could do whatever you needed since there are so many to chose from....

Give Thanks

Hi There!!!  It's Wanda here today sharing an Autumn, thankful card.  The Quietfire Design stamp I used is from the Give Thanks set.

To create my background I've used Distress Inks (barn door, worn lipstick, mustard seed, tea dye) and a stencil (TCW).  I put barn door, worn lipstick and mustard seed on my craft sheet (just smooshed pad to craft sheet), sprayed the ink spots with water and dragged a piece of white cardstock through the ink.  This was dried and then tea dye ink was added through the leaf stencil using a mini ink blending tool.  The quote is stamped with Archival Ink jet black.  Along the left side I put a piece of tissue tape wrapping it to the back and then I inked the edges with vintage photo Distress Ink.  The leaf spray attached over the tissue tape is an Elizabeth Craft Designs die (leafy branch), die cut from manila cardstock, inked with embossing ink and embossed (red geranium and orange blossom embossing powders).  Red twine was wrapped around the bottom with the ends taped to the back and a small twine bow made to go at the top of the spray.  Everything is attached to a folded white card. 

Thanks Dies - More than 1 way - Give Thanks & There is Always cards

Yogi here today with a couple of cards using one of Suzanne's NEWEST dies. Love them. Suzanne came out with 3 beautiful dies "Thanks", "Hello" & "Believe". Can't wait for more to come out...

There is more than 1 way to use a die... for the first card I'm using it to emboss/deboss the word. On the 2nd card I'm actually using it to die cut the word BIG GRIN, but I'm decorating the card with some home made flower baubles - instructions included below. Enjoy

I dry embossed the thanks onto 110# white cardstock using the Spellbinders tan mat - careful, don't use too much pressure... Trimmed it down to size, then hit the high points direct to paper with Distress "Pumice Stone".

Dry embossed the brickwork (Sizzix Tim's "Bricked"), only partially running it through my machine. Hit the high points again direct to paper with "Brushed Corduroy". Adhered to a blue cardstock and used my layering ruler set to trim 1/16". Wrapped some orange string around the 2 layers and then adhered to a tan cardstock. Again used the layering ruler and trimmed 1/4".

Dry embossed the checked design (Spellbinders "Gold Rectangles 1" set), hit the high points with "Broken China" then adhered my thanks layers and trimmed down then adhered all this to my white top folded card.

Adhered some masculine buttons, tying them with some of the orange string then using a hot glue gun.

A final touch was to add the little lizzard. An image I found on line and eCut, painted with Distress acrylics and added some black dots for eyes.

 On the inside stamped the quote "There is Always..." using Versafine Black Onyx and clear embossed. Cut a mask and stamped the brickwork (Kaiser Craft) inking with Distress mini pads ("Pumice Stone", then here and there with the burlap, misting with water prior stamping. Swiped "Antique Linen" over the whole design.

I had cut a 2nd lizard, painted with Distress in orange and blue and adhered it.

Stamped the leafy frame (Creative Expressions "Cabbage Rose Frame") using distress greens, misting with water prior stamping. Adhered the thanks.

FLOWER BAUBLES:
Using Michael's plastic beads. Warm toaster oven to 300ºF. Using the tray that comes with the oven and a silpat layer (or a heat resistant craft sheet) arrange 5 beads touching each other like petals. Place in oven and allow to melt - approx 20 min. You can open the oven part way through to push the beads if they are not touching each other using a metal spatula or I used the ends of my tweezers. Put back in oven to continue. When done, remove from heat and IMMEDIATELY press a half pearl in the centers, pushing down. You'll feel some resistance which is good, probably means it's attaching itself to the inner side edges of the flower. If there is really a lot of resistance, put the beads back in the oven to warm up again. Adhere with Golden's gel medium.

Tie some little bows and adhere between flowers.

On the inside, stamped the quote "Give Thanks..." using the black. Stamp the flower (Rubbernecker "Blossom") inking stamp with Distress "Broken China" & "Seedless Preserves" & green for the stems, misting with water and stamping.

Hello Everyone, Terre Fry here with an easy but elegant card! This is one of my favorite stamps from Quietfire Design, "Give Thanks For A Little". I die cut pattern paper as a background piece using Spellbinders Resplendent Rectangles. I stamped my Give Thanks For A Little sentiment on white cardstock using Tsukineko Memento Tuxedo Black ink. To secure all my die cut pieces I used Beacon Adhesives Zip Dry and 3L Foam Squares. I coordinated my pattern paper with a cream and black ribbon from May Arts Ribbon. To tie it all together and add that little pop, I used Want2Scrap 72 Count Black Rhinestone bling.

I'm using parts of quotes  and one of the newest quote stamps from Quietfire Design. as well as the printed words from eCut labels available on the Silhouette online store.

Craft Room Labels General, Craft room Labels - Pen set, (ps there are more labels available), Courage Doesn't Always Roar, You May Not Be Able, Give Thanks For Little.

I sanded the outside until I got the smoothness I wanted. I gave the front a very light coat of white gesso.

I traced a real oak leaf onto cardstock, cut it out and used it as a stencil to draw my leaf design using a pencil. I went over the lines adding veins with a wood burning pointed tool. I also added some darker areas below the leaves as shadows. Colored the leaves with Derwent Inktense watercolor pencils and moved the colors around with water.

VERY LIGHTLY sprayed a piece of photocopy paper with repositionable spray (Krylon Easy Tac), placed a piece of white tissue paper onto the stickiness, then trimmed off the excess. Ran it through my printer, printing the words from the label designs. Carefully removed the tissue paper from the photocopy paper. Used a wet brush around the words to tear it. Adhered it to the leaves with Golden's Matte Medium.

Masked off the words from the quote I wanted to stamp and inked it with Versafine Black Onyx, clear embossed.

Stamped the ladybug (Lasting Impressions) a couple times. Added the 3D ladybug from my stash (very old stash...)

The back I painted with brown chalkboard paint which gave it a nice matte finish.

I stamped the 5 petal leaf (Rubbernecker "Leaf 5") using white acrylic paint, when dry, colored with the Inktense pencils. (PS wash your stamp right away...)

The maple leaves (Rubbernecker "Maple Leaf") I inked up the stamp using Distress acrylic daubers ("Mustard Seed", "Wild Honey", "Barn Door" & "Crushed Olive") and stamping. When dry, shadow outlined with a Sakura white gel pen.

Stamped the quote using Versafine "Toffee" and embossing with white embossing powder.

For the inside, I masked my edges and spray painted with a green acrylic paint
