Let's Party & - Celebrate HB - Easel Macarons
Yogi here today with a tutorial on making faux "Macarons"... I love Macarons but since they have too much refined sugar which I try to abstain from, I have to be happy with the faux ones. Sigh!!! Click on any image to enlarge. Enjoy
I'm using several A Way With Word dies from Elizabeth Craft Designs, "It's A Party"; "Let It Snow"; "Calligraphic Elements 2 - Ampersand" all 3 also available on Quietfire Design HERE, HERE and HERE
I'm also using several sentiment stamps from Quietfire Design "Just For You" 4pce set; "Twirl and Enjoy" 3pce set; "Happy Birthday Plain and Simple" 7pce set
Folded my white card in half (5" square") and then used the outside edge as a guide from the largest die of the Beaded Circles (Elizabeth Craft Designs) to cut my circle. Scored and folded the front half in half to create the easel. Cut another white circle for the front piece. Ran it through my embossing machine using the "Coffee Bean" embossing folder (Elizabeth Craft Designs), inking one side with Distress "Old Paper" and clear embossing after dry embossing. Hit the high points with "Ground Espresso" pad. Adhered to card front.
Die cut the largest beaded circle, keeping the negative piece for the floor. Inked the beaded circle using the espresso pad and adhered to card.
Created my Macrons - see tutorial at bottom.
Die cut the party from "It's A Party" from pink cardstock and the 's & "Let" from "Let It Snow" from aqua cardstock, cutting off the bits I needed to create the word "let's"
Adhered all my elements to the front. Adding some colored enamel dots.
On the Floor: Sponged the negative of the beaded circle using "Fossilized Amber". Sponged some espresso around the edge of the floor. Adhered the negative piece to the floor.
Stamped the words " "Just For You - Celebrate" 4pce set", "Twirl and Enjoy" 3pce set", and "Happy Birthday Plain and Simple" 7pce set, masking off the areas I didn't want to stamp using Versafine Black Onyx and clear embossing.
Die cut the "Calligraphic Elements 2 - Ampersand" from a red cardstock and adhered.
Adhered the bottom edge of the red Macarons to act as my stopper.
MACARONS TUTORIAL:
Step 1: Created the Macrons by cutting fat oval shapes (use a die or punch or electronic cutter, or cut by hand...) - you need 3 the same size ovals for each Macarons. Keep one of your negative pieces as well to use as a stencil.
Step 2: Place the stencil approx 3/16" above the bottom edge (you can see this with the open space from the negative cut out), hold the negative piece and your oval firmly and sponge with your meringue color, laying down a heavier color around the edges going to nothing in the center.
Step 3: Remove stencil and sponge the upper edge
Step 4: then sponge the lower edge where the traditional feet of Macarons is.
Step 5: Sponge the 2nd oval in a similar way placing the stencil approx 1/4" above the bottom edge and sponge. Remove stencil and sponge the bottom edge white area.
Step 6: With a matching colored pencil that is slightly darker than your sponged color add little nicks and dots to create the "feet" look. (pay attention to what area your are adding the nicks...)
You can color the 3rd oval which is your filling or leave it white and use Viva Pearl Pens or Liquid Pearls to give that glossy filling look.
Step 7: Adhere the 3 layers.
Step 8: add the Viva Pearl or Liquid Pearls in a thin bead.

Happy Birthday Plain & Simple and A Way With Words
Hello and Happy Wednesday to you!!! It's Wanda here today and I love making fall themed cards and even better if I need one for a birthday. Quietfire Design has lots of wonderful choices for birthdays and I've chosen the stamp set Happy Birthday Plain & Simple and the fabulous Happy Birthday die for this card!!
For the leaf I've used the Tim Holtz layered leaf die and embossing folder set. I smooshed Distress Ink (mostly barn door and carved pumpkin with just a little ground espresso and picked raspberry) onto my craft sheet, sprayed them with water and dragged a piece of white cardstock through the ink. Dried it, pressed it straight down into left over ink and dried it again. I die cut the leaf, embossed it, and then inked over the embossing and also the edges with vintage photo.
For the background I again did smooshing with Distress Inks, mustard seed and wild honey, and dried it. I used 5 of the 7 stamps from the Happy Birthday set putting them all onto an acrylic block and stamped with vintage photo ink. It was easy to continue stamping so I got a pleasing arrangement of words in my background. I used a waterbrush and barn door ink for the speckles in the background. With the wet brush I picked up ink from the craft sheet and tapped the brush against my finger to cause the ink to splatter out. Because it's a waterbrush, as you are tapping the brush against your finger more water goes to the tip and you get both darker speckles and lighter speckles. The edges are inked with vintage photo and carved pumpkin. A black pen was used to doodle lines around the edges.
Happy Birthday was die cut twice from white cardstock backed with double sided adhesive and once from a beige velvet adhesive sheet (Elizabeth Craft Designs). These were stacked together with the velvet on top and then I sprayed it with Distress Stain ground espresso to get a deep rich brown color. A white gel pen was used to add some dots along the left side of the "H" and the "B".
Everything is assembled as shown and adhered to a white folded card. Finished size is 5 1/4" x 6 1/2".

Keep Your Faith - Those Who Find - HB - Side Easel
Yogi here today with, I think, a very involved card... BIG GRIN - but loving all the little details... if you're going to make something for a friend, shouldn't it be extra special...
I'm using some of the newest cardstock on the Elizabeth Craft Designs website. Just fabulous "Soft Finish". It's got a smooth side and a textured side. Both accept Pan Pastels wonderfully. It's like silky velvet. WOW is all I can say... The flowers, Friends word (also available on Quietfire Design HERE), and bird are done on the textured side, the leaves on the smooth side. The cardstock reacts beautifully to tooling.
Also using the "Bark" embossing folder from Elizabeth Craft Designs.
I'm using a bunch of Quietfire Design quote and sentiment stamps. ("Keep Your Faith..."); ("Those who find..."); ("Happy Birthday Plain and Simple" 7pce set).

Inked up the Bark embossing folder with Distress "Ground Espresso", misted with water and ran through my machine. Repeated the process. Removed from folder, then sponged "Tea Dye" all over the high points. Folded the cardstock at the join of the 2 embossings and cut them apart with an x-acto knife, then spliced them together again. Unless you know they were spliced it is really hard to see...
Used Spellbinders "Matting Basics "B" 5 x 7 die set to cut out the frame. Adhered to card front.
For the leaves, applied the Pan Pastels to the smooth side of the cardstock. It adhered beautifully... (see pastel background pic below). Die cut the leaves and used a small balled stylus to add veining, then touched areas with more pastels for contrasts. Hit the edges with a Versamark pad and embossed with Queen's Gold.
Stamped the quote ("Keep Your Faith...") with Versafine Toffee and embossed with the gold.

The flowers were die cut from the textured side and colored with the pastels after die cutting. First with red in the centers and then with yellow on the edges, then tooled both on front and back with a large balled stylus on a foam mat. Adhered the leaves and flowers, then the glittered pearl centers adding a dab of Best Ever glue.
Die cut the "Friends" (Friends word - also available on Quietfire Design HERE) from the textured side and colored with streaks of various Pan Pastel yellows (lightest on top and darker on the bottom). Scored a piece of the BoBunny cardstock to be the same height as the front edge around frame. Adhered the bottom edge of the word to the scored lip edge. Adhered the fold to the floor to act as the stopper.

Stamped the quote ("Those who find...") on a scrap piece of the BoBunny paper using the Toffee and embossing with the gold. Hand cut a scrap piece of the bark background to create the frame and adhered the quote to the back, trimmed down excess. Adhered to floor with 3d foam tape.

Tied a yellow silk bow and adhered to frame with hot glue.
Added some left over leaves.

Heirloom Roses - Those Who Find - HB

The other die I'm in love with is another Sue Wilson (Creative Expression) die from the Gemini series "Lyra". It makes such a gorgeous edge - sigh!!
OK enough drooling and on to the card...
I used a bunch of birthday sentiments (Happy Birthday Plain & Simple" 7pce set) for the front and a quote ("Always Be My Friend" 3 pce set) on the inside by Quietfire Design
I die cut my edge from white 110# cardstock, then scored, folded and trimmed it down.
Masked of the die cut edge, stamped the birthday sentiments using Versamark and clear embossed. Repeated till the front was filled. Sponged Distress "Mustard Seed" heavily all over. Removed the mask and wiped off the embossed words with a damp paper towel.

Created the roses from 65# Staples brand white cardstock. Sponged with "Picked Raspberry" using a streaking motion rather than evenly filling the die cut shapes. Then streaked with the mustard seed. Repeated the process on the backs. Rolled up my coil, allowed it to loosen and glued it to it's backing, set aside to dry. Used a large balled stylus and a foam mat to shape the petal pieces on both sides, glued the little tabs and then glued the flower parts together.
The smaller flowers:
Note: For those of you that have the capabilities of scanning and uploading images to an electronic cutter. I then cut the shapes at two smaller sizes than the die cut.
PS if you don't have this choice, just use a couple of the die cuts - eliminating the larger petal layer and or adding a 2nd small layer or just using the center bud - so you get a variation of sizes.
Colored some 110# cardstock with the mustard seed and die cut the rose leaves (Memory Box "Sonora Rose"). Held the leaf down on my craft mat using the flat edge of the point of my x-acto knife and direct to paper with "Peeled Paint" ink pad.
Stamp Pad Note: since the Distress pads don't go edge to edge in the container, fingers get in the way when inking small pieces, so using the tip of something narrow or fine to hold down the leaf, allows the pad to skim right to the edge.
Then added a few pink rhinestone flourishes.

On the inside: embossed the right edge using Crafts Too "Blossom" embossing folder. Skimmed "Spun Sugar" over the high points.
I made a little booboo when I stamped the quote... So had to cut a separate piece of white cardstock using the die cut edger die to cover it up BIG GRIN -. Trimmed it down and adhered.
Stamped the quote with the black onyx and clear embossed.
Stamped the birds on branches (Local King Rubber "Asian Essence") using Distress markers to color the stamp, misting with water and stamping. masked off part of the design to stamp the 2nd stamp.

Upper bird: (Salty Ocean, Picked Raspberry; Flower: Festive Berry; Leaves: same as above and the black)

Yogi - Easel Love - Words of Love - HB card

I die cut the largest of the Spellbinders "Labels 42 Decorative Accents" frame from white cardstock, sponged through the die using a dirty pink sponge. Stamped the largest FLOURISH using Versafine Black Onyx and clear embossed.
Used the negative of the die cut to scan and then cut a shadow layer using my electronic cutter. Hit the edges with Versafine "Toffee" and embossed with Queen's Gold embossing powder. Adhered both layers together with 3D foam tape.
Used the same scanned image to create my easel card, welding 2 frames together, selecting all, and increasing the size to 10" high so I would end up with a 5"h card when folded. Scored and folded the easel and adhered the decorative layer.
eCut the word "Love with a Flourish" as well as a shadow layer from white cardstock, inked the first layer with the Toffee and embossed with the gold. Hit the shadow layer with Distress "Picked Raspberry", then with Versamark, then adhering the first layer to the shadow layer as quickly as possible so the shadow layer was still wet enough to clear emboss. Adhered to card front.
Tied a double peg bow from 1.5"w Fuchsia gauze ribbon. adhered to card with a glue gun. Used a small left over piece to adhere under the "e" on the right side.

Die cut the 2 smaller hearts (Spellbinders "Nested Hearts") from white cardstock, sponged edges with Picked Raspberry and clear embossed. adhered one to the other and then added a small flap on the back to create my stopper for the easel.
Cut the Happy Birthday - plain & simple sentiment in half and stamped using the black.
Stamped the "Words of Love..." quote using the black and clear embossed.
Added a mauve heart button tied with some fuchsia string and adhered using the glue gun. Added some white pearl flourishes.

Happy Birthday card...
Hello everyone,
It´s Yvonne here all the way from a sunny Holland and... with my very first blogpost as DT-member of Quietfire....
no need to say I'm a very proud happy girl!
I love making romantic/vintage style cards and I hope I can inspire you with my little projects.
If you have any questions on my projects or maybe special requests, please do let me know!
Today I´m sharing with you a romantic birthday card with the "Happy Birthday Plain & Simple" (SKU 5899) set in combination with some Spellbinders dies.
I love this set of Birthday stamps for it's variety in "handwritings"...it suits every style!
The size of the white card base is 5¾"x7¾" and each layer upon is ¼" smaller in size.
For the embossed background I used Spellbinders M-Bossabilities Floral Labels 4 and added silver accents by gently dabbing some Brilliance Platinum planet ink (using a dauber) onto the embossed parts.
The brown doily was made with Spellbinders Picot Edge Circles (I used the largest die).
Glue the doily onto the cardbase using Glue Dots Pop up Relief for an extra 3D effect.
The Quietfire Happy Birthday sentiment was stamped on white cardstock using Jet black Archival ink and cut a banner (with scissors).
And finally embellish with a bow and lots and lots of flowers.
I'm looking forward to your comments!
Have a nice day,
Hugs,
Yvonne
