Acrylic Paint on an Acrylic Block; Mothers Hold their Children's Hands

Hello!!!  It's Wanda (Art By Wanda) here today with a couple of cards to share including a tutorial for creating the background color.  It's hard to believe it's March already and as quickly as March has come, May will be here in a flash so it's not too early to think about Mother's Day.  My first card uses a stamp just perfect for that occasion.  

For my background I'm using acrylic paint, specifically Fresco Finish Chalk Acrylics (colors - coral, orchid).  I put a small puddle of each color on my craft sheet.

I spread the color using my finger, blending where the colors came together, and making sure it was a large enough area for the acrylic block I wanted to use.

Press the acrylic block into the paint.

Just in time for Mother's day

Hi everyone it's Teresa here today to share a quick Mother's Day card that you can whip up with just a few simple papers and one of my favorite stamps called "Mother's Hold their children's hands". This is such a beautiful saying and would be perfect to give to a special mom or grandmother too.

To make this card i used a watercolor paper that i got from Micheal's that had tiny gold flecks in it for my background.  I matted it with a matching pink cardstock and then a shiny ivory cardstock for my card base.  Over that i glued two strips of pink and gold ribbon to the base and then i cut out a gold filigree die from Becca Feeken.  This gave the perfect trim to go under my stamped image.

 I thought that gold embossing would really set it off so i stamped it in black Versafine ink and embossed it with gold powder.  It came out really thin and clear and really made all the gold in the ribbon and backgrounds pop.  I hope that you like it.

Mothers Hold Their Children's Hands - Calligraphic Love Bits - ECD Love

Hello!!  It's Wanda here today.  I can't believe how quickly this year is flying by.  It's almost May!!!  How did that happen!  With Mother's Day a short 1 1/2 weeks away (in the US) some of you might be needing card ideas and so I've used a wonderful Quietfire Mother-themed stamp.  You can find this and others under the topic, Mother... Here.  If, like me, your mother has passed away, this card easily translates to any theme such as Happy Birthday, Happy Anniversary... etc. 

I love this leafy branch die, have used it several times and sometimes keep the negative such as the one used on this card that is watercolor paper.  I put some Distress Ink on my craft sheet, sprayed on some water and then dipped the paper in the color.  Since I only had the negative, I needed to cut a branch and did that from white cardstock so I could offset it from the negative piece.  The purple layer is dry embossed with a folder.  "Love" is cut from Shimmer Sheetz.  The heart (Calligraphic Love Bits stamp set) is stamped with purple ink and I've brushed Wink of Stella (Gl. Clear) over the purple ink.  The quote is stamped with Jet Black.  A pretty simple card with a big punch I think.

Mother's Day card- Mothers hold their children's hands

 Happy Friday, All!  Kathy Jo here sharing a Mother's Day card using Quietfire's heartwarming Mothers hold their children's hands sentiment:

This is a perfect stamp for Mother's Day, mom's birthday or a "thinking of you mom" moment. 

There are several layers to the card (from the bottom up): tent fold ivory card stock base, black card stock, antique pink card stock cut using Spellbinders Romantic Rose, ivory card stock cut using Spellbinders Devine Floral, ivory card stock cut using Spellbinders Floral Ovals, and ivory cut using Spellbinders Labels 39.  The sentiment was heat embossed on the ivory card stock prior to die cutting with Labels 39.  Prior to popping out the die cut from the die, I applied Distress Ink in Tattered Rose in the areas shown.  

To complete the card, a double bow using the beautiful 1.5" wide ivory crinkle ribbon and a cameo embellishment applied using Zip Dry glue.

Throwback Thursday - Mothers Hold Their Children's Hands

This isn't a throwback very far - only one year.  But this is such a beautiful card, created by Robyn Josephs, that I'm delighted to share it again.

Her instructions....

Mothers Hold Their Children's Hands is inked with VersaFine Sepia and thermal embossed clear, and colorized with Distress Tumbled Glass and Antique Linen.

The frame is created with stash, a vintage doily and scraps of handmade paper, all held in place with a frame constructed from Spellbinders Resplendent Rectangle.

Mothers Hold Their Children's Hands card, How Old Would You Be masculine birthday card

Hello All! Kathy Jo here sharing my first post for the Quietfire Creations blog!  I am very honored and happy to be part of the Quietfire Design Team.

Today's post will show two card projects: one feminine and one masculine.

Mother's Day is fast approaching and I cannot think of a more perfect stamp for a card than Quietfire's Mother's hold their children's hands sentiment. It is such a sweet and heartwarming sentiment!

Here is a closeup of the sentiment. It was stamped and embossed in a pale green to match the base die cuts. The top two die cuts are from one of my favorite sets of Spellbinders- Opulent Ovals. Opulent Ovals has lovely curves that compliment the flourishes on the stamp set.

The pink and ivory paper was made by using Spellbinders Impressabilities Flourish as a screen. Tim Holtz' Victorian Velvet was applied as shown.

Next I would like to share the birthday card I made for my dad.  The card front used the Quietfire stamped quote "How old would you be if you didn't know how old you are?".  This is a great stamp- not only is the the quote absolutely amazing but because any baseball fan would love it.  (As soon as I saw this stamp, I had to have it!)  The quote was from Satchel Paige- a professional baseball player that many would argue was one of the best pitchers of the 20th century.  My dad is a baseball fan so this stamp was a must on his card!

To stick with the baseball theme, I used Graphic 45's Good Ol' Sport paper.  All edges were stained using Tim Holtz Distress Inks in Vintage Photo, Antique Linen and Walnut Stain.  The card base is a Recollections corrugated card base.  The quote was die cut using Spellbinders Marvelous Squares.

The paper pennants were adhered to give an appearance of blowing in the wind. The largest die from Spellbinders A2 Fancy Ribbon Threader was distressed and had ivory twine threaded through the holes as shown.  

The inside of the card used Quietfire's Happy Birthday stamp from the Happy Family Days with Calligraphic Frame set.  Marvelous Squares die cut more of the Graphic 45 paper.

Mother's Hold Their Children's Hands Card

Hello everyone, Terre here with a quick and easy card, but the question is does it look like it was quick and easy? For this card I chose one of Quietfire Designs perfect sentiments "Mother's Hold Their Children's Hands". I embossed the entire front of the card using Spellbinders 5 x 7  Elegant Labels Four Card Creator die templates. The nice thing is you can find that die template right here at Quietfire Designs.

I used Core'dinations color core cardstock and sanded it once I had embossed it, I also cut the Spellbinders Labels Four die template out of white cardstock, stamped my sentiment in the center and adhered it to the card front with Beacon Adhesives Zip dry, my favorite liquid glue. I added some Want2Scrap Border Bling from Nina Bracket, tied a bow out of May Arts ribbon and there you have it, fast and simple but elegant! Mothers Hold Their Children's Hands Card



Hello everyone, Terre here with another creative card using this heartfelt sentiment "Mothers Hold Their Children's Hands" stamp from Quietfire Designs. I just have to ask did you look at all the amazing stamps that Quietfire Designs carries? This card I created not only has the amazing sentiment, it also has Spellbinders S5-158 Timeless Rectangles. The sentiment was stamped using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink from Tsukineko.

I also used S4-395 Les Papillons Two, die cut them using the Grand Calibur machine and My Minds Eye pattern paper, added a few Want2Scrap Pearls and Finesse Swirls.

Mothers Hold Their Children's Hands, God Grant me the Serenity...,Live in the moment...

Robyn here, following once again in Holly's ink prints! If you haven't given this grid technique a try,I encourage you to do so!

I was on my way to a Fiber Arts Alliance gathering and wanted an easy to transport and stunning way to showcase the new stamps and how versatile they are.

I started out by practicing the technique using my brass rules and a grid mat to make my lines nice and straight. No measuring required with brass rules.

This is a 5 by 4  card stock with 3/4" squares

Then I got small!

I made 3 ATC's, starting with the individual words I pulled out of each stamp, thermal embossed in gold.

Then I stamped the Gingkos in VersaFine Olympia green( almost black- I'm allergic to black) and then my grid lines. I used the watercolors (i forget what-senior moment!) on the leaves.

 I colored with Distress Broken China and Wild Honey mixed with Scattered Straw.

I decided to mount the ATC's on a fan fold base bordered in
gold acrylic paint.

 The back was looking bare, so I added ATC's with the full quotes-keep it simple!

Mothers Hold Their Children's Hands, Happy Family Days

Hello, Charmaine Stack here from beautiful Victoria, British Columbia, Canada - just a few hours' drive down the road from where Quietfire Design is located. I am honored to be a Guest Designer on the Quietfire Creations blog for April. Gentle Thoughts rubber stamps from Quietfire Design are so beautifully elegant and a joy to use. As a failed calligrapher (I lack the self-discipline it requires) I appreciate the hand-lettering that Suzanne Cannon painstakingly produces and turns into rubber. I often use these stamps on the inside of my cards, but I figured that wouldn't be very exciting to share here - so instead I have a Mother's Day card to show you.

Card 6.5 inches

This is a large, old Magenta stamp from my stash. I stamped it with Versafine Toffee pigment ink on white uncoated cardstock. I gently rubbed some chalks on for pink skin tone and deep blue fabric. I stopped there, hoping less is more! I matted the rectangle with teal and copper layers of cardstock.

This happy greeting was stamped in Kaleidacolor Cappuccino Delight dye ink. Gradient colour is very hot right now in fashion and crafts (me trendy - who knew?) and even if you are an accomplished calligrapher, this is difficult to achieve with pen and ink. I used Antique Linen and Brushed Corduroy Distress Inks to sponge the oval, and matted with teal. Ovals were cut with Spellbinders Classic Ovals dies.

This upper oval was actually cut with a Spellbinders Floral Oval die, but I trimmed the lacy bits off to leave the pin dot border. The sweet new sentiment stamp received the same gradient treatment. The ribbon is a tail-less bow that I created by punching two holes vertically at the top of the oval. I threaded a length of ribbon through the holes, leaving a bit of a bubble showing. I inserted a loop of ribbon through the bubble and then pulled the ribbon on the backside to cinch it tight. It's a simple finishing touch.

While vintage is a favorite style of mine, Gentle Thoughts rubber stamps are extremely versatile. Here's a contemporary card in pink and teal (mounted on Bubblegum Hills paper) using the same lovely quote:

The sentiment was double stamped to create a shadow/highlight effect. The heart is created using the Burnished Velvet technique using two shades of Glitter Ritz Microfine Glitter and the lovely Serafina Heart die from Memory Box. I "cheated" and pieced a scalloped mat for the heart from a Spellbinders Scalloped Heart die cut. The whole thing is mounted on a folded card cut with a Spellbinders Labels 8 die.

Mothers Hold Their Children’s Hands!

Good morning!  Sherry here today and I have a fun chipboard tag to share.  I just received the new March stamps the other day and I couldn’t wait to put some ink on them.  

The base is a chipboard page from an old album that I had in my stash.  It was covered with paper from the Graphic 45 Secret Garden Collection, which was sanded away at the edges and then inked with Antique Linen Distress Ink.    The sentiment was stamped in black on white cardstock, then die cut/embossed with Spellbinders Decorative Labels One.  While the paper was till in the die, Antique Linen was sponged around the inner edge of the die.

An oval frame was made from chipboard with Spellbinders Grand Ovals, painted white and then layered with other images from the Secret Garden Collection.  The seam binding ribbon (dyed Antique Linen) was woven through all the layers and fastened in the corner.  The Bitty Blossom flower was die cut from another page in the collection and the foliage was die cut from watercolor paper then colored with Peeled Paint, Vintage Photo and Forest Moss Distress Stains.
