Quietfire Summer Blog Hop - Day 1

Welcome to Day 1 of the Quietfire Summer Blog Hop! It’s Suzanne here today.  I was thinking it was way past time to pull out my newborn/baby designs, so that's the focus of today's project from me!  Even if you're not making a baby card, I hope some of the techniques in this project make their way into your other cards.

Now back to the project! Here is how you can make it:

Supplies for this project:

Welcome
Little Ones
Flourished Night Sky
Flourished Frame
Welcome Little One Stamps
My Little Girl Paper
white cardstock
dark and pale pink cardstock
green cardstock
VersaMagic Malted Mauve stamp ink
Glue Dots
3D Foam Squares

Instructions:

1. Stamp the oval sentiment on a panel of light pink paper measuring 4.25 x 6.25" closer to the top of the panel, as shown.  (You will need to leave room for the Welcome die below.)
2. Die cut Welcome and the solid backing of the onesie from dark pink paper.  Die cut the Flourished Moon and the little flower (both from the Flourished Night Sky) and the Flourished Frame from white cardstock.  Also cut a panel slightly larger than the pale pink panel from white cardstock as well.
3. Die cut the onesie from patterned paper.  Form a 6" x 7" high side-fold card base from coordinating patterned paper.
4. Die cut the flower leaves from green cardstock.
5. Assemble the onesie and adhere to the center of the stamped oval. 
6. Mount the stamped oval panel to the white panel.  Cut the Flourished Frame in half lengthwise.  Adhere the halves of the frame so they peak outside the white panel as shown. I used Glue Dots to do this.
   
7. Adhere Welcome below the stamped oval sentiment. Add the leaves behind the flower with Glue Dots and adhere it to the flourish on Welcome with Foam Squares to give some dimension.  Adhere the Flourished Moon as shown with Foam Squares.
   
8. Adhere this to the cardbase with Foam Squares.

All done!  I hope this gives you some ideas for creating your own card. Congrats to the new parents and happy creating to you!

How my card making progresses

Hi, Diana here with a couple of cards that shows two things - I can fit a Quietfire Design die/stamp on anything and my card making progresses as I play. 

My first card is a straight up combination of dies.  I love this Welcome die - that flourish on top just makes me happy.  I had just gotten this Village Edges by Elizabeth Craft Designs and thought combined they would make the perfect Welcome to the neighborhood type card.  I used the Retro Alphabet Trio die set to add "to the neighborhood" but I didn't have room so I just spelled out "home" which I think works great.  

I used Copics to color the Village die and also the bottom of the Welcome die for a nice ombre effect.  I sponged the clouds on the card base before gluing on all the die cuts.

Very basic card for me which is what I typically do when I first get a die.  For my second card, I decided to add more textures to the die by making the houses a bit more realistic.  I dabbed my Copics to mimic a stone house and a brick  house.  The roofs are now different colors from the walls and I added some trees.

I chose the "live next door" stamp from the "In a Perfect World" stamp set this time around - it's one of my favorite stamps.  But I think "Miss You" or "Congratulations" would also go great with this village die.  Like I said, I can find lots of places to use my Quietfire Design dies/stamps!

Welcome, Little One

Hi!  It's been a while since I made a baby card but I had a chance to color these Stackable Cuties by Mama Elephant while on vacation.  I thought they went perfectly with a baby themed card so I came up with this:

The card base is 5" x 7" so I made a panel 4.5" x 6.5" with white card stock.  I sponged some clouds on it with Distress Inks and glued the animals like they were sitting on the clouds.  The Welcome die cut was stacked on 3 times out of the same blue as the thin mat.  I stamped the "Little One" from the Welcome Little Ones clear stamp collection.

If you have a ton of cute little critters stamp image like I do, you can easily make this card your own but using any of those critters.  The Welcome can be blue or pink or a neutral color to suit your recipient.

Planning the Wedding Stationery!

A big part of planning the perfect wedding is the stationery!  Here are some ideas for adding your handmade love to a special day!  If you've been following this blog and the Elizabeth Craft Designs blog you will have seen some of these projects before.  I've finally completed the set and assembled them together!  I'm sure you could come up with even more ideas by combining different A Way With Words dies.

Save The Date

Sending this out will certainly alert everyone that there something really big happening!  How exciting!

For this wedding set, I used Soft Finish Cardstock in white, both 90lb and 110lb.  The heavier cardstock makes a great cardbase so make sure you use that!  Soft finish cardstock has a wonderful delicate pebbled surface that softens blended inks.  It's very classy!

All the stationery features ink blending using Distress Worn Lipstick and Bundled Sage.   They vary a bit with placement in these samples, but you can be consistent throughout the collection. Adhere the elements with Micro Glue Dots.

Last summer Kathy Jo did a gorgeous wedding set using these dies.  Here is her Save the Date.  I'll share a few of her samples here, so you can see how she has used the same dies, but with a different design theme.  You can find even more of her ideas using these dies here including the Mr and Mrs die set.

Kathy Jo used a stamping platform to stamp out the information on the inside of the card!  Please Join Us and Months and Numbers were used to create this with formal black stamp ink!

You're Invited

Here it is!  The card they've been waiting for!  Add all the details inside and don't forget to include an RSVP card!

You're Invited is made the same way as Save the Date, simply change the diecut to You're Invited!

In this version the flourish from the Flourished Frame has been added underneath and the elements are cut from foiled cardstock.  Gorgeous!

And in it's simplest form....

Along with the invitation, you'll need an RSVP card.  Print the information on a separate paper and insert it with a couple of Glue Dots to the inside.  I've underlined the RSVP with the coordinating Long Stem Rose diecut.  So pretty!

Welcome

Once your guests have arrived, you might want to give them an Order of Service or Program.  Why not create a Welcome card!? 
This one is designed to unfold to all the information on the inside.  I've underlined the Welcome with the Long Stem Rose to coordinate with the RSVP.

Menu

After the ceremony, it's time to party!  If you're having a sit-down meal, you might like to include a menu at each place setting.  For these I've used the Menu diecut in two different ways.

The top one simply has the menu printed on a sheet of linen paper and then it is topped with the Menu diecut and Long Stem Rose, designed to continue the look of the RSVP and Welcome cards.

The second variation is a tent-fold card with Menu and Long Stem Rose on the front and the menu printed inside.

Favour Boxes

Give your guests a sweet memory of your special day with a tiny thank you gift box.  The Gable Box is a "fan favourite" for this job!

In this variation, I've used the little flourished rosebuds from the Rosebud Wreath and Elements die set.  These are some of the elements!

After the happy day, it's time to send out Thank You cards.  Continue on with the elegant look of your stationery by using Thank You 2 inside the Rosebud Wreath.

And last but not least....  It never hurts to have a little Love card handy if you're giving a gift or.....

This one uses the flourished rosebuds from the Rosebud Wreath & Elements and the A Way With Words Love diecut.

Welcome Spring!

Today I'm sharing a project for the Elizabeth Craft Designs Group Challenge.  The theme is spring and flowers!  Spring has arrived with a blaze of sunlight this week - but it's been unseasonably cold here on the west coast, so I pulled out the spring colours and had some fun.

Here is what I used to make this fast and easy, but still elegant, card:

Soft Finish Cardstock 100lb White  ECD

Other items:
Ranger Distress Ink: Worn Lipstick, Wild Honey, Bundled Sage
Ranger Ink Blending Tool
Glue Dots
Kool Tak Clear Foam adhesive

Instructions:

1. Form a 6 x 6" tent fold card base from white cardstock. Die cut the Rosebud Wreath and backing pieces as well as Welcome and Spring from white cardstock.
2. Blend Worn Lipstick and Wild Honey on the small flower backing pieces and adhere to back of wreath.  Mount wreath on card base with clear foam adhesive as shown.
3. Blend Bundled Sage on the Spring diecut leaving more colour at the top of the word.
4. Blend Worn Lipstick and Wild Honey on the Welcome diecut leaving more colour at the top of the word.
5. Adhere Welcome and Spring to the inside of the wreath using Glue Dots.  Designer Tip: Slightly roll the Glue Dots if they are too large.

Welcome Card with Die Cut and Glittered Long Roses

Hello, Connie Nichol here today with a card featuring two of the new dies just released by Elizabeth Craft Designs and designed by Suzanne Cannon.  Be sure to check out all the new dies at Quietfire Design.  They are just beautiful.

The rose dies are so cute and easy to customize with different colours of paper, ink or glitter.  I covered the base of the flower with glossy accents and sprinkled with Elizabeth Crafts Designs ultra fine glitter to add a sparkly touch.  

I made the background by brushing some watercolor ink onto a piece of watercolor paper, and sprinkling with coarse pickling salt to give the splotchy look.

I used another new die to add a sentiment to the bottom of the card.  Wouldn't this be a great card to give to a new neighbour?
