Merry and Bright

It's almost Christmas!  I couldn't resist making one more Christmas card even though it will have to be popped in the mail very soon to make it anywhere in time.  I always try to look to the sentiment for inspiration - hence the glitter and Shimmer Sheetz.  I love how bright and sparkly it is in real life!

For my background, I actually covered it with silver glitter washi tape.  It's the shiniest silver glitter I have in my stash and perfect peeking through the polka dot background die from My Favorite Things.  I then layered the Merry and Bright sentiment from Quietfire Design's Bright Holiday Words set, stamped in black pigment ink, clear embossed, and then matted in with a fine green layer.

The small poinsettias by Elizabeth Craft Designs were cut from bright red Shimmer Sheetz with rhinestone centers.  And of course it's a cloudy day and I can't photograph the "bright" properly.  :)

Quietfire Design's Bright Holiday Words

"thank you" watercolor card

Hello Crafty Friends!  Kathy Jo here sharing a watercolor Thank You card.  'Tis the season to be visiting friends and family- a handmade Thank You card would be a thoughtful gift to an event host or a kind friend.

The focal point of the card is the "Thank you" die set:

Watercolor paper was colored using two shades of yellow watercolor.  After drying, pink watercolor was randomly flicked on the background:

The background was die cut with a rectangular stitch die.  It was mounted on white card stock cut slightly larger than the yellow background.  Both were mounted on a scalloped card base.

A watercolor flower, twine, cheesecloth and washi tape was added to the corner as shown.  Stickles was applied to the flower center.

Thank you was die cut twice: coordinating pink card stock (matching the card base) and white card stock.  It was adhered to the card front using liquid adhesive.

Isn't it a bright and cheerful thank you card?  Change the colors and flower and it is perfect for a holiday themed card.

Christmas is the Day Scrapbook Layout with Merry and Deer with Flourished Antlers Cut Files

Hello, Connie Nichol here today with a festive Christmas layout featuring two sets of Quietfire Design stamps and two different Quietfire Design electronic die cutting files.

I started out with a plain piece of kraft cardstock, and using watermark ink (Versamark would give a similar effect), randomly stamped snowflakes from the Let it Snow Flourished Snowflake set to create a subtle background.  This is a set of six beautiful stamps - imagine the possibilities for winter scrapbook layouts!

I then cut the title and flourished deer out of red cardstock using these cut files and the Silhouette Cameo.  The cut files are available in the Silhouette store here.  Electronic cut files are just so versatile for scrapbooking because you can customize them so easily.  For example, I decided that I just wanted the Merry from this cut file, so I deleted the '& bright' part and resized Merry to fit the page and cut it out of red cardstock.  You might think about asking Santa for a Silhouette Cameo for Christmas.  

Here's the deer with flourished antlers cut file.  So pretty.  

I embellished the page with some scraps of patterned paper and washi tape and added a Quietfire Design Christmas stamp that brings the page together beautifully.

Season's Greetings Glittered & Wrapped

Hi there!  It's Suzanne here today with another simple card. One that looks a lot better in person!  One day I'll be able to photograph glitter, but in the meantime....

Here is a way to wrap up your greetings!  I'll tell you how.

Supplies:

A Way With Words Season's Greetings   Quietfire Site | Elizabeth Craft Designs
Silk Microfine Glitter in Copper Rose (ECD)
Clear Double Sided Adhesive
Soft Finish Cardstock in Misty Mauve and Mint Green (ECD)
Foam Tape Adhesive
Satin Dotted Ribbon - Seafoam


Instructions:

1. Form a 7 x 5" tent fold card base from Misty Mauve cardstock.
2. Cut a 5.75 x 3.75" rectangular panel from Misty Mauve and a mat 1/8" larger all around in Mint Green. Adhere these together. Cut a rectangular panel measuring 5.5 x 3.5" from white cardstock.
3. Die cut Season's Greetings from white cardstock which has double sided adhesive applied to the topside. Remove the release paper from the double sided adhesive and apply glitter.  Brush off excess and gently polish the surface of the glitter to bring out the shine.
4. Cut a piece of ribbon about 7" long and back with 3mm double sided tape. Designer Tip: Narrow 1/8" ribbon works well - even twine or jute could make an awesome variation. Center ribbon on the diecut between the words and adhere as shown.  Trim to the edge of the diecut.  Cut another piece of ribbon and create a tiny bow.  Adhere to ribbon.
5. Adhere glittered Season's Greeting diecut to white panel and attach to mauve panel with foam tape.  Adhere this to the card base and you're done!

Now you try!  Combine your ribbon and glitter and see what variations work.  Have fun!

Christmas is the day card

I adore the Christmas holidays not only for all the pretty decorations and lights that are everywhere but also because it's a special time to give handmade gifts to all our family and friends.  Today i made a special card for a friend who always sends out beautiful cards each year and i am lucky enough to be one of those that gets one.

Most of my things are inspired by all the goodies that i have in my stash so this one started with some white cardstock, some glittery red cardstock and this beautiful stamp called "Christmas is the day".

Since i used mostly white i stamped my image in red ink and used a glittery red embossing powder to match it.  I put it in the center and then cut a pretty die cut to surround it and then added that beautiful poinsettia and some roses to the bottom to make a pretty flower cluster.

My favorite part about this sentiment is all the pretty swirls around it.  And of course the pretty calligraphy that Suzanne always does when she creates each and every one of the beautiful and unique stamps that she designs.

I Will Write Peace

It’s Suzanne today with a very delicate looking card. White for purity.

I’ve wanted to letter this quote for years and it finally happened.  The author of the quote is Sadako Sasaki who was a toddler living in Hiroshima when the atomic bomb fell.  Although she and most of her family escaped, she was diagnosed with leukemia a decade later.

There is an old Japanese legend which says if you fold 1000 origami cranes, you will be granted a wish.  When Sadako learned of it, she began folding cranes.  She passed away in October 1955 at the age of 12.

Sadako’s classmates raised money to build a memorial dedicated to her and other children who were victims of the bomb.  In 1958 a statute was unveiled in the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park. It is Sadako holding a golden crane with a plaque reading:  “This is our cry.  This is our prayer. Peace in the world.”

Instructions:

1.       Fold a 7 x 5” tent fold card from white cardstock.

2.       Die cut Peace once from white cardstock and once from gray cardstock. Adhere the gray diecut behind the white diecut, slightly offset to create a dropshadow effect.

3.       Cut a rectangular panel measuring 5.5 x 3.5” from white cardstock and a mat 1/8” larger all around from gray cardstock. Adhere together.

4.       Stamp sentiment on white rectangular panel on the right as shown.

5.       Create Susan Tierney-Cockburn’s Poinsettias from white by following her video tutorial HERE and adhere to the stamped panel.

6.       Adhere the Peace diecut to the white panel.  Use foam adhesive to adhere the panel to the card front.

If Kisses were Snowflakes

Good Morning Friends.  This is Selma Stevenson today.  I have been so excited to be able to post this card.  Suzanne has 4 new Christmas stamp sets available, and this sentiment is one I requested!   I just love it.  

To create this card, I used a 6x6 white card base.  A slightly smaller Kraft Cardstock was used for the background.

Using the new Let It Snow Flourish Snowflakes stamp set, snowflakes were white embossed all over the Kraft Cardstock.  Aren't those Snowflakes beautiful!!!

Across the card front, a piece of tan design paper with brown polka dots was added. The edges of the card was sponged using brown ink.  A darker brown Dotted Swiss ribbon was attached over the edges of the design paper and a small bow added at the top.

The If Kisses were Snowflakes was stamped on a piece of Kraft Cardstock, using VersaMark then white embossed. To frame this sentiment, I used one of the Katie Label Accordion dies from Elizabeth Craft Designs.  It was die cut, and brown ink sponged around the edges and over the white embossing to help show up the stamped image.  A small black marker was used to add dots around the edge of the Label.  The Label was attached using dimensional tape.

As a finishing touch, pearls were added to the center of all the snowflakes and at each end of the label.

Hello everyone,
Yvonne here with a new card in Christmas style.
For my card I used the Quietfire Design stamp "I will write Peace".

The text is stamped using green ink, matching the used paterned papers.
The die-cuts are lifted up using 3D foam tape and the berries, rhinestones and  pearls complete te card.
Hope the card gives you some Christmas inspiration to get creative yourself!

Let It Snow, Warm Winter Wishes & Season's Greetings - Rocky Mountain Scene

Yogi here today with a Northern Sky (with artistic license...) - Rocky Mountain Scene... Since I live pretty close to them I get to see them all the time. Majestic and awe inspiring - and I'm not or ever have been a skier... c'est la vie.

I'm using a whole bunch of A Way With Words dies or parts of dies from Elizabeth Craft Designs "Let It Snow", "Warm Thoughts" 2pce set; "4 Season's - Winter" 4pce set; "Best Wishes"; "Ampersands" & "Season's Greetings" also available on Quietfire Design HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE

Also using a couple of rubber stamps from Quietfire Design ("Let It Snow" large); ("Winter Wonderland" 6pce set)


Scored, and folded my purple card (5"w x 7"h).

Created the Rocky Mountains by cutting a mask of the mountains from thin cardstock and laying it down on my white cardstock. Sponged Distress "Broken China" softly all over the sky. Then going in a streaky up and down vertical motion with the rest of the colors (Picked Raspberry", "Mustard Seed". "Seedless Preserves") then blending lightly with the blue sponge again getting a Northern Lights type of look... with artistic license...

Flipped and moved the mask down and just sponged some of the "Chipped Sapphire" along the edges lightly to create the definition between the mountains. Repeated one more layer down, then added some shadow/crevices within the mountains by using edges of my mountain mask and mainly sponging on the mask with the edge of the sponge just skimming the edge of the mask.

Die cut the "Let It Snow" from a purple cardstock, inked with Versamark and embossed with Emerald Creek "Frosted Plum" embossing powder. Adhered to card.

Stamped the "Let It Snow" and the trees (Rosewood "Snowy Trio") using Versafine Black Onyx and clear embossed.

Die cut the skies and poles from white cardstock and colored with markers and Distress pads.

On the inside: die cut the various words (Warm Winter Wishes &) from white cardstock, inked with Versamark and embossed with Emerald Creek "Soft Fallen Snow" embossing powder.

Die cut the "Season's Greetings" from a gold glitter sticky backed paper, then added a white shadow line detail.

Adhered all the words.
On the right side, stamped the house scene (Impression Obsession "J7763") using the black. Added the white details using a paint brush and my mix of Copic White Opaque ink mixed with water to a milky consistency.

Stamped the deer with the black and filed in with the white.
Stamped the snowflakes using Distress "Picket Fence" and embossed with the fallen snow.

Added the smoke from the chimney with a white colored pencil.
