Merry Christmas - Poinsettia Hexagon Merry Christmas
Yogi here today with a hexagon card filled with poinsettia... and using the "Merry Christmas" die from Elizabeth Craft Designs (also available on Quietfire Design HERE)
I had (and still have) a bunch of old encyclopedia pages a friend gave me because of the gilt edge we use for quilling... but of course after the little piece at the top of each page is used we are still left with the rest of the page, and you know we can't throw anything away...
Side folded my white card (5"w x 7"h).
Die cut the filigree part of the Poinsettia several times from white cardstock, inked with Versafine Toffee and embossed with Hot Stuff "Mirror Gold" embossing powder. Set aside.
Die cut the solid part of the Poinsettia from a stack of the encyclopedia pages. Inked some of them with Distress "Bundled Sage" for the leaf section. The rest I painted in a streaky fashion with Distress daubers "Picket Fence", when dry, painted streaky again with "Barn Door". When dry, assembled the layers adding a large yellow brad through the center. Adhered them to the card front in a diamond arrangement.
Created a triangle corner cutout to use as a template and penciled in my diagonal lines for each corner. Stamped the sentiment ("Merry Christmas Plain and Simple" 6pce set) with Versafine Black Onyx, just above the pencil lines. Cut off the corners. Inked the card edge with a Pilot Gold Leafing pen.
On the inside: I had previously made stamps from fun foam, die cut with the Poinsettia dies. Stamped the filigree part with the Toffee and embossed with the gold. Inked the solid stamp with the red, misted with water and stamped.
The cardstock used to die cut the Merry Christmas was previously made at the Paper Pastimes Pop Up as a sample using Color Burst powders on 90# cold press watercolor paper (smooth side) and sprinkled with Coarse Kosher salt and set aside to dry. Love doing that technique.
Die cut the words, inked with Versamark and embossed with UTEE.
Edges of card sponged with a dirty red sponge. Faux stitching with a Parallel Pen and Sumi ink.
