Mason Jar Lid Noel Ornament

It's Suzanne here with a little home decor project. I was itching to make an ornament with the A Way With Words diecuts using something that was handy around the house.  How about a mason jar lid as a wreath? To create this, you just have to make sure the diecut will fit in the middle and swing loosely (although you could glue a larger greeting across the front and not worry about dangling the word!).

Here is how you can make this ornament.

Supplies:
A Way With Words Noel die  Quietfire | ECD
Elizabeth Craft Designs Silk Microfine Glitter Bright Cranberry
Elizabeth Craft Designs Clear Double Sided Adhesive
Red ribbon
Gold cord
Tim Holtz idea-ology Tiny Bells
Christmas foliage
Mason jar lid - standard size
Glue Dots - Micro
thread, wire

Instructions:
  1.  Die cut two Noel from red cardstock.  One piece of cardstock should have double sided adhesive on the front and the other should have adhesive on the back.  Adhere the diecuts so they appear as a single word.  Remove the release paper from the front and back and sprinkle with red glitter. Polish the surface gently with your finger to bring out the sparkle.  Designer Tip:  If you use red cardstock for the diecut, you don't have to worry about missing any spots with glitter!
  2.  Loop about 8" of gold cord through Noel flourish.  Wrap thread around the looped cord to tighten it around the flourish. This is the hardest part of this project!  There are usually lots of flourishes on A Way With Words dies to loop a cord through, but sometimes they hang lop-sided!  A simple Glue Dot in the right place fixes that problem. Allow the diecut to hang loose and place the Glue Dot to secure the cord where so the diecut will hang straight.  Tie the gold cord around the rim of the mason jar lid so the word hangs in the middle of the ring.  Secure with a Glue Dot so it doesn't slide along the rim.
  3. Run a strip of double sided adhesive tape around the lid.  Adhere ribbon.  Create a bow.
  4. Tie gold cord around the rim of the lid to form a hanger. It's best to secure the hanger with some double sided adhesive so it doesn't slide along the rim, too. Add foliage, bow, bells and any other doodads you might like.  Sweet!
 Now make another one!
Happy creating, Suzanne
