Christmas is a Piece of Home!

Good morning!  Sherry here today and I have a card to share using one of the newer stamps, Christmas is a Piece of Home, and the new metal cutting die, Merry Christmas.

I don’t know about most of you, but I still have a huge stash of old Christmas/Holiday designer papers. In my quest to use what products I have, I dug deep and came up with a very old favorite from BasicGrey, Figgy, to use for the card.  The edges of the paper were inked with Antique Linen Distress Ink and then sewn to a cardstock base.  The sentiment was stamped in Forest Moss Distress Ink then die cut/embossed with some old retired oval die templates.  The seam binding ribbon was dyed with Forest Moss to match the sentiment.

For a change, I decided to decorate the inside of the card using the same Figgy paper.  Before die cutting the inside sentiment, a small piece of double-sided adhesive was attached to the paper so it was easy to adhere to the inside of the card.  It cut great and was easy as pie to attached the sentiment.

A Way With Words - Best Wishes!

Welcome to A Way With Words!  Each day during this event we’re sharing projects made with the brand new Elizabeth Craft Designs word dies.  All these designs are from original hand lettering by Suzanne Cannon and can be found at both Quietfire Design and Elizabeth Craft Designs.

Sherry here today and I have a card to share using the new metal cutting die, Best Wishes.

Using some Prima paper from my stash, Something Blue, the edges of coordinating paper were distressed, sponged with Antique Linen, and then sewn to a base of cream cardstock.  The words, Best Wishes, were die cut from a coordinating brown, and affixed to a layer of rectangles.

The decorative flowers are some from my stash (Prima Seashore) and the ribbon was dyed with Peacock Feathers Distress Ink to match the flowers.

HOPE is the Thing with Feathers!

Good morning!  Sherry here with you today and I have a card to share using Hope is the Thing with Feathers.

I decided to use up some more old paper from my stash (MME Lost & Found Market) by layering different scraps on top of the other and stitching them all into place.  The sentiment was stamped in Ranger Archival Potting Soil and then die cut using long rectangles.

A frame was made for the sentiment using Labels One die templates.  The flower is another from my Prima stash and the leaves were some I had already die cut from Grunge Paper, which were inked with Bundled Sage Distress Ink.  The ribbon was dyed with Bundled Sage to match.

I suppose that’s all I have today.  Thanks for stopping by and joining me!

Friendship Isn't a Big Thing!

Good morning!  Sherry here with you today and I have a card to share using the new Quietfire Design mounted stamp, Friendship Isn’t a Big Thing.

I used some Prima paper, Cigar Box Secrets, for all elements of the card, sewing the background to a base of white cardstock and building up from there.

A frame was made by gluing a coordinating paper to chipboard and then die cutting with a set of labels.  The sentiment was stamped in gray on white cover stock and then die cut with ovals.  While the paper was still in the die, the edges were sponged with Antique Linen Distress Ink.

I don’t know the color of the seam binding ribbon . . . it was in my stash jar, matched and I used it!

That’s all I have today.  Thanks for stopping in and joining me!

Good morning!  Sherry here with you today and I have a quick and easy card to share using Quietfire Design’s Follow Your Dreams.

Using various sizes and styles of circle die templates, each layer was die cut and embossed.  The sentiment was stamped in gray archival ink and the middle background was made using Color Burst.  The ribbon was also dyed with Color Burst to match the background.

Hello!

Good morning!  Sherry here today and I have a very quick and clean card to share with you.  I’ve been so taken by all the clean and simple watercolor cards I’ve been seeing on Pinterest and other social media sites.  Now typically this is SO NOT my style, but I decided to give it a try anyway.  I’m afraid I didn’t get all the white space that I’ve been seeing, but believe me . . .  I will be trying again!

The background was made my mixing up some Color Burst with water and first misting the watercolor paper with Aquamarine Blue adding just a hint of Orange.  Once that was dry, I used a flourish stencil (from a prior Quietfire hop with Dreamweaver Stencils) which was placed on the background and misted with more orange.

The sentiment “Hello” was die cut/embossed from blue paper with the new Quietfire Design Metal Cutting Die - Hello.  Hello was then affixed to the card front using a Quickie Glue Pen.  A second layer for the card with cut from the same blue paper.

You Never Know How Strong You Are!

Good morning!  Sherry here today and I have a very clean and somewhat simple card to share with you using Quietfire Design You Never Know How Strong You Are (which now comes cling mounted).

I used watercolor paper for the background, misting it with water and embossing with 3D embossing folder, Tiger Lilies.  I love the detail achieved when embossing watercolor paper when it’s damp.  When dry, the embossing holds and doesn’t flatten out if you need to trim the edges or anything.

The sentiment was stamped in gray ink and then die cut/embossed with ovals.  I used a gray cardstock along with the watercolor paper and added a sea foam grosgrain ribbon.

Twirl & Enjoy!

Good morning!  Sherry here with you today and I have a frame to share using Quietfire Design’s Twirl & Enjoy and some new Graphic 45 papers.

When I was at CHA, I was lucky enough to “score” Graphic 45’s new collection, Artisan Style, which is the paper used in today’s project.  I found an old shadowbox frame in my chipboard stash which is the base for the project.  The frame came in 4 thin pieces with an acrylic cover (which was not used).  Using double-sided tape, the frame was assembled, the edges painted black and then the paper was adhered to the top using the same tape.

For the sentiment, “do what makes you happy”, a coordinating sheet of the paper was aligned with the opening of the frame and marked around the edges.  In order to get the sentiment in the proper spacing, a stamp-a-ma-jig was used and the sentiment was stamped in black.

The flowers were made by covering grungepaper with more coordinating paper from the Artisan Style collection, and then die cutting.  The back and edges of the flowers were inked with Orange Blossom ink.  The leaves are Art Parts that were inked with Leaf Green and highlighted with squiggles.    Vintage black buttons were used for the flower centers.
