Butterfly Kisses - Connie Powell, Guest Designer

Today we have guest designer Connie Powell's lovely home décor project to share with you.

This project comes with a poignant story of a baby who never had the chance to take a breath.  Here is what Connie wrote:

This project is dedicated to Baby Evelyn aka Evie.
Her family was able to hold Baby Evelyn after her birth and I think the sentiment was perfect for them. I call this Butterfly kisses because the Butterflies are headed to Heaven and leaving her family kisses. They will always ""Remember the Moments" of the day they got to hold their beautiful daughter.

Instructions:

  1. Heat emboss one plain double light switch cover with embossing glitter
  2. Ink stamp with multiple colors onto a die cut
  3. Cut the die cut into pieces to fit light switch cover
  4. Adhere the die cut onto the switch plate cover after the heat embossing is set
  5. Stamp the switch plate cover with Quietfire Design Stamp "We do not remember days...We remember moments."

Distress & Glue - Just Because - We Do Not remember

Hi bloggers, it's Yogi here today with a fun background... Distress and glue. ROFL. Click on any image to enlarge. Enjoy

For the background: on a regular piece of white cardstock, applied "Scattered Straw" direct to paper. Then sponged "Wild Honey" & "Spiced Marmalade". With my finger I smeared some glue here and there and set aside to dry. (all the yellowy splotches in the image at right are where the glue was applied). After the glue dried, I sponged "Salty Ocean" all over. Trimmed it down to fit card front leaving a scant 1/16" border all around.

Side folded my cream toned card to make a 5"w x 7"h card. Adhered my background. Stamped my bird (Old Island) and the Water Lily border (Beeswax) using Versafine Black Onyx. Stamped both these images again on some scrap white cardstock. The flower border with the black, the bird - coloring the stamp with Distress markers, misting with water and then stamping. Cut both out around the solid portion of the images. On the bird I also added some flicks of Wink of Stella brush to add some glitter. Adhered the bird to the card on top of the stamped image on the background. Adhered the flower border using 3D foam tape, also on top of the previously stamped image. Stamped the sentiment (10 Tiny Tag Sentiments) with the black and clear embossed.

Die cut some foliage (Memory Box "Leafy Branch" & Marianne Design) from scraps of decorated cardstock.

On the inside stamped the quote (We Do Not Remember...) with the black. Used some post it notes as a mask and stamped the birds (Old Island) with the black.

Hope you give the technique a try,  it has such possibilities... Have a great day

We do not remember days Wall Hanging

Hi Y'all, Monica here today. I love the saying used in this wall hanging, "We do not remember days, We remember moments." Words close to my heart.
My husband often works jobs at the coast or close enough for easy visits; meanwhile I'm here at home in the mountains. We've been saying for years we need to take a vacation to the beach. In July David got a job close to home and a couple of weeks later he called me on Friday at lunch and said "Let's just stop trying to plan a trip and just go." So we made a quick trip to Tybee Island, Savannah, GA. The picture used in this wall hanging was taken after dinner Saturday evening. There was a thunderstorm inland that was creating some beautiful colors in the sunset. Right after this shot was taken there were two rainbows visible in one area and another further off to the right. Beautiful memory of that moment.

The saying was cut apart and stamped on pieces of vellum with Brilliance Graphite Black ink. I used Spellbinders Resplendent Rectangles and Grand Labels Four to cut the layers. Cardstock is Bazzill Bling, medium and dark blue.  The sheen of the cardstock makes getting a good picture beyond my capabilities. Trust me, the colors are much deeper and prettier than this picture shows.  The shells were attached with stacked pop-dots.

The shell necklace is a treasure from our past, a trinket David bought me at a boardwalk fair at Balboa Island, Newport, CA, shortly after we met in 1976. Moments! It took some digging to find this but I think it really ties things together. Goodness, has it really been 36 years?!!

Thanks for looking.
Hugs, Monica

We Do Not Remember Days - Card

Hi there!  It's Suzanne here with another quickie card I created. I've been wanting to use the pearl flourish with the heart for a while and I finally found a good opportunity.  I hope you like it!

Reagents (with links):

Kaisercraft Sweet Nothings paper pad
Archival Sepia Ink
Best Glue Ever - for securing the flowers - sticky! very sticky!
Heart Flourish Self-Adhesive Pearls from Zva
Pearls
I used Distress Old Paper for the shading.
The tiny flowers are from the Spellbinders Whimsy set (link below with photo) and I touched up the tips with Gesso and a small brush.  The little curliques beside the flowers were made with the "negative" part of the flower after it is die cut.
The other items are below:
