WE CANNOT TELL- BUTTERFLIES- CARD

Hi Everyone! This is Holly and I'm excited today, to bring you a little tutorial with big potential. It is called Crumpled Resist and it's done exactly as the name implies.
I began by clear embossing on white card stock, using Versamark ink, clear embossing powder ,and the butterflies from the Butterflies/Dragonflies stamp set. Once it cooled, I crumpled the card stock, going slowly to avoid tearing it too much, although some small tears add to the distressed look. I crumpled and smoothed it out several times to get enough cracks and creases in the card stock and the embossing.

Next comes the colour.

I used Distress Inks and sponges, after spritzing with water. After several minutes, it dried a bit so I spritzed with water again and sponged on more ink. I used a tissue to blot up any ink left on the embossed areas and gently dried the piece with a heat tool. By gently dried, I mean holding the heat tool at a distance as overheating the embossing can cause it to soak in and lose it's sheen.
I added a bit of splatter by pressing the distress ink pad onto an acrylic block, adding a couple drops of water and picking it up with a paintbrush, then splattering.

Then I trimmed and attached the piece to a green card stock layer and finished assembling the card. This card needs a flower or ribbon (maybe both) but I wanted to leave the technique area clear for viewing.

The design paper strip across the bottom is from Prima Melody paper pad and has a banner die-cut from Shapeabilities Ribbon Banners LG. "You are my friend" comes from We Cannot Tell stamp set, having the last line on the front of the card and the bulk of the verse on the inside. A little strip of fancy lattice across the top completes this card.

This technique works with other types of dye inks as well, so you can play using what you have right now. I hope you try it, add your own flair and leave us a note in the comments so we can come and see it. Any questions, please don't hesitate to ask me.

Thank you for coming by and Happy February!

Beautiful card! :-) Looks like a fun technique, so I'll give it a try! Thanks for the inspiration. Also, I like that you illustrated the text with photos from the different steps. Made it very easy to understand what to do :-)
