Dreamweaver-Quietfire Awesome In Autumn Day #3

Welcome!  Thank you for joining us for Day #3!

Are you enjoying Awesome in Autumn? This week we are partnering with the Dreamweaver Design Team and are so excited to play with their innovative stencils, pastes and glitters!  Follow along with us and leave your comments on each blog for an opportunity to win one of two wonderful prize packages.

Here's what we've created for today's post:

When I selected the Umbrella Background, I really wasn't quite sure what I was going to do with it, but it just called to me.  (Yogi confesses she was tempted by it, too!)
So here is what ultimately happened.  Often when I'm packing orders for customers, I get an urge to use a particular stamp that I've just handled. That's what happened here!

So thinking fall, I resisted a sea of colourful umbrellas and went with this look.

I tried using black embossing paste for the non-glowing umbrellas, but I found it very difficult to mask them and add two different coloured embossing pastes.  I'm sure the Dreamweaver team would have had some suggestions, but I kinda ran out of time because I was working on tomorrow's projects!  So I embossed in just regular original-flavoured embossing paste.

To colour the dark umbrellas, I first used VersaMagic Night Sky shading with a stencil brush, then added Midnight Black.  The beautiful soul umbrellas were first coloured with Thatched Straw, then Mango Madness, Pumpkin Spice, Red Brick, and lastly Red Magic.

As well as the Umbrella Background, I made good use of the Picasso to mask the areas while I was applying colour.

I tried a bunch of different Spellbinder dies and liked good old Labels 1 best.  I used the regular and Labels 1 Small.

Here are the thumbnail links to the products I used that are on the Quietfire Design website - of course all the stenciling products are available for purchase at Stencil With Style.  Thanks for looking.  Don't forget to leave a comment for a chance to win a prize!

Absolutely love this card. It is amazing what one can do with a stencil... now I am hooked on using them. Thanks Suzanne for highlighting them and how they can be used.

love the card and those umbrellas are gorgeous. Have to get that stencil...

My take would have been to do whatever you wanted in black first masking the stencil where you didn't want the black to go.
Allow that to dry and then mask the opposite areas on the stencil for the next color, place stencil down, matching up previous stenciling and apply 2nd color.
Have a great day

My goodness. I just love how the umbrella's glow. This is just stunning. I need that stencil - what with all the rain we get here in Vancouver.

This is a stunning card...I just got back from the UK last night and they loved this stencil...they would have doubly loved your sentiment. I would love to send this idea to them if I may. Thanks for the wonderful inspiration!
