Here is my project:

I've been sending out so many "hugs" in the mail lately!  These dies
are the perfect way to do that.
First I gathered my papers and the Sending Hugs Kisses Die Set:

I die cut the "Sending" and "Hugs" twice out of the same yellow card stock that I
was planning to use for my base.  I adhered them together so there was a double
layer on the words...just giving them a bit more sturdiness.  I used a scalloped
rectange die to cut my flower pattern paper.

I cut my pieces and rounded the corners on the yellow card base and the
blue layering paper.

You'll find that these word dies are the perfect size for an A2 card!

I adhered my blue layering paper and my patterned paper to the card base.  Then
I adhered the words using a liquid glue.

I wanted a bit of shimmer so I used a yellow shimmer pen on the words after they
were adhered to the card.  I've tried to capture it here:

So hard to capture shimmer in a photo!  As a final embellishment, I added some
flower sequins, tiny leaf embellishments and a tiny bluebird!

I hope you enjoyed today's project using the Sending Hugs Kisses die set #1304

Please join us in this Quietfire Summer Blog Hop and give yourself a
chance to win!!!

Thank you so much for stopping by today!

Sending Smiles and Hugs with new Modern Gilding Powders

Hi, there!  I'm still on my task of making cards to brighten people's day during this social distancing time so I picked sentiments that would be appropriate.  I also received the new Modern Gilding Powders so I wanted to test those out.   To do that, I die cut a bunch of butterflies from the Butterfly Flourish set and gilded all of them with both the old and new colors of Modern Gilding Powders.

Aren't they just so pretty like that?  I am absolutely smitten with the Celtic Mint, Armenian Pink and Forever Platinum.  Since I made all those, I decided to use them on some cards and I came up with a couple.

For this first one, I used the butterfly die cuts as a stencil - just put a bit of removable adhesive to hold the butterfly still.  I started with the colors below but then sponged over the blue with a green so that I could used similar colors of MPG butterflies.

The Sending Smiles was cut out of purple card stock and the butterflies are Celtic Green, Dilly Dilly Lavender, and Armenian Pink.  Such a light and happy card.

For my second card, I used the Butterflies Spray Stencil with different shades of green and blue inks.  If you don't have the stencil, you can used the die to make your own stencil - works just as well!  The card below features Forever Platinum, Burnished Silver and the Sending Hugs is Acanthus Teal which showed up darker than the one in my picture above - different lighting on different days.

On the picture above, you can see the subtle difference between the Forever Platinum and Burnished Silver - both gorgeous!

Sending Hugs

Hello Quietfire fans!  Betsy on the blog today with this beautiful rose gold card.  What
a beautiful way to send someone a paper hug!

I used
Quietfire  Design - Sending Hugs & Kisses #1304

This is such a beautiful die set.  To begin, I die cut one "Sending" and one "Hugs"
of some rose gold foil paper.   Then I cut each word again twice out of some
heavyweight white card stock.  Next, I adhered these together.

I cut this many for several reasons.  For the "sending" I did it for the stability.  And for
the "Hugs" I did it for added height.
For my card base I used a white A2 size side folding card base using the fold on top.
I made another score line on the front at 2 1/8".  I covered the front with 2 panels
of patterned paper cut to 2" x 5 3/8" each.  I adhered these to the front leaving
the fold line with nothing adhered to it.  On the bottom I placed a 1/8" strip
of the rose gold paper.
On the inside I adhered a panel of patterned paper that was 4" x 5 3/8".
On the front I added my die cut stacked "Sending" placing the glue on the
bottom half of it and adhering it to the lower panel.  I added a crepe bow
and some paper flowers.

On the inside I adhered the "Hugs" and made sure it was in the proper place
to act as a stopper for the front of the card.

And that finished my project!  Not hard to do but so elegant!

Sending Hugs (and a little punch!)

My friend Judi Kauffman shared a trio of cards she made with new A Way With Words dies ('Sending' and 'Hugs' from the set that also includes the word 'Kisses'). She said that she wanted to use one of her OLDEST tools - a floral border punch that she's had for a decade or so, along with her NEWEST - the dies. Such a nice combo!

I like how she used the border as a stencil on two of the cards and how she incorporated Washi tape on one, too. Thanks for sending them, Judi.

Sending You Hugs & Kisses

Yogi here today with another Valentines card (or could be for a birthday or in my thoughts type card...) using the newest dies. Loving them

Another, batch of fantastic calligraphed die cut words by signature designer Suzanne Cannon available on Elizabeth Craft Designs A Way With Words "You", "Sending Hugs, Kisses" and "Calligraphic Elements 2 - Ampersand" all available on Quietfire Design HERE, HERE and HERE

Scored, and folded my burgundy card. (7"h x 5"w)

Raided my end cut cardstock stash and created the weave block. Trimmed to size and adhered to front on an angle. Trimmed excess away.

Created a shadow layer for my words - one way of doing it is by turning the dies down and tracing around the exterior of the die with an x-acto blade, being careful to not cut where the words link together. OR create images to cut with your electronic cutter and use the shadow layer function, welding everything together prior cutting. I cut mine from white cardstock and while still on the mat, painted with Distress dabbers "Aged Mahogany".

Die cut the words from white cardstock, inked with Versamark and embossed with Emerald Creek "Iridescent Shimmer" embossing powder. Adhered to my shadow layer, then onto my card front.

As a final touch stamped the hearts using Versafine "Satin Red".
