No Act of Kindness...

Hello Quietfire fans!  Betsy on the blog today sharing how I made this beautiful
simple card using:

I chose my papers to match the Celtic Mint Modern Gilding Powders.  I started by
taking an A2 size white top folding card base and adhering a piece of the aqua wash
paper to it.  That piece measures 4" x 5 1/4".  Next I took my patterned piece of
paper and die cut 2 different sizes in my die set.  The stamped quote fit perfectly
on the smaller one.  Then I heat embossed the quote with the Celtic Mint Modern Gilding
Powders and stamped it onto the smaller of the 2 patterned pieces I had die cut.

The soft shade of the Celtic Mint Modern Gilding Powders went so well with
the patterned paper.  I adhered the larger die cut piece to my card first.  Then
I adhered the embossed piece and popped it up on a piece of fun foam.
I added a double crepe bow and a few gold rimmed pearls.
And that finished my card!

I hope you enjoyed today's tutorial.  Quick, easy and elegant!

Framed - No Act of Kindness, However Small, Is Ever Wasted

Hello!!  It's Wanda here today to share a home decor piece using an up-cycled frame and the wonderful Quietfire Design stamp, No Act of Kindness.  I've not done too much to this project but am letting the quote completely be the focus.

I don't remember just where I got this frame.  It could have been an auction, thrift store, garage sale, or even an antique store.  There are actually 2 frames but I'm just using one today.  They both have a thick piece of board that fit in from the back and the back of the board is covered in felt.  There were little stickers on the back that said "Made in Italy".  Cool, huh.

I, of course, needed to create a background :-)  I chose to use Ranger Alcohol Inks and White Yupo Paper.  I applied 3 colors of ink to the paper using felt and then also sprinkled on some extra drops of ink.

I had a piece of plastic wrap waiting, lightly sprayed my inked paper with 90% rubbing alcohol and immediately put the plastic wrap over the paper being sure to create lots of wrinkles.

Here you see the three colors I used - Peach Bellini, Lemonade, and Pink Sherbet.  These are all Lights as I wanted a muted background.

The hard part is waiting for the inks to dry completely before removing the plastic wrap.  A beautiful background that looks like it has lots of texture.

A stamp platform works great allowing you stamp a few times for a nice dark image over the inks.  I used Ranger's Archival Ink Jet Black for stamping.  Once stamped and dried I set the frame over the paper, used a clear ruler with grid lines to make sure the quote was straight in the frame, used a pencil to trace the shape and cut the paper.

I could have left the frame as is, it did look good, but decided to alter it.  I brushed on white paint (PaperArtsy Fresco Finish Chalk Paint, color Snowflake), allowed it to dry a bit and wiped it back using a baby wipe.

The picture at the top of this post is taken in a light tent against white.  Here is a picture with it sitting on black cardstock taken in the tent.

I thought I'd take it around the house and try a few walls.  I couldn't get the wall color to look right in this picture.  The paint is called Mesa Sand (Valspar) and has a more of a light earthy orange tint to it.

This wall is a warm white with a red glaze over it.

And here's what it would like added to a grouping in that room.

And here it is on an orange wall.

I haven't decided just where it will go.  What do you think?

I hope you've enjoyed today's easy project!!!  Have a good week!!

Hugs, Wanda

Butterfly Kindness

Hello Crafty Friends!

Kathy Jo fluttering in today to share a card that is perfect for a thank you card or a card to show your appreciation for friendship or someone's continuous kindness.  The card was created using Quietfire Design stamp sets No Act of Kindness
No Act of Kindness - Mounted
and Butterflies/Dragonflies.
Butterflies/Dragonflies set of 7 stamps
Also used was the beautiful die, Flourished Oval Frame
Flourished Oval Frame - Metal Cutting Die
Card Instructions:

  1. Create a top fold 5" x 5" card using green card stock.  Mat a piece of yellow card stock on the card base.
  2. Cut a piece of white card stock smaller than the yellow mat (listed in step 1).
  3. Stamp butterflies using green and blue ink.  Spritz with shimmer mist spray.  Dry.  Adhere to card front.
  4. Die cut using Oval Frame die.  Flip die cut over.  (You will be using the back side of the die cut.)  Stamp quote onto center using black archival ink.
  5. Apply yellow ink to the flourished end of the oval frame.  Apply blue ink to the opposite end of the oval frame.  Overlap blue onto a small area of the yellow to create green.
  6. Adhere frame to card using liquid adhesive.
  7. Adhere quote to card front using double sided foam adhesive.
  8. Cut two pieces of white card stock to mat the inside of the card.  Stamp butterflies and apply shimmer spray as desired.
Although I used blue, green and yellow colors for the card, I think it would also look pretty in red, orange and yellow.

Thank you for stopping by!  Have a happy, crafty day!

No Act of Kindness Card

Hi Everyone it's Teresa here today to share a fun easel card that i did with one
of my favorite stamps called No Act of Kindness.

I just finished teaching a class with lots of easel styles so i had to do another
for my post today.  I love making shaped cards so that the person receiving the
card can actually set it up somewhere to enjoy it for longer.

For my card i used a Teresa Collins 6x6 paper pad and created a simple
folded easel for the front to put the sentiment on.  I used Spellbinders
Labels 41 die set and cut layers of papers and glued them on with 3D Foam dots.
The sentiment i stamped in Versafine Vintage Sepia ink and embossed it with
clear embossing powder.  And to finish it i added 2 layers of ribbon and a few
pretty WOC flowers from my stash.

That's it for today so thanks for stopping over and hope you like
my new card and the beautiful stamp i used.

Exquisite Card Set by Nina Brackett - Guest Designer

We are delighted to have designer Nina Brackett as our guest designer this month and I think you can instantly see why!  To learn a bit more about Nina, read all the way to the bottom of this blog post.

I am thrilled to be guest designing for Quietfire Design this month. I love their exquisitely lettered sentiments that come in many sizes. I have a set of three cards to show you today. They all follow the same layout and together make a nice card set to give away as a gift. I do this a lot and the Quietfire Design sentiment stamps are just the perfect focal point in each card.

For all three, I first stamped the big Penny Black Awakening stamp in aqua, melon and light pink. I then heat embossed with white the lace stamp on the bottom and leaves stamp on the top. Starting from the corners, I then inked Distress inks (Brushed Corduroy and Antique Linen) to show the white embossed images. I made sure there's enough room on my panel to stamp my sentiments. I then framed that panel with kraft cardstock before I mounted it with foam squares on card bases with coordinating colors. I embellished them with matching buttons and seam bindings with a small Want2Scrap pearl in the center. My first card uses QFD's gorgeous Thinking of You stamp with Versafine Vintage Sepia ink to make sure it stands out.

This pink card is stamped with No Act of Kindness stamp. I just love that sentiment.

Finally, this card uses All Our Best Wishes stamp.

Thank you for joining me today and I hope you were inspired to create card sets with Quietfire Design's stamps.

 A little bit about Nina:

Hi, my name is Nina. I'm a Filipino-American who now lives (and crafts in Croatia), thus my blog is called Crafting in Croatia. I was educated as a Biologist, but found my love for art through paper crafting, which was mainly influenced by my mom. When my husband and I were getting ready to move to Croatia, a thoughtful friend gave me a big box full of Stampin' Up supplies. It took one very cold winter and homesickness for me to start playing with those supplies and I haven't stopped!

I joined the paper crafting industry when I released my first stamp set in 2009. I have worked with several companies as a product designer including Penny Black Inc, Want2Scrap and Spellbinders. One of the biggest blessings of my "job" as a paper crafter is being able to share my love for it with the ladies here, where it's still a novelty. My very creative daughters are my biggest fans and enjoy playing with mommy in her craft room.
