Ribbon Panel Cards

Hi there!  It's just Suzanne popping to share a little bit of information from this week's Facebook Live broadcast.

This week I shared a technique showing a way to incorporate your ribbon stash into your cards that doesn't involve bow-making!  It can be bright or subdued and works really well with the A Way With Words diecuts.

What supplies do you need?

 Congratulations

Always & Forever

Hi there, Artlings!  It’s Suzanne here today with a simple, elegant version of Always & Forever.  You can see this card with instructions over on the Elizabeth Craft Designs blog today.
This is perfect for a guy for Valentine’s Day, but by changing the colour of the gently sponged ink, you can pink it right up!  By adding dimension to each layer, the result is a super special card for a super special person. Wouldn’t this make a stunning wedding or anniversary card?
This card is so simple to make. It took me longer to photograph it than to make it.  And the photo really doesn’t do it justice!

Forever Scrapbook Layout with Calligraphic Hearts

Hello, Connie Nichol here with a romantic layout just in time for Valentine's Day.  I came across this photograph of my parents from about 28 years ago - they look so young and so happy - and I couldn't wait to scrapbook it.

I used two different sets of  the Way with Words dies designed by Suzanne Cannon and manufactured by Elizabeth Craft Designs.  My parents got married in 1960, so this year they will have been married 58 years.  'Forever' seemed like the perfect page title.  Fifty eight years is practically forever, at least to me.  They've been together for way more years than they were apart.

I used the heart dies from Calligraphic Elements 3 to add some more texture and embellishments to the page.  Since I cut the hearts out of cardstock that was a similar colour to the background paper, it gives a soft and subtle effect.  This set of calligraphic elements is so handy for adding those extra touches to a project.

Be sure to celebrate your 'forever' love this Valentine's Day and capture the moment in time in a photograph.  Happy scrapbooking, Connie

January Designer Challenge - Elizabeth Craft Designs

The Elizabeth Craft Designs Designer Challenge for January is "You Fill My Heart", just in time for Valentine's Day!

I wanted to use this simple thought which says it all....  You're never getting rid of me!  ;-)   I chose delicate colours, I even used the same paper to cut Forever that I used on the background.  A black diecut used as a dropshadow made all the difference!

For today's challenge, Elizabeth Craft Designs will be giving away Gift Card to use on their website to 3 lucky winners.  To enter, simply leave a comment on the Elizabeth Craft Designs Challenge Blog Post!  Good luck!

Here is how you can make this card.  It's so simple. Choosing the paper is fun!

Instructions:
1.       Form a 6 x 7” side fold card base from pink cardstock.  Cut a green panel measuring 4.75 x 5.5” and a white mat that is about 1/8” larger.  Adhere panels together with Clear Double Sided Adhesive.  Adhere the panels to the card base with foam squares to give some dimension.
2.       Die cut Believe from white cardstock, Forever from green cardstock and the flourished heart from pink cardstock.  Die cut all three dies from black cardstock as well.
3.       Layer the words together so the black diecut is slightly offset.  Designer tip: make sure each of the black diecuts is offset the same way (distance offset and direction of offset) in each pair of diecuts!  You don’t have to use lots of Glue Dots, just a few placed in the widest parts of the letters.
4.       Use Glue Dots to adhere Believe and Forever to the green panel as shown.  Cut small pieces of the Kool Tak Clear Foam to raise up the heart as shown so it appears to float above.  Voila! You’re done!
5.       Give the card to someone you love!

This would make an wonderful wedding card when done in white!

Thanks for dropping by for a peak.  Don’t forget to hop over to the Elizabeth Craft Designs blog to be eligible for their giveaway!

Always and Forever

This week at Quietfire Design we are celebrating a marriage of one of our own team members.  Since we're spread out all over the globe, we're with her on-line all week.  Congratulations,  Yvonne van de Grijp!  We hope you have a wonderful day and an even better "happily ever after" always and forever.  (And we can't wait to see pictures!)

Yvonne has given us an idea of what her elegant and gorgeous wedding is going to be like so when I made this card, I kept the colors white and grey.  I die cut out the Always & Forever out of white shimmer card stock and grey card stock.  The hydrangeas and curvy leaves by Elizabeth Craft Designs were also cut out of the same shimmery card stock though I did add a touch of grey and green with my lightest Copic markers.

The Always & Forever die cuts were glued together with a slight offset for a shadow effect and the hydrangeas were clumped together to look like wisteria.

Thank you so much for looking and I hope you join me in sending beautiful thoughts and wishes Yvonne's way!
