Quietfire Quick Fx Stencil blog hop - Out of this world DAD

Have you been enjoying the different ways stencils have been used during this week's Quietfire Design Blog Hop?  I hope you've been inspired and have broken out the stencils.  I admit that it is not my go-to technique but I need to play with all my toys, right?

Instead of the usual inking up or texture paste with the stencils, this card utilizes embossing.  I taped the stars stencil to a white background and used Versamark ink to create my starry streak.  After removing the stencil, I clear embossed the stars and repeated the process again since my card shown here is 5"x7".  I then created a night background by inking very heavily with blues and purples Distress Inks.  Short explanation: I used my stencils like stamps!

The DAD is a new "Fill 'er Up" capital letter from Quietfire Design  I embossed in black on watercolor paper and used the blue, purple, and black Twinkling H2O to fill in the caps for a galaxy look..

I die cut each of the letters out, matted in black and popped up the letters in front of my galaxy background.  I added smaller stars using a white gel pen.  I hope you continue to be inspired by all the stenciling projects this week!

I love it! I'm afraid I don't use my stencils near enough - hopefully, following this blog hop, I will be more inspired to do so, tfs. :)

Twinkling H2Os! What a great reminder that everything old can be new again, Diana. This card is nothing short of brilliant-- brilliant color, brilliant layout, brilliant use of that brilliant stencil! A dazzling card that has so much to say for itself. A definite creative motivation.

Wow! You make those letters pop off the page even before you die cut them! What dad wouldn't love to open that - any day! I love the Twinkling H20s - so often they are used as pastels it's great to see them BOLD! Thank you.

Great use of the stencils. Sometimes simpler is better. But then the way you did the background and filled the letters is so rich and complex looking. Reminded me to use my Twinkling H2Os more! Amazing Father's Day card.
