Quietfire Quick Fx Stencil Blog Hop- Sunshine & Puppies Mixed Media

Hello Crafty Friends and welcome to day 6 of the Quietfire Quick Fx Stencil Blog Hop!
Kathy Jo here sharing today and for my project I am using several Quietfire Design products:
Hearts and Paw Prints Sprays - Stencil
Wishing You Whimsy, set of 4 - Mounted
Parsley Sage Rosemary and Thyme - Set of 8 Stamps
Illuminations 1 - Set of 4 Stamps
Recently I purchased 7 Gypsies' mixed media 12x12 book.  It is a perfect mixed media book for me to play with Quietfire products.  (I look forward to going through this again when it is all complete.  It will be a great history of QF products and wonderful memories of crafty times!)

The first play time in the book used the above Quietfire Design products.  Oh!  What a fun time I had!  I started with the paw print spray stencil and Distress Inks (Festive Berries, Spiced Marmalade, Mustard Seed, Broken China and Wilted Violet).  A helpful tip: start with the yellow in the center and work your way out.  Doing so ensures your rainbow has all the colors equally.
The prints were outlined in black ink for pop!  A small drop of glitter was placed in the center of each print.
Next I applied Broken China and Tumbled Glass all over the background.  White acrylic paint was used to create clouds and the sun's aura.  Squeezed Lemonade was applied to create the sun and then Sunshine & Puppies was stamped using Jet Black Archival Ink.
"Wishing You" was stamped, heat dried and a frame hand drawn.  Clear Distress Crackle was applied and I hand drew wee chains to hang the sign.
This lovely scene needed green!  Quietfire Design stamps (shown above) were used with several green inks to create a lively green border.  The red dots (Nuvo Drops in Red Berry) were added to give the appearance of wee red flowers.
At this point in the project my hands were covered in inky fun!
The scene reminded me of the best summer day.  Definitely a sweet day full of sunshine and puppies.  :)
Another view of the final project.

This is such a beautiful, peaceful piece of art. What a great idea to do it in a mixed-media book so you can enjoy it again and again.

Pretty mixed media piece! I love the pawprints and sentiment. Makes me think of my friend Jennifer, who is very eagerly awaiting her new Golden Retriever puppy in July. I love the stamps you used around the edges!

I love the paw prints. your really outdid yourself. did you outline each print in black? is there a shortcut I missed? all of the texture and layers are wonderful and great to give a little shine to the inside of each print.

Hi Christi! Here was the step: The prints were outlined in black ink for pop! A small drop of glitter was placed in the center of each print.
It is easiest to keep the stencil on and trace the paws. :)
Thank you for the comment! Have a great day!

This is fantastic.
I love the paw prints.
The red dots on the
"grass" for flowers is
a great. Like the drop
of glitter on the paws.
Makes me homesick for
little Bear - she passed
last summer.
thanks for sharing.

I love your sky! I also love that you repurposed your herb stamps into grass and flowers! All your extra work on the pawprints make them really stand out.

What inspiration you have given me...My "best four legged friend", Dougal ( a big red bearded Airedale) passed away last Thursday and I have been wanting to do a tribute to him for my wall. I adore your Mixed Media with paw prints and all the greenery and all the colours and would love to do a version of this piece. It is so fetching ( pardon the pun), appealing and captivating. Thank you for giving me a place to start.... Going to order some of those stamps ( I have the Stencil)

I am so sorry to hear about Dougal. My heart goes out to you, Deborah.

A tribute to him on your wall is such a sweet idea. Please feel free to send me a photo of your finished tribute. I would love to see it.

Take care,

Kathy Jo, wonderful suggestion to use the stencil to draw the outlines of each little paw. Geesh, it's so easy to forget the basics, sometimes-- that's what I did with stencils when I was a kid! Demonstrating this wonderful composite of of techniques with the simplicity of the stencil's outlines has absolutely created a masterpiece! Thank you for showing how stunning these combinations can be.

Oh I can imagine what a fun time you had it totally shines through. I keep thinking of your Teddy and what a great keepsake album this would make with photos of him growing up. :)

What a wonderful work of art! And thank you for the instructions - especially to start in the middle when you want something to fade either from one color to another as in the rainbow - or even from light to dark! This is an amazing piece with so much depth - yet fun at the same time. Thank you.
