If I Had A Star - Sheri Holt, Guest Designer

I am happy to be at Quietfire today sharing a card that was really a happy accident. Let me explain....

I recently received Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks and couldn't wait to play around with them. I just picked some pretty colors that I thought went together and started blending the colors on different types of scrap papers. 

After covering the scraps and blending together, I started spritzing them with water and sat back to watch the magic happen. They were TOO PRETTY to waste so I cut my practice pieces to size and added the strip to a 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" purple card base to match.

I stamped the sentiment from IfI Had A Star in black ink and simply added some tiny star confetti glitter.

I just hate to waste scraps! Adding a beautiful sentiment like this one is such a great way to turn your scraps into a special gesture for someone. And perfect for mailing.

Find the Magic and sneak peak of New die

Hello, there!  I've got a monochromatic card to share with you today.  I've been dabbling in watercolors and was trying to paint leaves.  And after I was done, I decided that although my leaves still need a lot of work, that practice sheet would make a great background.  So I trimmed it down, sponged the edges and added a quote on top of it.

Working with vellum can be tricky.  I clear embossed this sentiment in white on green floral vellum by waiting for the heating tool to heat up before bringing it close.  Don't let your heating tool get too close - it will warp the vellum.  To adhere the vellum to the card, I glued it onto a white frame (made by nestling rectangle dies) and popped it up on top of the back ground with foam tape.  I found it make it easier to read.

I also added a double Magic die cut (new and coming soon!) to the corner of the frame.

Happy Birthday with New Elizabeth Craft dies

It's almost the beginning of my favorite season here in California and today i am sharing a new card with the new dies designed by Suzanne Cannon for Elizabeth Craft.  I used 2 dies for my card, one is the new smaller version of Happy Birthday that i just love and the other is that super adorable frame that you can make to go around it.  I used super basic papers and cut the dies from ivory and kraft cardstock and then added pretty fall flowers on the side to set the mood.  

And the dies cut like butter so you can make a whole set of these to give in different papers for gifts.

Yvonne here sharing a card using the gorgeous Quietfire Design stamps!
Today a card with two stamping techiques.

* First the (embossing powder) background:
Stamp Quietfire Design "Leafy Acanthus Background" on blue cardstock using Versamark ink.
Then sprinkle white embossing powder over the stamped image.
The embossing powder will stick to the versamark ink.
Carfully tap on the back of the paper to remove the excess powder and if needed use a fine brush.
Heat the image with a heatgun and the embossing powder will melt.
Let the image cool down.
Then use some brown distress ink and an inkblending to to slightly colour the image.
Wipe the excess using some kitchen paper or an almost dry baby wipe.
The brown ink will not stick to the distress ink.

Die cut the image and glue upon gold pearl cardstock. mat upon a white card base.

* The second (simple) stamping:
The Quietfire sentiment Miss you was stamped onto the gold pearl paper using back ink.

Mat the sentiment upon white cardstock and glue onto the cardbase using 3D foam squares.

Finish the card with a satin bow.

Materials used:

• Quietfire Design stamp: Leafy Acanthus Background #6061
• Quietfire Design stampset: In a Perfect World # 5999 (set of 4 stamps) 
• Cardstock: white, gold pearl, blue
• Brown distress inkpad, black inkpad, acrylic stamp block, versamark inkpad,
• paper trimmer, scissors, glue, 3D foam squares, satin ribbon, die-template set

Fancy Fold "Birthday/Follow Your Dreams" card

Hello Crafty Friends!  Kathy Jo here today sharing a fancy fold card using Quietfire Designs' Happy Birthday:

This card style is one of my favorite fancy folds and is a very elegant way to show the beauty of Quietfire Design stamps.  The card base is surprisingly simple to make: 

• Cut a piece of card stock to 5.25" by 12".  
• Score at 2" and 10".  
• Flip over and score at 4" and 8".  
• Fold.  Your folded card should look like this:

• Determine how you want your card front to look:  
  
• For the card front background, cut two pieces of the patterned paper to just smaller than 2" x 5.25".  Next, mount the focal point of the card front.  In this example, I mounted the Happy Birthday sentiment on a coordinating die cut doily.  
  
• Please note that when mounting, you only adhere the doily to one half of the card front.  Do not apply adhesive to the entire doily back.
  
• After completing the card front, it is time to make the inside beautiful.  Stamp the Follow Your Dreams onto coordinating paper and cut to size.  Apply strip of patterned paper vertically as shown.  Mount to inside of card.
  

The fancy fold card is now complete and ready to give to a special friend or family member to cherish.

Die Cuts on a Gel Plate; All Hearts Come Home For Christmas; Calligraphic Elements 1

Hi There!!!  It's Wanda here today with a Christmas card to share.

I hadn't had my gel plate out in awhile and could hear it calling my name, lol.  Besides it gives us another wonderful way to use die cuts!!  I had already decided I was going to use the new QF stamp, All Hearts Come Home, and that helped me choose a die cut (Calligraphic Elements 1 heart)  to use as a mask in printing.  

I brayered the 6" x 6" plate with green paints.

Fancy Frame Fairy Mixed Media card

 Hello Crafty Friends!  Kathy Jo here sharing fancy fold frame style card using Quietfire Design's newly released stamp set, A Rustle in the Wind:

The card creation process was full of inky fun!  I sprayed several Dylusions Ink Sprays on mixed media paper.  After drying I picked out a section of the paper that reminded me of a mystical night sky.  After cutting it to size, the quote was stamped onto the paper using Jet Black Archival Ink.  Next, Nuvo Crystal Drops were added to give the appearance of stars or other heavenly bodies.

The fairy was stamped onto the mixed media paper and fussy cut.  A triple bow using Sorbet Sari ribbon was created and the fairy was adhered.  Nuvo Crystal Drops were added to the wings.

The image and bow were mounted onto the die cut card base.  More Nuvo Crystal Drops were used on the frame.

Oh- what a fabulous stamp set!  The stamp set pairs perfectly with the other newly released stamp set, Nothing Can Be Truer:

So happy!  Love the gliding fairy...beautiful!

A Rustle in the Wind Card - with a woven paper strip background

Hi there, Connie Nichol here today with a quick card featuring one of the new stamps at Quietfire Design, A Rustle in the Wind.  I was feeling very purple this past week.

I couldn't find a lot of purple ink in my stash so I stamped with a Tim Holtz distress ink and used Elizabeth Craft Design stitched circle dies to cut the circles.

For a background, I had lots of patterned paper leftovers, so decided to weave various strips together. This is easiest if you use a removable adhesive to tack down the ends of strips on one side directly on your work surface, then just run paper strips the other way over and under, over and under.  Trim to the appropriate size and tuck under your die cut circles.  It's a fun way to use up paper scraps.  

Here's the new stamp set.  It comes with four beautiful stamps.  I also stamped the fairy and cut her out to use as an extra embellishment tucked into the paper flowers.

Beautiful Snowflakes

Welcome Quietfire friends to our blog today... this week and for the month ahead we are sharing lots of ideas with the newest release of stamps for winter and Christmas.  There are lots of them so it was hard to chose but i picked 2 to create with and i hope that you like them both.

My first card is my favorite because i love, love, love to create with snowflakes.  And Suzanne has created digital papers too so it was really fun to mix and match the patterns.  The colors are gorgeous in lots of pretty shades of blue, white and black and after i stamped and layered my sentiment all it needed was a cute little chipboard snowflake to finish up the theme.

Here is a closeup to see how pretty the sentiment is and anyone would love to get such a sweet card.

And my second card is also a new stamp called "The Best Thing i ever did".  For this one i used the same digital Snowflake papers only i just used the dots in blue and black.  I stamped my image on an oval piece of white to go under the chipboard piece and then layered over that.  This one went together super fast so that is really nice when you need a card in a pinch.

A Whisper On My Nose and Oxide Background

Hello!  Summer is nearing to an end and we are going to skip right on over to winter here with some new stamps from Quietfire Design.  I am showcasing A Whisper On My Nose.  I used the Sue Wilson Australian Collection to frame the sentiment.  

I wanted different shades of blue for the background so I made an oxide ink background for it.  I used very little ink and the background was very quick to make.

I popped up the frame against the background with foam tape.
