Nov/12 - Quill Flower - With heart

It's Yogi here with a quilled flower creation and lots of die cuts to go with the beautiful sentiment stamp. The quilled flower is quite easy to do. The dies mentioned below can be substituted for other brand dies and the fringing can be cut by hand. Click on any image to see a larger view. Enjoy

Flourish Die Cuts: I inked my stamp (Impression Obsess CAC Ornate Floral) with Perfect Medium and clear embossed on a glossy paper, then lightly sponged various Distress greens and yellows. Die cut with the Dee's Distinctively "Flourish" set #3 dies. Adhered to my white card front with the bottom of the flourishes creating a central focal area for my quilled flower.

Using my rubber mallet to lightly tap the Sizzix Tim's Cracked embossing folder around the edges of my card front, then sponging lightly with a dirty brown sponge, and some Frayed Burlap.

Die cut the leaf sprigs (Cheery Lynn "Pair of Ferns") from some decorated cardstock done in greens. Cut part of the leaf sprig apart before adhering.
The quote (Quietfire Design) was two tone stamped with Distress Rusty Hinge and lightly touched with Evergreen Bough.

The flower was made with 18 pieces of 3" length quill paper (or 1/8" w paper) in 2 colors of pearlized white & cream paper, both ends cut into points, paper curled
between your finger and your nail (like curling ribbon), then 6 were glued together at the centers (see dia. below). Make 3 of these assemblies, then adhere the 3 together at the centers, off setting each.

The little white center uses Quilled Creations Mum fringing die and white quilling paper. (There are other brands that make the fringing type dies including Memory Box). Cut 2 strips of Chiyogami red Oriental design paper using the Cuttlebug Quilled Flower Daisy die set. Start making a tight coil with the white fringe, then adhere the Chiyogami pieces and continue coiling, glue the end down. Adhere to center of petal assembly, then onto card front.
