Hello Crafty Friends!

It may be January but my thoughts have turned to spring.  I love the beauty of spring gardens as they are full of bright bulbs and cheep-cheep-cheeping birds.  Spring garden life is captivating.  Seeing the earth awakening from the winter sleep and new plants bursting from the soil carpet is amazing.  Life is truly magical.

Garden magic inspired today's card.  I wanted to make something bright, beautiful and magical.  Fairies are definitely all three and Suzanne's fairy stamp set, Nothing can be truer than fairy wisdom, was the focal point of the card front.

Card instructions:

1. Create a top fold card base using white card stock.
2. Cut and mat purple glitter paper.
3. Cut patterned paper smaller than mat in step 2.  Outline using gold marker (optional).  Mount to card front.
4. Die cut white card stock and mount.
   

   
5. Cut and mat purple glitter paper to white die cut using double faced foam tape.
6. Cut patterned paper smaller than mat in step 5.  Outline using gold marker (optional) and mount to card front.
7. Use ornate die to cut purple card stock.  Mount.
8. Stamp quote onto white card stock using purple ink.  Die cut and outline using gold marker (optional).  Mount to card front using double faced foam tape.
   

   
9. Create bow and mount using liquid adhesive.  Adhere tag.  Apply Stickles at will.
   

   
10. Apply sparkly gems.
11. Decorate inside of card as desired.  (Below are the inside views of my card.  It is nice to create a pocket using patterned paper- just in case you would like to use the card as a gift card holder.  The white card stock is also not stamped yet- it is left open for a Quietfire sentiment stamp.)

Together forever....

Welcome to the Quietfire Design blog.
With a new year begun it's time to start thinking about Valentine's Day cards.
Yvonne here sharing a "love themed"card, using one of my many most favorite Quietfire design stamps ;-)

Used materials:

• Quietfire Design: Together forever #6390 (red rubber mounted stamp)
• cardstock: white, pink, patterned
• die-cuts, mulberry flowers, ribbon, rhinestones
• paper trimmer, scissors

The card is really easy to make...it's all about simple layering.

First stamp the sentiment onto white cardstock and then position a die-template over it to choose the best place for the sentiment before die-cutting.

Use soft  colored cardstock for creating a romantic card.

Layer the die-cut using 3D foam squares for a 3D effect and finish the card with flowers, leaves, ribbon and some sparkling rhinestones.

Uhmmmm....while making my card and playing with my stamp I simply could not resist...

(p.s. it's temporary/just Archival ink!) ;-)

Because I am thankful

Today is my first post for the this brand new year and i decided to start in with a Valentine card.  Quietfire Design carries beautiful dies in their online shop that you can pair with their stamps so for my card i use the "Because" die for the outside and stamped " I am thankful for all you do" on the inside.  I used new Valentine papers from Bo Bunny and cut out the sentiment in the same shade of deep rose to match.  I especially love the flowers on both edges and how it really makes the die cut pop across the center.

The stamp on the inside i used from the set called "I don't tell you often enough".  

It's a great set that has lots of other beautiful sentiments you can use for so many other cards to send throughout the year.  It even has i love you for Valentines day! It's a definite must have...

Don't wait for someone

Did you get some new craft supplies for Christmas?  Well, I did - and I have to admit that I got them for myself.  It's the best way to get exactly what you want.  Lol!

This Elizabeth Craft Design Amaryllis die was actually something given to me a while back but I never got around to using it.  Why did I wait?  I love how bold it is - yet is does not take away from my sentiment from the Where the Flowers Bloom by Quietfire Design at all.

To create the above card, I made the amaryllis (you can see how to make it with this YouTube Video) - the only difference is I used yellow embossing powder in for my pollen.

I also made a black frame for it by nesting rectangle dies and popping them up with foam tape.  With my new Tim Holtz stamp platform tool, I got it lined right between the flower and frame. 

I guess instead of flowers, I didn't wait for new craft supplies.  :)

Love and Hearts Always

Hello on this 2nd day of a new year.  I hope you got to spend some time with loved ones over the holidays!!  Valentine's Day is just a quick hop, skip, and jump away (maybe not even that far as it seemed 2017 went by in just a hop, skip, and jump) so my card today is totally Valentine's worthy.

I've used the A Way With Words Love & Hearts Clear Stamp Collection and the A Way With Words Always cutting die.

My background panel is kraft cardstock.  

• Stamp the hearts border along the top and bottom with VersaMark Ink and emboss with Queen's Gold powder. 
• Ink around edges with Distress Ink Festive Berries, splatter with water, blot and dry.
• Color inside the hearts with Wink of Stella Gl. White.
• Ink edges with Versamark and emboss with Queen's Gold. 

Hearts panel is Specialty Stamping Paper.

• Using a craft mat, add Distress Oxide Inks (worn lipstick, candied apple, picked raspberry) to paper spritzing with water, drying, and redipping into ink until you like the color.
• Stamp solid outline hearts with Archival Ink Jet Black
• Stamp insides with Archival Ink Vermillion.  Dry well and tap with an anti-static bag.
• Stamp solid outline hearts again with Versamark ink and emboss with Queen's Gold powder.
• Add white around hearts with Gel Pen.
• Add Wink of Stella to inside of little hearts. 
• Distress edges.

Finishing Up.

• Cut "Always" from both red and white cardstock.  Attach together so you see a bit of white. Glue to card as shown.
• Attach everything to folded white card.
• Add dots of Classic Cherry Enamel Accents as shown.

Finished card measures 6" x 4 3/4".

Happy New Year, Crafty Friends!  May your 2018 be full of love, happiness and beautiful wonderment.

It is that time when many of us are setting goals or dreaming dreams for the new year.  You may be setting a goal to be healthier or to find inner peace.  Perhaps you are hoping to save money for a trip or planning to organize your home.  A desire to create without limits may be your crafty dream.  Whatever you choose for 2018, remember that you can do it- and smile when you imagine your goals being completed.  As Suzanne's stamp states:  The best thing I ever did was believe in me.

The first project of the new year was made in the spirit of resolutions.  The card combines the inspirational stamped quote, You are never too old

with the lovely A Way With Words Dream die.

The stamp and die set are a sweet pairing.  Together they can be used to create projects to encourage yourself or others.

Die cutting in gold results in a bright and gorgeous one word statement: Dream.

Gold, glitter and sparkly gems add radiance while the quote stamped in black is a solid reassurance.  You are never to old to set another goal or to dream a new dream.

Believe in You card

I hope that you all had an amazing Christmas Holiday yesterday!!  I love this time of year and hopes of starting a new year with even more special things planned always keeps me in good spirits and i can't wait to start 2018. Can you believe it's almost a New Year?  

So-- with all of that in mind--- i thought i would create a card that i could send to a special friend for always being there for me.  I think everyone has them and receiving a special card would be really nice even for me.  I created my card using one of the new Cling Rubber stamps called  "The best thing- Believe in you" and i wanted to keep it simple so i used a pretty hemstitch oval die by Becca Feeken to stamp my sentiment in black and that way it would stand out great with the Kaisercraft papers that i used.  

And behind the oval die is another of Becca Feeken's dies called "Braided Grace Square".  I made two of them one in each of the papers and alternated the pattern to create a pretty back round under my gorgeous sentiment.  And i just finished it with a pretty ivory bow and a sparkling star.  It's simple yet really elegant... just how i like it.  And i hope you do too!

I hope you are having a wonderful day and thank you so much taking the time out to visit - I really appreciate it!

So who knows someone with a birthday in December and it just gets kind of lost in the holiday craze?  Well, this is the card for them!  Well, it's for anytime of the year - pretty versatile card here - but I made it with December birthdays in mind.  You can easily change out the Celebrate die for the small Happy Birthday die.  It's quick but all sorts of shimmery thanks to the Shimmer Sheetz from Elizabeth Craft Designs.

I stamped and masked the balloons using Kaleidoscope ink for the whole rainbow of colors.  Some black matting and the Celebrate die completes my CAS card (because really, you need a quick card to get everything done in December.)

I think the Shimmer Sheetz and the black matting really helps elevate this otherwise simple card.   What do you think?

Noel and Naughty List Cards with Embossed Shimmer Sheetz

Hello, Connie Nichol here today with a couple of quick Christmas cards.  I had some shipping tags laying around, and some dies and Christmas stamps designed by Suzanne Cannon and some Elizabeth Craft Designs shimmer sheetz, and one thing led to another......  These cards are very simple, but the design is versatile.  You can use different stamps and dies on the tag and make a whole pile of different cards.  Shimmer sheetz are iridescent Mylar sheets and they become extra beautiful when dry embossed with an embossing folder and a manual die cutting machine.  A piece of shimmery Mylar and a few sequins make the cards look very shiny and festive.

And the stamp is from the clear acrylic Merry Christmas collection shown here.  This is such a large versatile set.

Christmas Panel - Glory to God in the Highest

Hello on this wonderful Thursday!!!  Christmas is just a few short days away.  I'm hoping to get my wrapping all finished up today and then I am completely ready.  Well, unless I decide to do more baking which is a possibility :-)

I'm sharing a Christmas panel today that I'm going to put on an easel.  It could easily be made into a card instead.

Directions --

• Stamp quote onto cream cardstock with black ink, die cut oval, ink edges with Vintage Photo, apply Distress Paint to very edge of oval.
• Die cut oval from Kraft-Stock paper, ink edges with Vintage Photo, apply Distress Paint to very edge of oval.
• Cut corrugated card to measure 5" x 6 1/4", lightly brush high spots with Vanilla paint, paint edges with Vanilla, dry, lightly brush ridges with Collage Medium and add Glitter, brush Collage Medium on edges and add Glitter, let dry, splatter panel with Tarnished Brass Paint.
• Wrap corrugated card with 1 1/2" strip of Christmas Paper Stash Paper and attach to green panel cut 5 1/4" x 6 1/2".
• Attach ovals with foam tape.
• Die cut holly leaves from green paper.  Add highlight in center with Pan Pastel and shading on edges with Peeled Paint Ink.  Detail and shape with flower tools.  Attach to panel as shown.
• Die cut berries from scrap of Kraft-Stock paper so the reds match and glue on as shown. 
• Add brads to corners.
